    Versatile, Detailed, and Helpful Support

    Reviewed on Jun 04, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I really love how detailed Panopto is and the many different editing options available. I also appreciate the ability to search the AI-generated transcript for words or phrases that may not have been captured accurately. The search, find, and replace feature makes it easy to quickly make edits without spending hours on video editing. Additionally, I've found the support team very helpful, particularly Steve Lyons, our account manager, who provides valuable training materials, meets with us when we have questions, and connects us to the support team as needed. Also, Nate Denlinger has been amazing to work with on some of our more complex technical issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that it is not super intuitive to someone who is not tech savvy or well-versed with educational technology. It has so many background settings items that it can be overwhelming. When one is trying to find the correct setup for the videos or who is going to be able to access and share them, the setup from an administrative side is much too complex.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Panopto to record on-demand tutorial videos for faculty, enhancing course design, assessments, and engagement. It helps faculty record and upload lectures for better accessibility. I love the detailed editing options and the ease of editing videos with the search and replace feature.

Seamless LMS Integration with an Engaging, Notes-and-Slides Video Experience

    Reviewed on Jun 01, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto integrates smoothly with our LMS and lets students watch videos while viewing notes and slides at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the editing interface confusing, and it’s been difficult to explain it clearly to faculty. We’ve also run into issues with the mobile app, where students are sometimes unable to upload their recordings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto helps us make better use of our audio/video classroom setups to deliver a stronger experience for online and hybrid students. It also supports our efforts to stay compliant with WCAG guidelines thanks to its accessibility features and services.

Excellent Video Platform with Editable Captions, Keyword Search, LMS Integration

    Reviewed on May 29, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto is a video platform - one of its enduring qualities is the viewer interface, specifically, its many useful options for the viewer of the video. Panopto also has strong useful options for the creator of the video on this platform.

Once a video is created or uploaded to Panopto, a transcript is created from the dialog. That functions as closed captioning for accessibility. The creator can easily see and edit the transcript before publishing/sharing the video. The viewer can do more than just read the cc. The viewer can search the cc for any text, which jumps the video to that spot: very helpful for longer videos, like a lecture recording.

The viewer can add bookmarks, extensive notes, and create and share discussions, in a class setting, for example. The interface offers 10-second forward and back buttons to repeat missed content, or skip ahead in small increments.

The creator has useful features including timeline video editing, fixing the closed caption transcript, inserting quiz questions and discussion points that pause the video until answered. Artificial intelligence features include ai viewer analytics and even language translation options.

In my case, Panopto is integrated with our university's LMS (learning management system). Its features make it an easy to use video tool within our LMS.

Its pricing structure, especially for storing video content, make it an economical decision to employ.

Its support structure is thorough, offering not help articles, many short, useful support video clips, longer use case videos and webinars. The support web pages are neatly organized and easy for both viewers (students) and creators to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most Panopto features are extensive and useful. The video editor, that video creators use, is limited. Because Panopto is not primarily a video editor, it lacks many features that some video editing apps have. It is also not that intuitive for the first-time creator to use; hence there is a bit of a learning curve to understanding how it works, and the limitations that it has.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instead of problems I would call them needs.
Panopto is a cost-effective solution for creating, storing and sharing videos across our large university. It fills these needs, as well as producing and providing accessible video content that is easy to use. It offers high quality performance at a good cost, making it a good investment for our (university) needs.

Easy All-in-One Video Platform with Great Zoom Integration and Training

    Reviewed on May 20, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Panopto provides Madonna University faculty with an easy-to-use, all-in-one platform for recording, editing, captioning, and securely sharing course videos directly within the learning management system. Panopto – Zoom integration is one of the features that our faculty really appreciate. Panopto allowed our faculty to come up with alternative options for creating assignments.
For students, Panopto is a resource that does not require heavy training. It is very easy to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't speak to that, as I am a big fan of the tool. I did hear a couple of comments from our adjunct faculty stating that Panopto's editing interface feels a bit overwhelming. However, these faculty also said that Panopto's training materials are great. Reviewing them helped figure things out relatively quickly. I think Panopto, as any other tool, requires a minute or two to get used to, but once you do, you realize how intuitive Panopto is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before adopting Panopto, Madonna University used Knowmia for video creation and hosting, but it lacked several features that faculty and staff needed. One major improvement with Panopto has been its seamless integration with Zoom, allowing cloud recordings to be automatically transferred into Panopto for editing, captioning, and secure sharing. Panopto’s tight integration with Bb Learn is another significant advantage: faculty can embed videos directly into their courses, and students access them without needing separate links or accounts. Faculty also appreciate that they can edit videos in Panopto without changing the video URL, which is especially helpful when courses are copied from one semester to the next.
The Instructional Design and Development department not only supports Panopto, but relies on it extensively to create training videos for faculty and students. Because recording and editing are so straightforward, other departments across campus, including the library and TRIO, have also adopted Panopto for tutorials, workshops, and support materials. In short, we previously struggled with multiple disconnected tools and manual processes, but now we have a single, easy-to-use platform that has improved efficiency, reduced support complexity, and expanded the use of video throughout the university.

Panopto reliable and intuitive, and excellent LTI integration with Blackboard

    Reviewed on May 08, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
In these years, Panopto has always proven to be very reliable: we have never experienced any service disruptions, and when a small problem arose, it was resolved effectively and immediately. The support staff has also always been knowledgeable and has collaborated in a concrete and timely manner. Furthermore, the excellent implementation of the integration with Blackboard via LTI is of fundamental importance. Finally, the user interface has always been easy to use and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
In some cases, the management of drag and drop operations is not very efficient and forces me to move the videos one at a time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Panopto is an excellent VMS and represents an essential support for Blackboard, which so far has not equipped itself with truly effective video storage and editing tools.
