Zoom is high and above competitors

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In my seven years of using Zoom, it has excelled by being easier to use and more reliable than the competition. Zoom understood early on when building their product that they wanted to focus on ensuring they could keep a connection rather than prioritize video quality. Competitors, including BlueJeans, Meet, and Vidyo, failed to do that. It matters because Zoom wasn't trying to present you with HD video streaming as the highest priority; they wanted to ensure your meeting could continue when faced with latency on your connection.

Zoom also revolutionized the way that conference rooms are built and equipped. In the past, I've deployed Cisco and Lifesize video conferencing equipment. The upfront investment and continued maintenance were sizable compared to the off-the-shelf equipment we could purchase to set up a Zoom Room. Zoom helped to create a new market for hardware manufacturers. The availability of high-tech cameras, digital whiteboards, touchpads, and easy-to-deploy audio equipment has been exciting to witness and valuable to customers who need to provide the best experience in conference rooms.
What do you dislike about the product?
They can continue to improve their ability to cancel out background noise. I use a 3rd party tool, Krisp, to do that for me, as it is far superior to Zoom's capability. Additionally, I think the latest whiteboard release is fantastic; however, there are better alternatives like Miro, which can be deployed as a Zoom app and provide richer capabilities. If they continue improving that feature, we'd be less inclined to use alternatives.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're a fully distributed company, and Zoom brings us together for 1:1's, company meetings, team meetings, and social interactions. Furthermore, their tech works consistently and is easy to use. From an IT perspective, that's a win for us as we provide a valuable and reliable service to our employees.

Zoom has served us well for communications during the pandemic, and continues to do so

What do you like best about the product?
Relative ease of use, for inexperienced users. It is particularly helpful to see faces and be able to share a screen.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I am not active in a scheduled meeting, users complain about not being able to mute those that simply don't get it. Yes, there are ways around that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom addresses the issues of geography and difficulty with travel. Sometimes it is just local travel, and sometimes international.

Zooming into the future

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom is great for complex, facilitated meetings of hundreds, and it's great for a two-person conversation as well. I like that it allows the manager of the event to allow folks in to speak, or to simply observe the proceedings. I also appreciate how one can record the meeting, and it provides the recording to you for immediate saving and for sharing as one wishes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hardly any downside to zoom - sometimes the meeting notifications are so full of various numbers and content that it is sometimes confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom helps solve Climate Change! No need to burn fossil fuels or any other energy source traveling to meetings - and one can still observe the body language of others - so critical for fuller understanding than just the spoken word.

Online Teaching with Zoom

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favourite thing about Zoom is how accessible it has made my English and Irish classes to people in both Ireland and Canada. I enjoy the easy to use interface on my side and the students' side.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I dislike about Zoom is the whiteboard feature. It would be a little bit better in terms of how it can be used during an online lesson. I also would like if there was an option to save the chat box conversations into a file asI share a lot of new vocabulary with my students through the chat box.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom is helping me to provide a language learning service to people all over the world essentially no matter where I am or what time it is. This is something that has changed teaching for me for the better.

Zoom is user-friendly. You can add multiple users to one account and you can access the platform from your smartphone or smart device. I fully utilize the share screen feature. Very helpful for the visual learner
What do you dislike about the product?

Zoom for therapy private practice

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Much more user friendly, consistently strong performance, ease of desktop app, many integrations
What do you dislike about the product?
The online browser scheduling only allows certain increments for start and stop time. Integration with mighty network doesn't allow for some of the privacy settings i prefer. The timer integration isn't able to be heard by others in attendance. Screenshare on Mac shows black boxes during recording (the zoom boxes)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Therapy platform for video telehealth, group meetings, and ease of scheduling consultation for my solo practice, without exorbitant costs.

I love how practical and convenient it is to set up meetings.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would prefer more controls for co-hosts, and the security measures could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been able to run hundreds of remote meetings for meetups, game nights with friends, attended job interviews, and celebrated holidays with families during the pandemic over Zoom. I also got to know someone well who I am in a long distance relationship with now initially over Zoom.

Zoom keeps me connected

  • August 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy interface to host and participate in meetings. It is fairly intuitive and easy to mute/unmute and come on camera. The backend host features provide a lot of options to make the meeting accessible to individuals with disabilities and/or other needs. The cloud storage stores recordings easily and can be downloaded and shared with others who are unable to participate on the day of a meeting/training. Also, the app is easy to use for those on phones or tablets and need to take calls on-the-go.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some clients' systems are set up to use other platforms, which can make it challenging for them to sign in. I do find that I have to sign-in across technology since I only have one license, which can be frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom keeps me connected to colleagues and clients across time zones. There are many people I've never met in-person, but the video features of Zoom allow me to create a connection and collaborate on work. Additionally, it allows for people to have access to trainings, when in the past they would have been physically limited by geographies.
