What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate the seamless integration FME Platform offers with cloud services and Excel right out of the box. The setup was refreshingly easy with a reliable installation wizard for FME, and I had it up and running in minutes. The quick setup for server-side components was straightforward, providing a functional base installation right away. It's great that FME acts as the cleanup crew that validates our data before it gets archived. Its ability to turn manual, repetitive chores into set-and-forget automations is unrivaled, and it boosts productivity significantly. Overall, in terms of functionality, it's a game changer. the no code environment is genuinely powerful i can set score a database sync using simple visual tools rather than writing hundreds of lines of code I also really appreciate how straightforward the initial setup is in a world where enterprise software usually takes weeks to configure I was able to get our first automated workflow running very quickly the live data view during the build process is also a delighter that makes it easy to confirm my logic is working in real
What do you dislike about the product?
While the software itself is top tier, the pricing model is a recurring point of friction. It's an expensive investment, especially for smaller teams or those of us who started out as self-made developers. I've noticed that recent changes to the commercial model have made it harder for individual power users to maintain a personal license. I firmly believe the pricing should be revised to be more favorable to smaller organizations or include a more accessible home tier again to keep the community growing.

I use FME Platform to automate manual data tasks, which saves time and reduces errors. It bridges our local and cloud systems effortlessly, transforming data workflows into automated processes, boosting productivity with consistent and validated data exchanges.
Transformative ETL Tool with Room for Admin Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
I rely heavily on the FME Platform, specifically its FME Form and FME Flow ecosystem, to build, deploy, and monitor complex data solutions. I find the automation framework within FME Flow to be the most valuable aspect. Using the desktop-based FME Form allows me to author logic, map transformers, and define data flows between disparate systems, which is super helpful for integration tasks. Once I've built the integration, I move it to FME Flow, which acts as the server-side engine handling scheduling, real-time event triggers, and automated notifications. It's effectively the orchestration layer allowing systems to communicate without constant human oversight. FME provides a high degree of customization that standard ETL tools can't match, which is great for building custom bridges that enhance system connectivity. I also appreciate the constant stream of new transformers, which means I'm rarely left without a solution for new data types or APIs. Plus, the ability to visualize data at every transformation step through feature caching is a massive time saver during the prototyping phase. Additionally, FME handles the heavy-duty data crunching and spatial transformations, integrating well with tools like Power Automate and alerting our support desk via Slack or Microsoft Teams when there are issues with critical ETL pipelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the engine is powerful, the operational overhead can be frustrating. Specifically, authentication management in FME Form feels fragmented, it often feels like every web service or database connection has a slightly different, inconsistent way of handling credentials, which makes consolidating enterprise security policies a chore. On the FME Flow side, the logging and system admin tools definitely need work. Diagnosing a failed job can be like looking for a needle in a haystack because the log files are cumbersome to navigate in the web UI. Furthermore, the system administration tools create unnecessary friction when trying to set up granular user permissions. Often, FME Flow ends up isolated on a virtual machine with very little interaction with the broader IT team's monitoring systems, making it feel like a black box in the organization's infrastructure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
FME Platform solves connectivity issues between siloed software systems, offering high customization and automation. It turns manual data entry into robust pipelines, enhances system communication without human oversight, and saves development time with its feature caching and modern transformers.
Powerful FME Form-to-Flow Automation
What do you like best about the product?
FME allows us to easily convert a number of different file formats on a regular basis without needing to even open the software the file is from. DWG files into GIS formats can be done on a reoccurring basis automating the process and reducing the time required for CAD to GIS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be complicated to setup the correct user parameters and setting when pushing from FME Form to Flow. It would be useful to streamline this process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of CAD files which need to be shared across the teams in different formats. FME allows for automation and self service tools to be created and used saving time. Even simple things like reprojection of files is streamlined and automated meaning the end user can self service these transformations using FME Flow web based applications.
Streamlined Data Transformations with FME Platform
What do you like best about the product?
I am really impressed with FME Platform's intuitive ease of use and its unmatched library of supported data types. The drag and drop interface, consistent across different data types like BIM models, point clouds, or simple CSVs, makes it very visual and accessible at every step of the process. There is a great array of readers and writers available out of the box, which means I often don't have to worry about whether a file format is supported because FME usually has a built-in transformer ready to handle it. The initial setup was remarkably painless, with a self-contained and stable installer that required no manual configuration of dependencies, allowing me to publish my first workspace and run a test job in under an hour. I also appreciate the implementation velocity that FME offers because it helps deliver functional ETL pipelines quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I had to find a fault, it would be in the automation section of FME Flow. While it's powerful, it can feel a little quirky compared to the sleekness of the desktop workbench. Setting up complex event-driven triggers sometimes requires a bit of trial and error to get the logic exactly right, and the way it handles refresh parameters can occasionally be counterintuitive. I've also noticed that the web interface for managing these automations can get a bit slow once you have a high volume of active jobs, making it slightly more cumbersome to navigate than I'd like during a high pressure troubleshooting session.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use FME Platform to boost implementation velocity in ETL processes, avoiding extensive custom coding. It bridges disparate data formats, allowing fast ETL pipeline deliveries and helping us meet deadlines efficiently.

Easy, Visual FME Workflows for Lean, Analysis-Ready GIS Data
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to create clear, repeatable workflows in FME for automating GIS data import, clipping, and reprojection. Being able to visually build these steps means I can consistently reduce datasets down to only what’s needed, resulting in leaner, analysis‑ready data and a more efficient workflow overall.
What do you dislike about the product?
FME can sometimes feel overly complex for very simple tasks. While it excels at handling advanced and automated workflows, setting up smaller, one‑off processes can feel more involved than necessary
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
FME Platform solves the challenge of efficiently managing and preparing large volumes of GIS data used across a university estates environment. Working with data from multiple sources and formats, FME allows me to automate tasks such as importing, clipping to campus extents, and reprojection. This benefits me by significantly reducing manual processing time, ensuring consistency across maps, and allowing me to focus more on producing accurate, up‑to‑date mapping outputs to support estates planning and decision‑making.
Efficient GIS Tool with Great Automation, Needs Viewer Fixes
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the ease of use and the efficiency of the FME Platform. I like the ability to cache each transformer, which makes debugging easier. The platform's custom transformers are great, especially the loop function that allows for tasks like buffering points until they reach a desired size. I find the data inspector really useful for viewing data and debugging, especially when trying to work out an issue with my output. I also enjoy using FME Platform to automate workflows, like utilizing .bat files to run FME automatically, call APIs, and generate summary emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the geospatial data viewer can be glitchy, not displaying data, or laggy. Also, when trying to just run to feature, it doesn’t accurately run all transformers before. Sometimes when trying to do a visual preview and view my 2D data, it won’t load at all - maybe this is because I have too much data. If I run my workspace and it hasn’t worked as intended (e.g., no features made it to the end), then if I want to try and re-run specific sections, sometimes it doesn’t pull through all of the data and tries to just run from an empty transformer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use FME Platform for data processing and converting formats. I find it easy to use and efficient, especially with caching and debugging. Custom transformers and the data inspector help with workflow automation, like buffering data points and inspecting outputs.
