Have worked on strengthening zero trust initiatives and expect improved integration capabilities

  • October 27, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) is a Zero Trust Network Access solution. When replacing traditional remote access VPN technology, which is not aligned with NIST 800-207 Zero Trust principles, Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) is the solution. It serves enterprises that prefer not to manage the underlay by installing a client connector agent on end-user machines. It provides access to private applications and SaaS applications remotely when users are traveling while building secure connectivity and ensuring least privilege access to these applications rather than everything within the perimeter.

What is most valuable?

The base bundle of Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) comes with essential features that depend on client requirements. For secure private access, configuration of client connectors and app connectors on-premises or in the cloud is necessary. Additional features include remote browser isolation capability and secure browser access, which can replace existing Privileged Access Management solutions. DLP capabilities and double encryption ensure the underlying provider cannot strip packets and examine contents.

I would assess the security level achieved with Zscaler Private Access (ZPA)'s Zero Trust architecture as inherent to the system. The security policies focus on users and applications rather than network-based constructs. It offers configuration levers for ingesting risk from identity and application standpoints, generating a cumulative score that can trigger connection drops when breaching thresholds. These features align with NIST 800-207 principles. The Risk360 view helps assess security policies and rule sets, providing recommendations for policy tightening.

What needs improvement?

Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) can be improved by expanding integrations. While they integrate with standard vendors such as CrowdStrike, deeper integrations with other vendors are needed. They should harmonize risk scores between different vendors, as each might score things differently, requiring a robust handshake for meaningful integration.

There is room for having a complete on-premises option. While Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) wants users to utilize their infrastructure for scale benefits, regulated environments such as government and investment banks need on-premises processing for regulations and low latency requirements. High-frequency trading firms require processing traffic internally rather than through internet channels.

In the future, I expect expansion of integrations because architects need flexibility in vendor selection based on use cases. The solution needs better handshake capabilities between vendors for risk scores and other metrics. Support-wise, they have a strong presence globally, including challenging markets such as China, though very remote offshore areas remain uncovered.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have worked with Akamai since 2019, when I first gained exposure to it.

What other advice do I have?

I have worked with Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) and Palo Alto as an enterprise security architect across multiple client engagements as part of network security implementations. I have also worked with competitors including Cloudflare. As we were partners, we received preferential access to support. I rate this solution 9 out of 10.

Zero Trust That Works—Smooth Once Set Up, But Pricey and Tricky to Configure

  • October 20, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The whole zero trust thing sounds buzzwordy but it actually makes sense once you're using it. People can access what they need without being on the network, and I'm not constantly getting tickets about connection issues anymore.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setup was a bit of a pain though, not gonna lie. Took us a minute to figure out all the policies and get everything configured right. And it's definitely not cheap - had to make a solid business case to get budget approval. But once it was running? Pretty smooth sailing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
So basically it solved the whole VPN mess for me. Like, I used to have to connect to that clunky VPN every morning, it would be super slow, and it'd randomly disconnect during meetings or when I was in the middle of something important. So annoying.
With ZPA, I don't even think about it anymore. I just open my laptop and everything I need for work is just... there. I can access all our internal apps whether I'm at home, at a coffee shop, or traveling - it all just works the same.
Way faster too. Like noticeably faster loading times compared to the old VPN.

Seamless Security Integration with Zscaler and Okta for Ultimate Data Protection

  • October 20, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Zscaler integrates with Beyond Identity and Okta to be able to use our finger-print on MacBooks to sign into everything. As an HR company hosting thousands of pieces of sensitive personal data, it is a hugely necessary component to keeping our work and data private. Zscaler seems to "go down" a lot, or log itself out a lot, but it is very intuitive and easy to reset or re-authenticate.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't provide any kind of notification when something goes wrong. Zscaler forces re-sign-in multiple times a day, which is frustrating because it can take several minutes to get everything refreshed, but when something does stop working, it's almost always because Zscaler is down, and now I know to check that first, but it doesn't actually notify you that it's been disconnected unless you open the program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We rely on Zscaler to secure our programs and hardware that are not protected by Okta. This is especially important for our laptops, a program called Dock, and several other software applications that do not integrate with Okta.

Effortless Security and Speed with Zscaler

  • October 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Zscaler is how easy it is to use while still keeping everything super secure. It’s fast, cloud-based, and I don’t have to deal with any hardware or VPN hassles. The dashboard gives great visibility and control, and it just works smoothly.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I like least about Zscaler is that it can be a bit tricky to troubleshoot when something goes wrong. The logs and error messages aren’t always clear, and changes can take a while to propagate. It can also feel restrictive at times — great for security, but sometimes gets in the way of testing or quick fixes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zscaler Private Access is solving the problem of secure remote access without relying on traditional VPNs. It gives users access to internal apps safely, without exposing the network itself. For me, that means faster, more reliable connections, less time dealing with VPN issues, and stronger security overall. It’s also easier to manage who can access what, which saves time and reduces risk.

  • October 18, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
VPNs are often difficult to set up and confusing for most users. Troubleshooting connectivity issues while a user is out of office is nigh impossible. Scalar eliminates those headaches.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are start up and configuration issues, but no different than any other application. Teaching users first how to use it and more importantly why and when to use it in the greater challenge
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Remote access to secure applications is the biggest use. Not having to create and maintain a vpn frees up engineers for other tasks, such as ai implementation

What do you like best about the product?
Excellent security posture via its Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) model which provides seamless, fast, and granular user-to-application connectivity without placing users on the network.
What do you dislike about the product?
The primary downsides are the steep learning curve of the admin console, inconsistent standard customer support, and the high overall platform cost for smaller to mid-sized organizations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This benefited us by minimizing the attack surface and eliminating lateral movement, while delivering a seamless, high-performance experience for our hybrid workforce.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how Zscaler Private Access secures remote connectivity for our hybrid workforce without the need for traditional VPNs, enabling safe access to internal applications from any location. I am impressed by the product's ability to noticeably reduce latency and enhance the overall user experience, all while upholding a robust security posture and compliance standards. Setting it up has been straightforward for me, thanks to the clear documentation and the support of an active community. I also value how users can connect directly to the specific applications they require, without exposing the entire network. The solution is lightweight and fast, removing the hassle of managing VPNs and their often sluggish tunnels. The admin console offers excellent visibility, and integration with identity providers like Azure is seamless. I find the cost of Zscaler Private Access to be reasonable and attractive, particularly for enterprises, and I appreciate its recognition as a market leader.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find myself wishing the troubleshooting process was a little more straightforward, since resolving issues can often be quite frustrating. Other than that, I think the cost of implementing Zscaler Private is relatively high, especially for smaller organizations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I rely on Zscaler Private Access to provide secure remote connectivity for our hybrid workforce, all without the need for traditional VPNs. This approach helps reduce latency and improves the overall user experience, while still upholding robust security and compliance standards.

Great Security for Clients

  • October 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it provides an additional layer of security to our clients. We use it to provide secure private client access to their mission critical applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Costs are always a concern and Zscaler's partner pricing model can be somewhat complicated. I love using their product but offering their pricing can be a little problematic from an MSP perspective
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for SSO for our clients to access their applications in place of using VPN. It's a solid product and the support is stellar. We have Zscaler baked into our VMware stack and the additional layers of security that it allows for is great.
