Zoom really is the market leader

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom can do anything that you might want video conferencing to do. Beyond the basics that anyone can do, Zoom can easily share an application with your computer's audio, allow annotations, or even allow someone else to control your computer. Zoom tolerates low bandwidth better than many alternatives, and has the best moderation tools for when you have a big event and need to maintain control (like keeping the audience from unmuting themselves). For basic video with screen sharing, most of the options work very similarly (excepting Webex - their video capabilities are still terrible and connecting is a pain). Where Zoom kills the competition is when you want to have an event with 100s of participants. I've run virtual conferences on Zoom, and I can't imagine running them on anything else.
What do you dislike about the product?
Zoom should connect audio by default (at least it connects fast, unlike Webex - the best day of my career was the day my day job dropped Webex in 2018). Based on some past incidents that I understand have been corrected, I have concerns about who can access Zoom data from China, but I don't think they would be in their current position if China was doing large scale industrial espionage through Zoom. Zoom is currently our 2nd choice conferencing solution at my day job and since we have rooms designed for our first choice, using Zoom in our conference rooms isn't as nice of an experience, but who expects competitors to play nice with each other?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used Zoom for office hours in a 350 student class for a major university's online program. I have used Zoom to produce a counseling conference with hundreds of attendees on three continents that went off flawlessly. Both of these scenarios have been much more of a challenge with different tools. Hosting the conference changed my opinion of Zoom from "why would anyone pick this one?" to "clearly the best tool for this job".

Best platform for remote work.

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Everyone can use Zoom, even those who do not have an account. There are so many options for a participant to join the conversation. My clients are not the most tech savvy but no one has had a problem using the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Zoom is not great for collaborative projects that require multiple inputs. You can share one screen and while there is a whiteboard feature now, it really is not as robust as it could be for a multi-person team working on one thing at the same time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to have quality video conference calls from the comforts of anywhere...home office or car has been a life line for me. Having lost staff during the pandemic, having the flexibility of remote meetings with colleagues and clients has allowed me to be productive and profitable.

Still my Favorite

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Zoom because it is simple, user-friendly, and familiar. I pay a very minimal monthly fee and have all of the control and features I need. Other video-conferencing software has emerged in the past few years but I don't like them nearly as much as Zoom.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I don't like is having to wait to call in when I use my phone. I have regular Zoom meetings with a colleague using his Zoom. He has meetings all day long and uses the same Zoom, so I have to wait until he lets me in. When he finally does, then he has to wait for me to call the number and punch in the meeting ID and participant code. It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't prefer to use my phone, but I do because our internet isn't great so I prefer the connection on my cell.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom has helped me to build relationships with partners and vendors from around the country without actually having to be there in person. It has allowed me to grow from a regional influencer to a global influencer.

Easy to use platform, use it every day in my business

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom is easy for online meetings, you can use the same link and still control who comes in via the waiting room approval by host. Has other useful options like break out rooms, ability to share your screens which is super helpful when showing clients something and the ability to take control of other screens when needed. I rely on zoom to keep my business running.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every week about once it signs me out randomly so if I click on my link it sees me as a participant not host and I have to go through a process to log back in and then go to the link again - it's a pain when I have set my computer to remember me. Not the same day of the week, it mostly works fine just randomly about once per week it does that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having online meetings easily and being able to see the person and share screen. It has kept my going through the pandemic when I couldn't go to clients

Easy to learn and effective to deliver content and engage with a community

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Compared to other known competitors, Zoom managed to facilitate similar outcomes with a simpler interface and lower learning curve. The addition of the whiteboard options or share system audio only opened up many possibilities for trainers.

The security features may not be as robust as other software claim to have but for the general meeting host, it's plenty.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like the ability to allow a specific attendee to share their screen rather than activating screen share for everyone involved. This can be helpful when running a Support call and you want the person with the raised hand to be able to share but not someone else to take over.

I also have mixed feelings about cloud storage and the quality of the recordings saved in the cloud. It should be much more visible for the host to know what's available to them rather than having to search the help articles and read the technical jargon.

I strongly dislike the change in meeting limits for 1x1 calls. Setting it at 40 minutes is like a slap on the face when many meetings happen for 1-2 hours. I guess they didn't have enough earnings so they had to come up with a "clever" way to force people to buy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest one is accessibility. The ability to run things virtually at a relatively low cost is very convenient. While not built for this purpose, being able to record locally in high quality has allowed me to record training and courses that I can use for digital products without needing expensive video production software.

Love Zoom for working with clients and teaching

  • August 19, 2022

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Zoom is so user friendly. The new whiteboard feature makes it easy to learn from and teach students.
What do you dislike about the product?
WHat I dislike most about using Zoom is all the numbers that are included when copying the code to an email. It takes up so much space and I never have to use it and always end up deleting it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom allows me to connect with students all over the world. I can train anyone anywhere. I also get to take classes from people that I might never had the opportunity to learn from

Zoom was a Godsend for the Pandemic and Will Continue to Serve as Normalcy Returns

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When the Pandemic struck in 2020, most of our members were isolated and unable to obtain the continuing education credits they needed. We had to cancel our in-person seminar that had been held for 20+ years. By offering programs over Zoom, our members (and many other professionals) were able to obtain the credits they needed to maintain their licenses. It also allowed our small bar association to grow exponentially as Zoom allowed us to greatly extend our reach. As we pride purselves on being affordable, the low cost of the Zoom platform was perfect for our needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially, there were some problems with the platform -- especially compatibility between different operating systems. These have been almost entirely resolved. We have experienced a few technical problems with connectivity, but these are far more likely the result of internet bandwidth than the platform. Overall, we have found customer service and support to be excellent in resolving issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As indicated in the main review, our association was entirely dependent on in-person meetings to deliver continuing education. Even in the largest setting, we were rarely able to accommodate more than 100 members. With Zoom we regularly have several hundred members online and can present programs much more frequently because there are no venue and travel costs. We have many more members and will continue to grow thanks to Zoom.

Clear communication in an easy to use format

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom has become my favorite form of communication over text, email and definitely the phone. It's easy to send a quick link and be talking to someone face-to-face in minutes. Because of Zoom, I've been able to participate in a weekly business mastermind with members from around the country and even found my perfect business partner whom I have never even met in person! The ability to see someone's facial expressions makes it easier to build trust.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some people are reluctant to use Zoom because they are still not comfortable having their faces shown on camera. This results in a lot of participants represented only by "black screens". However, with a little time spent on the personal profile, they can choose to have a still photograph of themselves displayed instead of the video which at least lets the others know what they look like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The best part about Zoom is that it was easy enough for my elderly parents to use even though they are not tech savvy. We have a family get-together every week so we can catch up and even the kids come on a say hi. I tried to get something like this going with Skype for YEARS but nobody could quite get the hang of it. Zoom worked instantly.

Zoom Saves The Day!

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature is the recording ability of zoom! This has allowed me to make sure that all comments are heard. No need to dispute what was said or voted on, play the tape!
What do you dislike about the product?
On the free account, I would love to have a full hour instead of 45 minutes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My group consists of older members who were terrified of COVID! Zoom allowed our group to meet virtually throughout COVID and we didn't miss any of our commitments. We changed the delivery method and after a few how-to classes, we kept rolling right along.

Easy, accessible, and affordable

  • August 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to set up and share meetings. I also really appreciate the closed captions options...and the ability to save the full transcript at the end of the session even if I'm not the account owner. I also appreciate that I get multiple file types when I do a recording - so I can share the one/s that fit my situation best at that time (whether I'm sending to a client or posting as a complete event on my website or social media pages, etc.).
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly don't think there's anything I dislike about Zoom.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom is helping me meet virtually with individual clients and teach groups. The CC function was truly life-changing for me when it was added. I'm very grateful.
