Powerful, robust, FREE platform with few limitations

What do you like best about the product?
I LOVE how much is included in the free version. I use Asana to organize work tasks but also personal tasks for managing my home & family with my husband. I love that you can be a part of teams to share responsibilities and easily assign tasks to one another.

Within each tasks, tasks are easily set to be recurring and to include notes or subtasks. Tagging is also easy and provides another way to view tasks.

It's also really handy that you can organize projects into categories using either a list view with subheadings or a more visual 'board' view.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is really inconvenient that you cannot drag/drop tasks in order of priority in the My Tasks view (list or calendar). While I understand that tasks are ordered based on if a time is assigned, I feel like most people look at their day's to-do list and would rather be able to order it based on when they plan to do it.

Things also get messy if you want to have a recurring tasks with also recurring sub-tasks. It often creates duplicates so you can't use this structure.

Lastly, you can't assign more than one person to a task. While Asana holds the position that assigning ONE person to be responsible promotes them actually getting it done, it does create some hassle when you have to create multiple tasks if multiple people are working on something together (i.e., a meeting or group project).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps SO much being able to keep everything all in one place. There are so many different ways to organize, categorize, & view tasks to keep track of everything. It is so helpful to be able to collaborate with other team members and see the same tasks, progress, etc.

Personally, it has cut down on repetitive communication & lists with team members. We can easily say "check Asana" and check off tasks, even if the items were assigned to someone else! It also allows team members to easily check to see what someone has going on and how they can help (or hold off adding more to their list!)

Personally, recurring tasks take the "mental load" out of things I need to do every day, week, month, etc. Setting up a system automates my approach and makes more time for more important items.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take some time to set up a framework for how you will organize tasks using teams, projects, tasks, sub-tasks, tags, etc. Write instructions so that going forward, everything is consistent and you can rely on what you see in the app based on assignees & lists, etc.

Works great for tasks but still needs some improvement done

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can share my tasks with my manager and we both work from the same application, so we have access to the same information.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that once a task is completed, it's a hassle to find it if you need it again later on. We're using the free version, so maybe that's the reason why, but it would be useful if the application was more user friendly than it is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating projects and tasks that I can share with my manager and we can both see the progress made.

Proving tasks within larger tasks

  • March 06, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can archive everything fairly easily and can tag people. Within each project you can provide sub tasks which is helpful and the settings will send you a nudge to remind you you have something due soon
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that within a larger task, the smaller tasks could be assigned to individual people instead of all people assigned on the larger task. Also seeing it in calendar view would help
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are lots of people doing overlapping tasks so this helps or project manager know where everyone’s Tim is being spent

The best designed task management tool

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to learn, attractive and simple interfaces, easy to make it your daily home base. Great for both new and experienced computer users. I love that you can have task/project-related convos and attachments. This is excellent if you are like me and frequently need to show people where they made decisions in the past in an easy way. I love that events can be recurring on almost every pattern I've ever thought of. I use it for grants tracking, so I can assign out pieces to different team members and easily gather pieces back to me. I love that I can hyperlink to previous years notes, attachments, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I least like about Asana is that you cannot learn all of its functionality just in a single day. I hope they send an email with each subject or functionality with a video link so that it will be easy for someone to learn all of the things you need to learn to enjoy Asana services in a day.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I also use it to plan editorial pieces, social media, communications campaigns, nonprofit programs, board meetings, household tasks and chores, etc. Previosuly I used it for large books/projects to break large academic projects into smaller pieces. I've used it with large and small groups aged 18-67. I've set it up for over 10 orgs/groups and it is fast and easy. Everyone loves how easy it is to just start using it. Great email functionality and it has a ton of add-ins you can use to link to other software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For new users, I would definitely suggest diving in and checking out all the features Asana offers. A great way to start is by watching the tutorial videos they have in the help menu in the top right corner of the site. Once you're comfortable with the app, I would look into the power features they have. Getting to know these will increase your productivity and efficiency in using the app. I would also say to get your team on board.

Great tool for efficiency in a team

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for project management when there are several team members. I love organization tools like this in my day-to-day, but Asana's strength is allowing you to make separate projects with varying team members, to assign members tasks, add attachments, comments, etc. making things way easier than back-and-forth emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much I dislike about Asana. I think the "assign" mode might be able to be better named. This is so minor, but I had to "assign" or re-assign tasks to my boss when I used it in a previous position and that felt awkward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficiency; staying on top of to-do lists with various projects with differing goals.

Decent Project Management Tool

What do you like best about the product?
Visually, it is very calming. Some people around the office pronounce is like ass-ana, which is also nice. Integration with Slack has also been helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tasks seem to get lost easily. A better way to bucket tasks together would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing tasks. For a long time, tasks weren't all located in a central place. Then we started using Asana and we ended up preventing a lot of overlap and lost assignments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look into other alternatives. Hive and Trello have been great for what my current company does. Asana worked well for the smaller firm I used to work for though.

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a platform with which I can upload all my projects and activities, it allows me to work in conjunction with my colleagues and also allows me to organize my agenda, something I like about Asana is that I can set deadlines for my activities, and I can share everything type of documents and everything I do from a simple web browser.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can not find a way to prioritize my activities, I also think that its interface lacks more colors since it is a bit pale.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has been very helpful in my work since I can organize all the work in one place which allows me to distribute it in a better way to my colleagues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Excellent tool for any type of company, you can be up to date and you can easily monitor the activities.

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is excellent because it has made my job more comfortable and easier, I can easily make my calendar, I can also create my notes and reminders, this software is ideal to take control of projects and activities at work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like the free version to have more functions, since it is very limited in all aspects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Asana I can maintain order and organization in the work that is done in the office and in the departments of the company.

Asana is a not a project management solution more of a task manager

  • February 28, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to keep track of all my tasks and set due dates. I can collaborate with team members on tasks that need to be completed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hmmm where to begin:
1 - no budget tracking option
2 - mulitple notifications across multiple inboxes
3 - Cannot collapse tasks to decluter the dashboard
4 - no time tracking option
5 - functionality is basic
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Taks management and meeting deadlines. We are able to easily collaborate on tasks together and let each oter know when teasks are complete. No need to keep checking in as progress and comments can be made directly in ASANA.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is not the best. Many competitors are richer in funcitionaly. I use this product because I only need to manage tasks and nothing else. This product would not work for me if I had to track budgets or manage projects.

The best task management product I've tried.

  • February 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Clean, intuitive, easy to use. The design is nice, not too crowded, but you have the option to add notes and comments to delve into the tasks. I really like to be able to use Asana on a variety of devices. Asana is one of the most powerful and flexible task management products I've tried. My team is very grateful with this software!
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana has a bit of a learning curve. Due to its power and complexity, it may take some time to become familiar with all its capabilities and how to navigate them. Fortunately, the Asana guide does an excellent job of guiding new users through the basics and advanced features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can do the heavy lifting on my laptop and then access all the projects / tasks / comments / etc. in the progress of my phone. It goes beyond the basics with functions like infinitely nested subtasks, the ability to comment, assign, add tags, expiration dates, etc. At a completely granular level.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would like to recommend this product because it is ideal for a medium or large company and will allow you to create and track the tasks of everything from daily administration to project management. It has more than one way to use the platform giving more possibilities and has some excellent integrations with slack and gmail. It also has excellent role levels, which means that you can control who sees which task and group.
