Zesty Commitment Manager Review
What do you like best about the product?
Once configured and operating, the CM tool is a hands-off tool that manages reserved instances on our behalf. With the coverage guarantee in place, we can safely push our coverage to 100% without concern about overcommitting to a RI that might no longer be used.
What do you dislike about the product?
The CM tool is still a work in progress - specifically in terms of what types of workloads it optimizes. As a large, decentralized (and multi-cloud) user, we would like to expand our use of the CM tool into more areas that match our growth, e.g., RDS or Azure workloads.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The CM tool allows us to be more aggressive in our RI coverage (near 100%) without fear of overcommitment - and spending money - on resources that are no longer in use.

Relatively high commission rate on savings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zesty allows us to run a large chunk of our very dynamic AWS infrastructure on 3-year commitment RIs, resulting in very significant cost savings that were otherwise difficult to achieve for us.

What do you like best about the product?
In Zesty, we can configure the maximum disk size via our dashboard, and notifications will be immediately sent when the maximum disk size has been reached. It provides efficient reshuffling in which, for shrinking the filesystem, it automatically finds the ideal period to perform this filesystem optimization activity. This is done by automatically merging volumes for workload capacity management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Zesty evaluates the filesystem usage utilization through its read/write metrics and automatically shrinks the EBS disk by detaching volumes for optimizing unused capacity. Hence our storage cost is effectively reduced by Zetsy, and I have no issues using it for optimizing EBS volumes attached to our AWS EC2 instances.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Forecasting of the required storage capacity is a concern for our organization in the AWS platform, and Zesty uses predictive algorithms for the gradual expansion of storage for our SDAN EC2 instances. Zesty agents have a dedicated one-way communication channel through which it operates filesystem utilization metrics with HTTPS. For avoiding service degradation and EBS failure, it continuously monitors & ensures high availability and performance. For our production environment, we utilize Zesty's manual BTRFS feature in which an approval request is sent to our client whenever there is a requirement to merge or detach EBS volume.
After making the right adjustments, the service works and provides great value.
What do you like best about the product?
Almost complete hands-off RI management platform. When utilized, can provide an average of 50% savings on EC2 costs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need to pay attention when using new/uncommon instance types since the algorithm won't cover them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
RI management and maximize savings for steady workloads. Not only does it help you by taking off the burden of managing RI's on your own, but it also gets better savings% by getting the most valuable RI plan without the constrain of long term commitment to a specific instance type or family.

The service is working in the background and purchasing RIs for your account, thus reducing costs.
Fully covered, zero effort, no risk. That simple.
What do you like best about the product?
For a fair fee derived from the savings, I get my On Demand running instances fully covered with RI / Savings Plans, with a potentially higher discount rate than what I'd get by committing for a year. The best part is that there's nothing to do from my end in order to have this running, no renewals, free of risk. one more thing that I like is Zesty's team- very professional, proactive, and fast responding.

I would suggest improving the dashboards, but that's relateively insignificant.

Amazing savings, completely automated
What do you like best about the product?
It’s fast, simple, and does what it says it does. We saved significantly on EC2 with no effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been some minor bugs/UX issues, but they usually get fixed fast.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to Zesty, we were relying too heavily on on-demand resources and oftentimes, overprovisioned our EC2 commitments since our needs were so unpredictable. Zesty automatically purchases and sells RIs and Savings plans according to our real-time needs so this is no longer an issue.
