My main use case for Tableau is to develop dashboards and automate the reporting process.

What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
The best features of Tableau that I admire the most are that it's user-friendly, intuitive, and the visual aspect is impressive.
I have used interactive dashboards for real-time data collaboration, and they are beneficial because they give insight in a way that's visually appealing to the user. The tendency to retain the information is larger than a standard report.
What needs improvement?
I had a thought about how Tableau can be improved regarding the visuals and borders. I had a frustrating time with the borders a few weeks ago. When trying to make them all the same and shade the border, you have to shade all four sides. You cannot create a line per side. It's one of those small nuances where it's all general, and you cannot make specific changes.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have approximately eight years of experience working with Tableau.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
I'm a user and did not use an integrator, reseller, or consultant for my deployment, as the people from data architectures are the ones that deploy it. Once everything is set up, I just use it, and I don't have experience setting it up.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of Tableau is pretty good, as I have not encountered anything problematic. What I appreciate about Tableau is that they have updates periodically, and some of those updates are actually quite useful.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Regarding the scalability of Tableau, I think it can scale effectively. It's capable of handling large amounts of data. I haven't encountered any scalability issues, as I haven't worked with data volumes that caused trouble running.
How are customer service and support?
I'm not in a position to fully rate the technical support from Tableau, as I've had limited interaction with them. However, based on my experience, I would rate them a nine. They do respond and are pretty responsive to their clients.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have substantial experience with solutions in the analytics industry. I was searching for tools because my company was looking for information to compare different options, which led me to the Peer platform. I have experience with Tableau and Power BI, but I don't have Domo experience.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Tableau is relatively easy for me, as I've been using Tableau for a while now.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I have experience with the main differences between Tableau and Power BI, and understand the pros and cons between these tools. Generally, the visuals are nicer in Tableau, but there's a wider array of functionalities to choose from in Power BI. That's the main difference, including the formulas.
What other advice do I have?
They're still exploring the primary cloud provider for Tableau, so I'm not sure yet which direction the company plans to take.
I'm not sure if I purchased this solution directly through the AWS marketplace.
I don't normally use Tableau for the analytics capabilities such as ad hoc analysis, as I usually just use Excel for that.
Regarding the price of Tableau that I used to think was expensive, they've changed their pricing model recently. There's no minimum number of viewers that you have to purchase. A company can purchase just a few creator licenses and mostly viewers, so pricing-wise it's competitive. It can compete with solutions Power BI.
On a scale of 1-10, I rate Tableau an 8.
