Learning platform has provided practical labs and videos to achieve advanced certifications
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Red Hat Learning Subscription is to learn Red Hat-related certificate content and use the lab environment, primarily through video tutorials.
I recently completed RHCSA and RHCE certifications, and I used Red Hat Learning Subscription for learning this content. The video content was more helpful for earning certification, and the lab environment provides the advantage to practice in a real lab scenario similar to the exam lab setup.
What is most valuable?
The best features Red Hat Learning Subscription offers are the lab setups and video tutorials.
In the video tutorials, the instructor clearly explains theories through commands, which is very helpful for learning the content. The lab environment is easy to use for starting the virtual machine.
Red Hat Learning Subscription has positively impacted my organization by serving as a great advantage to gain knowledge and increase output to the company by improving skills regarding Red Hat and Linux knowledge.
By using Red Hat Learning Subscription, we gain more knowledge and it helps us earn more certifications. Our team has obtained Red Hat-related certifications after purchasing Red Hat Learning Subscription.
What needs improvement?
I have not identified any areas for improvement with Red Hat Learning Subscription.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Hands-on labs have transformed my theoretical studies and now support real business projects
What is our primary use case?
Red Hat Learning Subscription serves as my primary training environment to build a comprehensive end-to-end foundation in enterprise IT infrastructure. I use it most often to study Linux systems, which is also part of my UNISA exams in computer science, so it aligns well with my academic requirements. I have also started to learn infrastructure automation using Ansible and began to gain hands-on experience with containerization environments through OpenShift and OpenStack . I am working toward upskilling from fundamental Linux concepts all the way to cloud-native deployments while building the groundwork for my upcoming RHCSA certification.
A specific hands-on example involves my academic focus on distributed systems. Instead of only studying the theoretical architecture from the standard course at UNISA, I also used the guided labs for OpenShift and Podman courses to practically containerize applications and manage them with a cluster. I gained hands-on experience, not only theoretical knowledge, which allowed me to understand and write deployment configurations, spin up containers, and see firsthand how orchestration works in a production environment.
Additionally, I took advantage of the Python programming course and the Linux fundamentals to improve my scripting and network management capabilities beyond the common academic studies. These skills are important for future real-world projects that I would to develop. They helped me better understand secure DNS configuration and network filtering, while Python and system administration are proving to be incredibly useful as I plan to build a professional web portal for my family's transport business. These courses helped me directly transfer my theoretical understanding of concepts into practical applications, which is a huge added value.
What is most valuable?
One of the best features Red Hat Learning Subscription offers is the lab environments. I also get access to exclusive courses and chapters, along with lab environments that are still in development, so I can try out new Red Hat products' features before they are released to the general public. There is also expert chat and support available. If I get stuck on a lab or a concept, the platform offers real live, real-time chat support with certified Red Hat experts. Premium users also get access to live virtual instructor-led sessions. Red Hat Learning Subscription is really comprehensive and has many courses, videos, and specific career paths. For me, the best feature is surely the hands-on experience in the labs.
The platform definitely has a huge course catalog, which is impressive. Within a single subscription, I can transition from foundational programming like Python and Java right into advanced enterprise orchestration with OpenStack and OpenShift. The variety caters to both developers and system administrators. The platform is highly intuitive with regards to usability. The interface makes it seamless to switch between video lectures, written documentation, and the active lab environment without any friction. Progress tracking is also very clear, which has helped me focus and organize my thoughts during the learning path.
The biggest positive impact for me is how it has completely transformed my preparation for some of my university exams. Academic learning can sometimes be heavily theoretical, but having access to Red Hat Learning Subscription allows me to study for my exams with a much more hands-on approach. Instead of just memorizing concepts about operating systems and distributed systems, I actively configure and manage them in a lab. This shifts my entire approach to learning, moving from passively studying to practical execution. Not only does it help me succeed in my university exams, but it also gives me the practical confidence to tackle real-world projects. This has also helped me prepare for the RHCSA certification, which I would like to take next to conclude the study that I have been doing in Red Hat courses.
Academically, the hands-on experience translates into higher exam scores, particularly in system-focused exams and parallel programming exams because I can practically demonstrate the concepts rather than just recite theory. On a project level, the impact is substantial. While working on the back-end development of my new family transport business, I set up the environment and resolved networking issues significantly faster, cutting my troubleshooting and deployment time substantially.
What needs improvement?
While the platform is excellent overall, I think the main area for improvement would be adding even more practical resources and hands-on labs. The current guided labs are fantastic for learning initial concepts, but it would be incredibly useful to have more unguided, real-world troubleshooting scenarios or projects. This would allow learners to bridge the gap between following a step-by-step tutorial and facing a complex, unstructured problem, making the learning experience even better. More of these challenging practical resources would further prepare learners for not just exams but for the unpredictable nature of real-world production environments.
Regarding course updates, one thing I would improve is having clearer transition guides between course versions. While navigating the catalog, I have noticed some courses have multiple active iterations, such as the Enterprise Linux Automation with Ansible course for both 8.4 and 9.0. It would be incredibly helpful if the platform highlighted the specific differences or updates introduced in the new release, making it more accessible.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
How are customer service and support?
I did not really rely on the expert chat support since if I had a problem with theoretical aspects, I would ask my professors. My primary focus is on working through the course materials and self-troubleshooting, which I consider a crucial skill for a system administrator. The course documentation, especially for complex topics like OpenShift and Ansible, is generally clear enough that I can solve most of the issues and figure out the configurations on my own.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I did not previously use a different enterprise learning platform nor did I evaluate using other options before starting. The main reason is straightforward. Red Hat Learning Subscription was provided directly by my university, so since Red Hat is the absolute industry standard for Enterprise Linux administration, there was no need to look for an alternate solution. It was the perfect fit for my academic and professional goals.
What was our ROI?
Since the financial cost was covered by the university, my primary investment is time, and the return on that time has been excellent. The most tangible metric is the efficiency gained on practical projects. By applying the Linux and networking skills I learned, I cut my troubleshooting and setup time by at least half while developing the project for my family's business. Academically, the return on investment is reflected in higher grades, particularly in my system exams, parallel programming exams, and distributed systems, as the hands-on labs allow me to deeply understand the architecture rather than just memorizing it. The greatest return is in career readiness, as the platform successfully bridges the gap between academic theory and enterprise practice.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I did not deal with pricing, setup costs, or licensing at all since the subscription was provided to me completely free of charge through a partnership between Red Hat and my university. The university's IT administration department handles all the licensing and deployment on their end. My experience was purely end-to-end, so I was simply given access to the portal to log in and start learning.
What other advice do I have?
My biggest piece of advice is not to passively watch the video lectures or read the documentation while skimming through it. The true value of Red Hat Learning Subscription lies in the practical cloud-based labs. If you are a university student dealing with heavy theoretical concepts or a professional aiming for a certification, you must get your hands dirty. You need to treat the platform as a sandbox, so do not be afraid to break things, test configurations, and actively try them. The sooner you shift from passive reading to active execution, the faster you will see growth in your professional profile. I would rate my overall experience with Red Hat Learning Subscription a 9 out of 10.
Learning paths have transformed my Linux skills and have enabled confident container migrations
What is our primary use case?
I have been using Red Hat Learning Subscription for two years of my career, specifically during my time at a partner company called Locaweb, where I took good courses.
My main use case for Red Hat Learning Subscription was the need to migrate my experience from Windows to Linux, where I already had good knowledge of Linux, and in this case, Red Hat helped me refine my knowledge for improvements. Today, I work entirely with Linux, I can work with Docker , I am learning about Kubernetes in my specialization, and having all the previous knowledge I gained with Red Hat Learning Subscription helped me a lot to understand the subjects that I am now able to understand better and master.
Red Hat Learning Subscription helped me in this migration process and refinement of my Linux knowledge by enabling me to progress beyond just knowing basic Linux commands, where I was previously limited to copying and pasting ready-made commands. When I studied on Red Hat Learning Subscription, I really learned each command, understood the reason for each command, and learned to think in Linux.
What is most valuable?
Red Hat Learning Subscription was truly innovative because, unlike other companies that simply provide tutorials to read, Red Hat Learning Subscription provided a more comprehensive approach that included tutorials, practical application through a virtual platform, and hands-on testing. The existence of the virtual platform that forces you to test is very important.
The virtualization aspect is another valuable feature that I consider important because having the virtualization of study environments greatly aids anyone who is studying.
Red Hat Learning Subscription has had a positive impact on my organization as I literally managed to run some services in Docker , successfully moving services from Windows to Linux, which improved the performance of some applications. The migration enabled me to convert servers that were previously dedicated to simple applications into containers, and the knowledge I acquired studying containers with Red Hat allowed me to complete the migration without errors. This improvement has resulted in good infrastructure, and part of it has already been migrated to Linux thanks to the knowledge I gained from Red Hat.
In my opinion, the best features that Red Hat Learning Subscription offers are mainly focused on learning, as Red Hat is a company recognized internationally as the center of Linux enterprise, and everyone pays attention when Red Hat speaks about Linux, understanding its impact on the enterprise.
What needs improvement?
Red Hat Learning Subscription could be improved by offering a free version for beginners. However, I believe it is already a truly perfect teaching platform. I was able to study at Red Hat Learning Subscription thanks to the partnership between Locaweb and Red Hat, and I am grateful to both companies for their roles, with Red Hat Learning Subscription providing high-quality education and Locaweb granting me this opportunity. However, after leaving Locaweb, I attempted to access courses and found that Red Hat Learning Subscription is exclusively paid, which led me to realize that launching some free courses for enthusiasts who want to learn at least the basics of Linux would be an interesting addition.
For how long have I used the solution?
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I would rate the scalability of Red Hat Learning Subscription a 10.
I give this maximum score for scalability because following the prescribed path effectively enhances one's knowledge, ensuring a consistent growth trajectory.
How are customer service and support?
My experience with customer support for Red Hat Learning Subscription has been good, and I found the support to be very helpful.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used a different solution for learning Linux in that I studied on my own. However, I switched to Red Hat Learning Subscription because I did not know where to start. Red Hat Learning Subscription's structured approach from basics to advanced topics helped immensely; I think the direction provided is the key differentiator because knowing where to start and having a clear path to follow is vital.
How was the initial setup?
My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing for Red Hat Learning Subscription was good. During my studies, I received vouchers from the partner company, which I found fair in price, not only due to the pricing of a large company but because of a quality of teaching that was substantially superior to others I had encountered. I ensured that every cent the company invested in my education was worthwhile.
What about the implementation team?
In my current organization, Red Hat Learning Subscription is not implemented, but we do work with some devices that are Red Hat.
What was our ROI?
I have obtained a return on investment from my Red Hat Learning Subscription training, as it allowed me to negotiate a better job with a higher salary. I attempted to achieve the same within the company that provided the Red Hat Learning Subscription courses, but although they acknowledged my value, they could not significantly increase my income, prompting me to pursue other opportunities. Nonetheless, having the Red Hat Learning Subscription credential on my résumé opened doors to other great opportunities, enabling me to negotiate a higher salary and secure employment thanks to my certifications and studies.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing for Red Hat Learning Subscription was good.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I evaluated other options before choosing Red Hat Learning Subscription, specifically Linux Tip, which is also a company dedicated to learning Linux.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others considering Red Hat Learning Subscription is to recognize it as the best choice for learning Linux and all related topics, including Kubernetes , containers, and OpenShift, as Red Hat Learning Subscription provides a very stable view of how to proceed if you lack direction. I give Red Hat Learning Subscription a rating of 10.
