Constantly inconsistent
What do you like best about the product?
It mostly works. Have experience using it from several different companies
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow, inconsistent, editors look different in different states. Frequently has debilitating bugs that have existed for years (pasting images works ~80% of the time)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing information within department
Confluence a collaborative Work Space
What do you like best about the product?
The software provides what's called “Space”. The Space serves as a work area where users can provide feedback depending on what their space is used for. Developers can add documents regarding there application development, helpdesk environments can add documents that provide how-to scenarios, and with the number of plugins that are available for confluence there's endless tools available for helping users, developers, and contributors to the manage there space a lot more easily. With this collaboration tool, our enterprise is able to communicate effectively and efficiently across multi departments.
What do you dislike about the product?
When creating a space, pages would have a better appeal if formatting was a little more robust. Currently there are several templates that can be assigned however formatting content on the templates , adding pictures , resizing and alignment of the pictures can be a bit cumbersome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
By having both Jira and Confluence we are able to bridge the gap of the service desk and our in house knowledge base created within a Confluences workspaces. This is the go to environment for “How to’s” within our organization. Other space is designed for development which contains the categories of their own how to documents. The benefits game has been content collaboration across our organization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We attempted to use a tool called On-Time. This is more of a software development tool but we needed something that would allow us to have documentation as well as collaboration in a more descriptive and graphical display. It's when we made the decision to go with it jira and confluence. The combination of the two has worked out extremely well in our environment. It's allowed us to adopt not only an agile method but allows to have a hybrid of both agile and waterfall.
Great for Knowledge base!
What do you like best about the product?
The latest update made searching for information a breeze! Design is sleek and super easy to use. Makes managing a knowledge base easy and understandable.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new search box is a little slower on the responses then the previous.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping all updated information and knowledge articles easily accessed and viewed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for knowledge bases and/or knowledge articles. Standard Operation Procedures alike!
KnowledgeBase and Documentation Wiki
What do you like best about the product?
The ability for live collaboration via Synchrony. The high level of customizability. The ability to Save for later / star an article which Jira is still unfortunately lacking. The ability to link over to Jira via application links and direct project issue to space linkage makes this a great pair and almost a must alongside Jira.
What do you dislike about the product?
The permission structure is too separate and different from that of Jira. I'm surprised Atlassian has not yet implemented a standard permission base amongst Jira and Confluence since the two are so similar and integrated. It would be nice if more macros were included out of the box to be able to do more with formatting articles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A common platform for knowledgebase and documentation. The static info source for how to solve Jira issues and not just how they were solved. The ability to better organize and archive meeting note summaries from meetings.
Pretty great, and getting better
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is the best product/project documentation platform out there. It enables project and sub project categorization, link creation, etc. It basically allows you to create you own wiki / website hybrid for internal documentation which is absolutely fantastic for knowledge gathering and archiving in a truly searcheable manner. And because it integrates with JIRA, issue tracking is also possible, making this absolutely a must have.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my experience so far, I haven't encountered any big issues with this software. If I had to point something out, it would be the learning curve, which can appear daunting in the beginning, but it is overcome really quickly, and most beginners become proficient sooner than they would have expected in the beginning. The possibility to download/export pages into pdf's would also be greatly appreciated for easy sharing and offline reading, but it is not the end of the world and it is something easily overcomeable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Confluence to document internal projects and processes, and integrating with issues tracking both in support and software development so as to have a single source of truth. So far, Confluence is a time-saver, and its integration with Jira has saved us a lot of meeting time and headaches over the years, so I would highly recommend it!
Easy to Use
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy Confluence is to use. It doesn't require extensive training to figure out.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no much to dislike. I wish there were better templates for creating documentation, or for copying over existing html documentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is our internal wiki and documentation for all of our products. Easy to share and set permissions on who can view/edit.
Great Knowledge Base for Teams growing at scale
What do you like best about the product?
Not a huge learning curve, and the ability to make content look clean and organized is a plus
What do you dislike about the product?
Uploaded files tend to look less organic to the surround content
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A centralized knowledge base with the right permissions for an organization growing at scale. Permissions allow only those who need access to certain spaces to access them, edit them, etc.
Complex for new comers, but very useful tool
What do you like best about the product?
It allows to store information about the company and processes in a clear and consistent fashion, at the same time allowing version controlling and reviews to be done by specific people. Is a good knowledge management tool and helps to tie in a lot of different aspects in one place for the distributed teams across different countries. Very recommended if you have large teams that share the same knowledge space
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a but old looking as Wikipedia and can be a pain to find your way around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The major question solved is knowledge management and knowledge sharing. It also helps to structure and organize the knowledge we have around the offices into one place that is moldable and can be updated on a regular basis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very good tool in connection with other atlassian products, especially when it comes to distributed teams and collaboration. It fits well with the every day processes and helps storing the information about general things in one single place
Very Easy To Use Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a very easy to use business tool to help teams share knowledge. The platform is intuitive and minimal training is needed to figure out how to use it. The cloud storage style platform is modern while keeping the basic concepts of digital file storage. The email notifications that recommend articles in Confluence that may match what I need to know are very useful and helpful. Personally this is one my favorite features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Confluence could integrate better into other platforms instead of being a standalone platform that needs to be logged into. Although I personally find Confluence to be a great way to organize information, there are situations where files that have been uploaded can easily get unorganized. If employees/contributors are not uploading and saving in the same format then things can quickly become messy and require a team to go in and reorganize everything. As a whole, a team is needed to keep an organization's Confluence clean, updated and to keep the information that is uploaded and housed in there easy to search for and access.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working for a cloud based software company we constantly have information that we need to share organizationally and across teams. Confluence provides an easy avenue for us to share this information. Confluence has helped the company I work for become more efficient and knowledgeable while keeping everyone engaged all around.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Before allowing employees to start contributing/adding in articles, be sure to have an outline of the structure that you are looking for to ensure that the space is as organized as possible to prevent additional work down the line in the future.
Confluence: a powerful ally in developing marketing strategies for activities
What do you like best about the product?
In reality, confluence can cover an endless number of situations that deserve organization for a project in general. Confluence makes working with many projects without increasing the degree of difficulty of them at any time, even when they are large projects. Confluence has the advantage of having different templates to create meetings (and if necessary, different notes about them), so that we take the least amount of time possible scheduling them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The confluence search function is not that good. We have noticed that it takes a long time to locate information such as the comments that certain people make within the page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This opinion will be rooted in the importance of confluence as a creator of plans, since it is the best way to organize a group so that they keep in touch about the launch of activities and processes during the development of each project. Confluence has also helped us, based on your printing system, to create a line in retrospect, to call it something, about everything that happened at work during a certain period of time, or simply about a specific project , since it can be customized to our liking.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Confluence seems useful to us to speed up issues such as decision making during work operations, and more if it is a large group. Confluence is recommended to work both with marketing plans, and to facilitate the insertion of tickets that have been created in similar softwares (created by atlassian) as in the case of Jira.
