Overview
SSIS Connector for Atlan automates the discovery, extraction, and cataloging of metadata and end-to-end data lineage from Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages into Atlan's data governance platform. The connector enables organizations to improve data discovery, governance, and impact analysis by automatically cataloging SSIS projects, packages, datasets, transformations, and column-level lineage.
Built on the Atlan Application SDK and orchestrated using Temporal workflows, the connector reads SSIS project files (.dtproj) and package files (.dtsx) stored in Azure Blob Storage. It parses control flows, data flows, tasks, containers, connection managers, and transformations, converting them into Atlan assets with detailed metadata and lineage relationships.

Automatic discovery and parsing of .dtproj and .dtsx files stored in Azure Blob Storage. End-to-end metadata extraction for SSIS projects, packages, tasks, datasets, and transformations. Column-level lineage showing source-to-target data movement across SSIS pipelines. Support for multiple data sources, including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Blob Storage, and Flat Files. SQL dialect-aware lineage parsing for SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and MySQL. Temporal workflow orchestration with automatic retries, heartbeat monitoring, and fault tolerance. OAuth 2.0 (Azure AD) authentication with secure token refresh for long-running extractions. Pre-extraction validation of authentication and connectivity. Resilient processing that continues extracting metadata even if individual SSIS packages encounter errors.
The connector provides a scalable and automated approach to ingesting SSIS metadata into Atlan, helping data engineers, data stewards, and governance teams improve data visibility, lineage, compliance, and impact analysis across enterprise data integration pipelines.
