Time-Saving Synchronous Editing, but a Learning Curve and Slowdowns on Large Assemblies

    Reviewed on Apr 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Solid Edge is how easy it is to work with when modifying designs. The synchronous technology makes a big difference, especially when you need to quickly adjust parts without going through a complex feature tree. From my experience working on engineering and robotics-related projects, this saves a lot of time during iterations. I also like how smoothly it handles both 2D and 3D workflows, which makes it practical for moving from initial ideas to detailed designs without friction.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I find challenging about Solid Edge is that some features are not very intuitive at first, especially when working with more advanced tools or complex assemblies. There is a bit of a learning curve, and certain workflows feel less streamlined compared to other CAD tools. I also noticed that performance can slow down when handling large assemblies, which can interrupt the design process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps solve the problem of efficiently designing, modifying, and validating mechanical components without slowing down the development process. In many engineering projects, especially in robotics or product design, requirements change frequently, and traditional CAD tools can make modifications time-consuming. With Solid Edge’s synchronous technology, I can quickly adjust designs without rebuilding the entire model, which significantly speeds up iteration. It also helps in visualizing and validating assemblies early, reducing errors before moving to implementation. This directly benefits me by saving time, improving design accuracy, and making the overall workflow more flexible and efficient.

    Real-Time Collaboration, User Limit Improvable

    Reviewed on Apr 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I find Designcenter Solid Edge very practical, especially the use of Temacenter Share for sharing files and projects in real-time. It allows us to have all 3D models updated and avoids errors when working on outdated parts. Additionally, by working in the cloud, it saves us from using hard drives to send very large models, as everything is in the cloud. I also appreciate the support, which was very effective in solving the initial problems within a few days after a couple of email exchanges.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the limitations we have with Teamcenter Share is the limit on the number of people that can be added to each project, as we have reached the limit and there are still people who are not included.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designcenter Solid Edge allows us to have updated 3D models, avoiding errors due to outdated versions. Also, by being in the cloud, we avoid using hard drives to share large files.

Solid Edge: Powerful for Digital Twin Creation with Room for AI Enhancement

    Reviewed on Apr 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like the simplicity of Designcenter Solid Edge and how it's laid out. It makes it easy to access all the features, which are plentiful. It's also easy to duplicate my work. I can effortlessly create any product and download specific items, like a motor with its dimensions, from the company's website to upload into Solid Edge. This is done very simply, allowing me to build around it for the intended purpose. Additionally, I can create a full autonomous digital tool, which is invaluable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, in my opinion, as good as it is, and nowadays with AI and AI advancements, it should be more straightforward that we should no longer need to have to design as much, but rather tell it what we need to design and then rather the small changes to fix it up and to match our calls. AI should be implemented a lot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Designcenter Solid Edge to create digital twins and test models. It solves the problem of not knowing how things will work in real life. It helps identify weak stress points in structures using finite element analysis.

Incredibly Easy-to-Use AI Platform with a Clean Interface and Excellent Support

    Reviewed on Apr 02, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It is incredibly easy to use, even for beginners in AI. I particularly enjoy the clean and intuitive interface, which makes navigating and experimenting with AI tools a seamless experience. The platform is responsive, user-friendly, and designed to help users get results quickly without any steep learning curve. The support and resources available are excellent, and it’s clear that the team behind it values user experience. Overall, it’s a powerful tool that combines functionality with simplicity—highly recommended for anyone exploring AI.
What do you dislike about the product?
One notable challenge is the learning curve for beginners. The sheer number of options and capabilities can feel overwhelming to new users, making it difficult to quickly become proficient. Additionally, the interface, while robust, can sometimes appear cluttered, especially when navigating between assemblies, parts, and templates. This can reduce overall intuitiveness and make certain tasks more time-consuming than necessary.

Another limitation is its performance with large or complex assemblies. Handling sizable projects can occasionally lead to slower response times, which may impact productivity. Moreover, cross-version compatibility remains a concern. Importing designs from older versions of Solid Edge or from other CAD software can sometimes result in minor glitches or loss of metadata, creating additional work for designers. Finally, while Solid Edge provides documentation and help resources, certain advanced features in DesignCenter are not always thoroughly explained, leaving users to rely on trial and error to understand them fully.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One major problem it addresses is the difficulty of reusing and organizing design elements. Without a centralized system, designers can spend significant time searching for parts, assemblies, or templates, leading to inefficiencies and inconsistent designs. DesignCenter provides a structured library of resources that can be easily browsed, searched, and reused, ensuring that designers have quick access to the components they need.

Another problem it tackles is maintaining consistency across projects. By enabling users to store and reuse standardized parts and templates, DesignCenter helps reduce errors and ensures that design practices remain uniform across teams. It also simplifies collaboration, as shared libraries make it easier for multiple users to work on a project without duplicating work or creating version conflicts.

For me, the benefits of DesignCenter are clear. It saves time by allowing me to quickly locate and insert parts or assemblies, reduces mistakes by promoting standardization, and improves overall workflow efficiency. Rather than spending hours recreating components, I can focus on innovation and problem-solving, making my design process more productive and less stressful.
