Confluence is an excellent solution for collaborating on many different types of projects
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the design of many of the project environments in Confluence. When I've used collaboration platforms that other companies have activated for us, they tended to be somewhat bare and focused more on chatting. Confluence is more engaging, kind of like an interactive magazine page where we can arrange things in a layout to suit our needs for specific projects. We can add grids, lists and photos for reference if they make sense for the subject matter that we're discussing.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think that I've really had many problems with Confluence since I've started using it. I think that the effectiveness of the platform depends a lot on the participants' willingness to use it, which can be an issue for certain people that may not enjoy using collaboration platforms and having to regularly updating people. I think that we've sometimes used Confluence for very simple projects that could be more easily be done with a simple text editor. So in those cases, I think that Confluence can sometimes make things more complicated than they need to be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we use Confluence, we typically have great results in keeping each other informed and moving ideas forward. Confluence has been a great way for us to collaborate in real time and also to use as a reference to let others in on our project planning. We are able to comment on specific items in the Confluence project, which makes things more clear. We can often resolve problems much faster.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think that since Confluence is just about as easy to use as desktop publishing tools like Word, it shouldn't be too difficult to get started with it. If you take the time to learn about its features, then I think that it can go a long way for your collaboration efforts.
Nice tool to keep all your company knowledge safe
What do you like best about the product?
I think that Confluence is a nice tool to have. I lets you reflect all your company knowledge, information and commons in a single place and share it across all departments and teams. Having your own intra wiki is great when you need to transfer knowledge to new hires or document some investigation or achievement.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be quite difficult to navigate at first, and its documents organization is not the best. I think it needs to be upgraded but with a better UX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Confluence to document when I do a research in any kind and need to save the results in order to share it with my team or the company. Also to document releases, business methodologies and more.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a tool to use as a wiki for your company, this is the best option. You can set users with different permissions, share common knowledge and keep track of every change that is made. It is more static than having a Google Drive with info, more like a having it in a static website. I recommend it. And if you are already a Jira user, this is a great deal for you.
Structure for Information Overload!!
What do you like best about the product?
This platform helps us with structuring how we all share and view information.
What do you dislike about the product?
It may be a bit difficult, learning to navigate through the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Structuring how we all share and view information. Benefits of diminishing sharing duplicate information.
So Helpful in the Workplace!
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of being able to look up things that I need for my work. It's like Wikipedia for the workplace.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found anything I dislike about Confluence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence is used in my workplace to locate articles needed for helping with our customers. It is a major benefit when talking points are needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be very specific when searching for what is needed. It makes it easier to find articles.
Very powerful and diverse tool. Recommended
What do you like best about the product?
Adding pages with all types of content works like a charm. We have several internal pages gathering knowledge to streamline our working process. Especially efficient for getting new colleagues up to speed, saving time.
What do you dislike about the product?
At first it looked kinda intimidating, until you just try some stuff out and realise it's not that hard. I know some other (younger) colleagues still think it's that large program they don't really have to use and they can just ask me, which wasn't really our intention. Not really the fault of Confluence though, just some feedback.
Missing the option to embed code into a page. (Say a Google form that's embedded, not too difficult stuff).
Missing the option to embed code into a page. (Say a Google form that's embedded, not too difficult stuff).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gathering and sharing knowledge, creating informative pages wit links to external core sources like Google drive (not through the add+on just yet, just working with links).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think confluence is a good tool to use, it has many possibilities and will probably suit your needs.
Documenting your projects the right way
What do you like best about the product?
i really like the integration with Jira. It is great to be able to vizualise and track dinamically the status of each Jira ticket. In addition, the possibility to create, edit and duplicates spaces and pages make the documenting process very smooth.
What do you dislike about the product?
What i dislike the most is the arborescence and the way the information is presented on the left hand side bar. Every time i spend a lot of time looking for the location of the right information which makes it very frustrating for me and my ressources on the project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence allows us to keep documentation for year, follow our ticket status on jira, share infos with our clients.
Decent collaboration platform with a lot of features
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is incredibly customizable - it can be used for documentation, a wiki, a blog, a file-sharing site, a marketing campaign tracker and more. It directly links to Jira so it's a nice arm of that.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface could use some how-to's overlaid on top of Confluence. I have multiple technical people who are very confused on what Confluence should be used for and they have difficulty understanding all the different things it can do. The over-customization of it proves to be a double edged sword.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company is utilizing it as a 'prettier' way to show real-time stats from Jira, and we use it as a landing page for helpful Board views in Jira. It works, but it wasn't as straightforward as I would have liked when on-boarding about 100 users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd recommend Confluence if you're installing Jira. But I would suggest getting some training ahead of time before simply jumping in and creating pages. It can be very easily disorganized of you don't rein in a new implementation right away.
Intranet and collaboration with ease
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to update all your content at one place. For teams and co-workers to check instructions and follow guidelines. Secured by LDAP so ease of security.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can sometimes be a little challenging to figure out permissions for pages and sub-pages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating workflows and knowledge base for our teams. Defining policies and procedures so they are easily available for teams/users to review and follow guidelines.
Organised project management
What do you like best about the product?
The full set of tools for managing access to different pages and areas across our organisation thus making it more appropriate for enterprise.
What do you dislike about the product?
The organisation of pages and collecting of articles could be difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To document our pricesses and policices and our development team use it on daily basis to record the outcome of discussions and to share knowledge.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Can be used in multiple of activities from writing, organising and viewing all kinds of documents no doubt i would recommend it to any project management team.
Content Management at its Finest
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence can hold all your content for your company internally, and I think it has really improved its user experience in the last few years.
What do you dislike about the product?
You cannot share content externally, unless you export to PDF or Word. When exporting tables, your tables will get cut off.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You are solving the issue of not having content in one place. Confluence can have in one place for your company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it for free before moving forward with it, you'll see if it's right for your business!
