AI-driven security has boosted threat detection and reduces incident response time

    Reviewed on Jun 09, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson 's main use case for my organization is cybersecurity threat detection and response. It helps us monitor security events, detect threats, investigate incidents, and respond to cybersecurity challenges.

A specific example of how I've used IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson  for threat detection and incident response occurred when QRadar detected a suspicious privileged account. It helped us investigate and contain the compromised account quickly, which represented a smarter response.

Besides threat detection and incident response, I use IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson for continuous security monitoring, log analysis, threat hunting, and compliance reporting. It helps to centralize security data.

    What is most valuable?

The best features IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson offers are AI-powered alert triage, automated threat investigation, SIEM  collaboration and SOAR  automations, threat intelligence integrations, and user behavior analytics. These features help the security team detect threats faster, reduce false positives, and respond to incidents more effectively.

The biggest hidden benefit of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is how much time it saves through event correlation and automation, not just threat detection.

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has improved threat detection, reduced response time, and increased overall security team efficiency in my organization.

    What needs improvement?

To improve IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, I would like to see easier setup, simpler customization, and even better false positive reduction.

Better cloud integrations for IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson would be another needed improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson for the last two years.

    How was the initial setup?

My advice to others looking into using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson would be to invest time in proper planning and tuning during the initial setup. The platform is very powerful, but it delivers the most value when your sources are well-integrated and your use cases are clearly defined. Focus on a good setup.

    What was our ROI?

Organizations typically see a strong return on investment with IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson through improved analyst efficiency and reduced incident response time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with the pricing, setup cost, and licensing of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is that it's enterprise-grade and relatively expensive with a complex license based on data volume, but it offers strong security value in return.

What other advice do I have?

We use Microsoft Azure  as the cloud provider for our hybrid deployment of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson.

Regarding IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson's AI capabilities, it has strong access control and auditability, but could improve transparency and customization of AI decisions.

The AI capabilities of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson are generally accurate and reliable, especially when it comes to correlating events and prioritizing alerts. It's reliable for alerts and prioritization, but accuracy depends on the data quality and tuning, with some false positives.

We have reduced investigation and response time by approximately thirty to fifty percent with IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson and improved analyst efficiency by cutting down on false positives. I would rate this product an eight out of ten.

Centralized controls have reduced mobile data costs and improved oversight of user devices

    Reviewed on Jun 07, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson  is controlling my company's devices, controlling users, what they can access, and what they can download, as well as controlling mobile data.

A quick, specific example of how this device and mobile data control helped my team in day-to-day work is that since there were many devices, we had no idea what was being used or how our data was being spent. With IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson , we were able to optimize and understand what was being spent and managed to save money.

Regarding this use case or any other benefit I noticed in the control of the devices, there is nothing else to add.

    What is most valuable?

The best features that IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson offers include being able to control what is going to be installed in the app and what can and cannot be installed, as well as the external management capability.

Regarding the external management, I can explain that it is the ability to install apps and remove apps from a group of users from my computer, regardless of where they are.

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has had a positive impact on my organization through mobile data cost savings. This generated data that was limited per device, creating savings because users did not use it for non-work-related activities.

To elaborate more on this savings, we were able to measure the cost reduction at the beginning.

    What needs improvement?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson could be improved because I noticed that the internet cycle for mobile data lasted the whole month, whereas without this software, it lasted less than a month's cycle, usually around 15 days before users' mobile data ran out.

I would add that there is nothing else about the necessary improvements or any point that could be refined on the platform.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson in my experience is that it is scalable within the organization.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support we received came directly from the company that sold it to us rather than directly from IBM, but it was good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use a different solution previously.

    What was our ROI?

Regarding return on investment, I can share relevant metrics with you, such as cost savings on mobile data, but this was not within my responsibilities.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing is that this part was not within my responsibilities.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, I did not evaluate other options, as it was not me who evaluated them. I was the analyst and this evaluation was not within my responsibilities.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to other people who are thinking about using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is that it is a good tool from a very qualified company and they can choose it with confidence. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson  serves as our primary solution for mobile device management and enterprise mobility management. We use it to securely manage, monitor, and enforce security policies across corporate mobile devices, applications, and endpoints while ensuring compliance and data protection.

In our day-to-day operations, we use IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson  to manage employee smartphones and tablets remotely. For example, when a new employee joins, we can quickly enroll their device, configure corporate email and business applications, and apply security policies automatically. The solution also helps us monitor device compliance and remotely lock or wipe a device if it is lost or stolen, ensuring company data remains secure.

    What is most valuable?

One of the key benefits of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is its centralized management console, which makes it easy to manage a large number of devices from a single platform. The solution helps improve security, simplify device provisioning, enforce compliance policies, and reduce the time required for IT administration. The AI-driven insights from Watson also help identify potential security risks and support faster decision-making.

The best features of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson are its centralized device management, strong security controls, and AI-powered insights. I particularly value the ability to remotely manage and secure devices, enforce compliance policies, distribute applications, and perform remote lock or wipe actions when needed. The Watson-powered analytics provide useful security recommendations and risk insights, helping IT teams identify potential threats and make faster decisions, while its unified dashboard makes managing a large number of devices much more efficient.

The AI-powered insights from Watson have helped our team proactively identify potential security and compliance issues before they become major problems. For example, Watson can highlight devices that are running outdated operating systems or are not compliant with company security policies. Instead of manually reviewing hundreds of devices, our IT team receives prioritized recommendations and alerts, allowing us to address risks much faster. This has improved our workflow by reducing manual monitoring effort and helping us focus on the most critical security issues first.

Another feature I appreciate is the platform's ease of deployment and cross-platform support, as it allows us to manage Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS devices from a single console, which simplifies administration and improves visibility across the organization. The reporting and compliance capabilities are also valuable, as they help us maintain security standards while reducing the operational workload for the IT team.

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has had a positive impact on our organization by improving device security, streamlining endpoint management, and reducing the time spent on routine IT tasks. The platform has enabled us to enforce security policies consistently across all managed devices, improve compliance, and respond more quickly to potential security risks. It has also streamlined device onboarding and application deployment, helping employees become productive faster while reducing the administrative burden on the IT team.

Since implementing IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, we have seen a noticeable reduction in the time required to provision and manage devices. Device onboarding that previously took hours can now be completed in minutes through automated enrollment and policy deployment. We also have improved compliance visibility across our device fleet and reduced the effort spent on manual security monitoring. Additionally, faster identification of non-compliant or at-risk devices has helped us respond to security issues more efficiently and minimize potential risks to corporate data.

    What needs improvement?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is a strong endpoint management solution, though there is room for improvement. The user interface could be more intuitive, especially for new administrators, and some advanced configurations can be complex to navigate. The reporting and dashboard customization could also be enhanced to provide more flexibility for different business needs, and improving the speed of policy synchronization and expanding integration options with third-party security and IT management tools would further enhance the overall user experience.

Another area for improvement would be simplifying troubleshooting and providing more detailed guidance within the platform when issues occur. While the solution is feature-rich, some settings and workflows can have a learning curve for new administrators. Enhanced documentation, more contextual help, and additional automation capabilities for routine administrative tasks would make the platform even easier to manage. Improving report generation speeds and offering more customizable alerting options would also add value for IT and security teams.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson for approximately one and a half to two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has been a stable and reliable platform in our experience. The service has delivered consistent performance for device management, policy enforcement, application deployment, and compliance monitoring. We have experienced minimal downtime, and the cloud-based architecture has ensured regular updates and high availability. Overall, it has proven to be a dependable solution for managing and securing enterprise devices at scale.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson offers strong scalability. As our organization grew and the number of managed devices increased, the platform was able to scale without significant changes to our infrastructure or management processes. The cloud-based architecture makes it easy to add new users, devices, and security policies while maintaining performance and centralized visibility, making it suitable for both small organizations and large enterprises with thousands of devices.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has generally been good, with the support team being knowledgeable and responsive, especially for critical issues. We have found the documentation, knowledge base, and support resources helpful for resolving common questions and configuration challenges. While response times can vary depending on the complexity and priority of the issue, overall, the support experience has been positive and has helped us maintain smooth day-to-day operations.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before adopting IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, we used a basic mobile device management solution that provided core device management capabilities but lacked advanced security, compliance, and analytics features. We switched to IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson because we needed a more comprehensive platform with stronger security controls, better policy management, centralized administration, and AI-driven insights. The ability to manage multiple device types from a single console and improve compliance visibility were also key factors in our decision to migrate.

    What was our ROI?

We have seen a positive return on investment from IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, primarily through time savings and improved operational efficiency. Device onboarding and policy deployment are now largely automated, reducing the amount of manual work required from the IT team. Tasks that previously took hours can often be completed in minutes. The centralized management and compliance monitoring capabilities have also reduced the effort needed to manage and secure devices, allowing IT staff to focus on higher-value projects. While we do not track specific cost-saving metrics, the reduction in administration workload, faster issue resolution, and improved security posture have delivered clear business value.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with the pricing, setup costs, and licensing of IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has been generally positive. The subscription-based licensing model is straightforward and allows organizations to scale according to the number of devices and features required. The initial setup cost was reasonable compared to the value provided by the platform, particularly considering the security, compliance, and device management capabilities included. While advanced features can increase the overall cost, the solution offers good value for organizations that need a comprehensive endpoint management platform.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before selecting IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, we evaluated several other unified endpoint management and mobile device management solutions, including Microsoft Intune , VMware Workspace ONE , and Jamf. We compared them based on security features, device management capabilities, ease of administration, reporting, compliance controls, and overall cost. IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson stood out because of its strong security focus, AI-powered insights from Watson, comprehensive device management capabilities, and centralized management experience.

What other advice do I have?

The AI capabilities in IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson are generally accurate and reliable for identifying potential security risks, compliance issues, and device management insights. The recommendations are usually relevant and help prioritize areas that require attention. While AI-generated insights should still be reviewed by IT administrators before taking action, they serve as valuable decision-support tools that reduce manual effort and help teams respond more quickly to potential issues. Overall, I have found the output to be consistent, practical, and beneficial for day-to-day operations.

My advice to organizations considering IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is to clearly define their device management, security, and compliance requirements before implementation and to take advantage of the platform's automation, policy management, and AI-driven insights to maximize value.
