Asana is great as a project management tool but I sometimes wish it can help me with organization

  • April 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Project management among the team, easy to learn
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not organized enough, not enough features. So much so that I don't really use it for my own tracking, more of communication between myself and the team on their own tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working as a team remotely. It helps me keep track of other team members' tasks.

What do you like best about the product?
I haven't explored new features, but I have enjoyed the smart summaries.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could add multiple users to a task. This is specifically helpful when it's a department or team task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is allowing us to be more efficient with our campaigns, to not let creative ideas fall through the cracks, and to allocate accountability where needed.

What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to start learning right away. It's very easy to edit while learning. It seems to communicate with many applications
What do you dislike about the product?
I have a hard time with the scope of what Asana can do. I am always Googling how to make it work. the Getting Started video is easily accessible though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of all the little tasks that need to get done within bigger projects

Overall, I Really Like It

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful part of Asana is that I can add people outside of my organization and have them using the full functionality of the program (at least at the level I'm paying for) with no cost to them. As a lead of a non-profit, this is incredibly helpful as I would not be able to get board members and volunteers to pay to use a program that primarily benefits me and the organization.

The second thing that I like best is the flexibility of Asana. I have found that if I need to change or move anything, the most intuitive method seems to always work. Like dragging a subtask out of a primary task to make it its own primary task, or dragging tasks between projects to reassign them. This makes Asana incredibly usable for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the cost and the gate-keeping of some of the features to certain price points. I would like to use more of the program, but my budget simply will not allow for it. I should mention that this is not an Asana specific issue, this is an industry standard and common across a number of workflow management programs that I have looked at.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Primarily collaboration and communication. Most of the people I work closest with are volunteers with their own 9-5, so having tasks with individual and group comments helps a lot to keep things rolling in between meetings.

Powerful tool. Helps organize work of multiple teams, streamline collaboration, improve efficiency

What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about Asana is its automation features for routine processes, the ability to customize the workspace, and adapt it to the way I work. One of the first things people notice is how intuitive it is to move tasks across boards and visually track their progress from backlog to completion.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside is that Asana can occasionally lag or freeze. Also, in the past, they ran A/B testing programs that you couldn’t opt out of — which was frustrating if you ended up in a version that didn’t work well for you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps me coordinate work across multiple teams, automate routine processes, and customize workflows to fit our needs. It reduces chaos, improves team efficiency, and makes it easy to track tasks visually from backlog to completion. This clarity and structure save time and keep everyone aligned.

Warning: Avoid This Company at All Costs

What do you like best about the product?
Apparently if you aren't tricked into putting in your CC info, their free tier is solid.
What do you dislike about the product?
I signed up for what I thought was a free trial. Turns out, they required my credit card just to try the platform. I never used the service once, completely forgot about it (the trial was long), and then—without any notice—a charge of $60.98 hits my card.

Let’s set aside how absurd that price is for a basic collaboration tool.

I contacted support, explained that I never used the platform and didn’t even recall entering my credit card. Instead of owning the situation, they shuffled me between three different agents, each one more unhelpful than the last. The end result? No refund. Just a link to their “subscription terms.”

This is a company that’s happy to take your money even if you never used their product. Zero integrity. Zero customer care.

You've been warned.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about the product?
I think flexibility and collaborative nature of the app.
What do you dislike about the product?
i think i would like to suggest a feature called COPY RULE. Its little annoying to set custom rules from scratch again n again.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
its basically bringing the complete organisations work in one place which is truly so convenient.

I love the new addition of portfolios and how they house everything in one place. We use Asana daily and have fully integrated it into our business across the board.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the UX could be better in the view, it just is so many words and lines it is easy to get lost in it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping all our projects in one place with a clear trail of the work and tasks to refer back to.

Re-imagining how we work

  • April 09, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When I started at my new company, I found that the way we were underutilizing Asana. After doing trainings through Asana academy and learning how to optimize our usage, I was able to bring real use cases and examples of what our future on the platform can look like. I was quickly tapped as an administrator and able to begin the process of implementing new systems and usage. This has quickly been picked up and we now have a whole change management team, working on integrating our users, eliminating siloed information, and connecting our work both inside and outside of Asana with a number of app integrations. We are on the cusp of having an almost automated system that allows us to focus on the work that matters to us. Asana is quickly becoming THE comprehensive work tool for a number of our users, instead of one of many.

The thing I love most about Asana is truly how much this is helping all of us accomplish our work without worrying about information being lost and how easy it is to get everyone up to speed. It is so incredibly important now with how much of our work lives there now.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that it's very easy to overlook all of the tools and abilities of Asana unless you look for them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to consolidate our tool stacks across various teams, increase productivity with integrations, and to use Asana's words: "have a single source of truth" without our previous siloed information.
