Best Visualisation Software

  • April 29, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use, the suggestions provided, and the stunningly amazing graphics. I feel like tableau does a better job tidying up your visualisation than any other viz software..
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't quite the like of difficulty of sharing our visualisation online, the sharing option has improved a lot in the past few years but I would like it to be more easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used tableau for my Data Visualisation course project and publishing visualisation(s) online.

Tableau Desktop Review

  • April 28, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I absolutely love Tableau! Data visualizations are huge now, and it is ideal to get a head start on how to best use and display data. People understand raw numbers quite well, but the colors and the "applied" nature of creating a data visualization allow for a different degree of learning and understanding the content.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've had to take some free courses about how to navigate the system. It's not hard if I could spend a while trying to figure it out, but it is no intuitive (not saying that it has to be). A better explanation, perhaps for which data points correlate to which capabilities in the system would be helpful. What are the implications of nominal, ordinal, and interval variables? What are the possibilities?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am currently using Tableau to understand data form higher education. We are trying to get our university to get us a contract for Tableau, because many other universities are using manipulatable dashboards on their websites so that (prospective) students and their families can understand some data, particularly housed in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a wonderful tool! Data visualizations are where data science is heading, and it would be awesome if your organization could get ahead in this way! Too, the graphs and things it spits out would be wonderful additions to powerpoint presentations, reports, articles, and to be live on websites.

Slightly overwhelming to use, but robust and extremely powerful

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoyed creating dashboards to show some data to coworkers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some data I imported from Excel needed to be groomed in a way for Tableau to best understand it. Coming in with pivot tables in mind did not make things easy at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It’s been great to be able to visualize data in a way that makes it easy to switch between different views and ways to view data. This is something that isn’t as intuitive in Excel.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Stick with it, watch the training videos on Tableau.com, and take an in-person training if you’re able to. It’ll allow you to use Tableau to its full potential.

Tableau - Great for data mining

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau desktop provides me access to gather/sort the data I need from the overwhelming volume of servers/tables/databases within our organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's still requires a little more technical knowledge than say the average drag/drop or Excel user might understand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data mining

Step Up Your Data Viz Game with Tableau

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau makes your data analytics BEAUTIFUL. Whether you work in operations, finance, business, or another department, if your organization buys into Tableau the results can be fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
The hardest part of Tableau - like with any other rollout of a new software to a company - is user adoption. Tableau offers many resources to get staff trained in Tableau, but ultimately there will need to be early adopters in your organization who embrace a culture of beautiful data analytics. Also the differences between Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop can be difficult to work through if you have both users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We primarily used Tableau to take our data visualizations using data from large administrative data sets to the next level.

Easy to create data source

  • April 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ease of using TAbleau and the quick, accurate data that it provides.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because of internal security there are more steps to download the workbook yielding more time consuming to get the reports needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau allows me to give my customers accurate student data that is easy to interpret. This benefit allows customers to see the value in the program that I offer.

Great Visualization Tool

  • April 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use interface and has great reporting features, great for big data as well. Even if you do need strong analytics, it has very useful partnerships and integration with other software packages.
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't very strong in its analytics, named for predictive analysis, however for basic functions it does a great job, far better option than Excel if you're going to be dealing with lots of data, especially if that data is from different sources as it can run joins across tables.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Tableau for reporting views of candidates for various job positions we have open. The self-service aspect is great as users can adjust the view to their needs. And creating the visualizations themselves is very easy to do and much more efficient visually appealing than Excel most of the time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is great for creating reports of existing data if you are not in need of strong analytics, especially for predictive analysis. However if you have that data available, it will be excellent in visualizing it
