What do you like best about the product?

On our side, managing 3 clusters + some dev & test instances is difficult. We love how redgate is easy to read, alerts & overview brings already a lot of informations and in efficient real time.
The notification by mail is also a good point as we don't have to connect everytime with it.

As well, the query viewer and the statistics of SQL queries are very useful and helped us many times during troubleshooting.
To end it, we obviously like the link with Active Directory to bring some access via SSO to our users.

What do you dislike about the product?

It is somtimes complex when you dig into alerts details and it takes a little bit of time to understand everything.
The GUI can get very filled with a lot (or too much) details.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Huge queues to our SQL Tempdb happens often. With Redgate, we are able to give the developpers queries that causes these queues.
Also, we encounters a lot of lock and deadlocks that are well explained in RedGate Monitor.

Some indexes are also suggested via the RedGate intelligence and that makes us review the way some databases tables are made. Even if often, the AI doesn't give the best indexes, it can help us troubleshoot and increase our schemas.

What do you like best about the product?

Clear and fast access to all of the information I need about the SQL instances that I manage. Very easy to use user interface, with a very easy setup for integrating it with your SQL infrastructure. It provides all information in real time, and the support has been very helpful in providing us with assistance about the setup.

What do you dislike about the product?

The pricing is quite elevated and I find it difficult to perpetually pay for newer versions of the software.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is especially helping me correctly monitor SQL infrastructure and provides me with useful recommendations about the daily transactions.

It is very related to SQL server technologies and ensure deep investigate and accurate dignosis

sometimes it leads to bad performance on the heavy transaction databases

It allows us to monitor all of our SQL servers in one location that’s easy to read and understand. Its alerting notifications have also become quite robust, especially with the recent updates.

What do you dislike about the product?

The ability to monitor our Oracle databases still leaves something to be desired, so for now we’re continuing to rely on Oracle’s OEM.

It helps us proactively monitor our database servers for problems, so we can stay ahead of potential issues before they escalate.

It’s easy to visualize issues related to SQL.

Alerting options and scheduled reporting about issues could be improved

It helps us monitor and improve performance, and handle maintenance for a business-critical part of our service.

What do you like best about the product?

Redgate Monitor provides a quick and easy snapshot across all of our database servers of what is happening in real time. It is a nice tool to have when things are slow or not working. It's also nice that we can go back in time to review things when the report is from something that happened earlier in the day.

What do you dislike about the product?

Sometimes it can feel a little clunky or tricky to find exactly what you are looking for, but that goes away with experience.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest is when we have blockers or slowness in the databases. But also helping us create a bounty board of slow queries or those that often cause blocking.

I like the activity graphs which show SQL server activity via several measurements

I don't have any dislikes for Redgate Monitor

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

When the server is under heavy load, I can go back and see what was taxing the server at that time

Once up and running, the user experience and performance is good. It does what you want it to do.

What do you dislike about the product?

There are a handful of real issues with this tool. 1. it is too pricey - we dont like the limited # of DBs we can monitor. It should be 10x, at least, the # of DBs you can monitor for the same price. 2. there is alot of overalp with what we already get in terms of monitoring with Azure SQL Server, which is also integrated better into our PaaS. 3. we have to maintain a full, costly VM(s) to run this tool. this is pretty much a deal breaker. SQL Monitor should be a subscription that we just connect to our Azure environment and it does it's magic, integrating with our cloud vendor, helping meet our SOC2 requirements, and we dont have to worry about infrastructure. Running VMs causes all sorts of additional costs and red flags with our certifications. Not to mention, a subscription to a SQL Monitor service just makes way more sense for us that having to maintain all the infrastructure behind it. 4. our salesperson said that we would be able to connect additional DBs beyond the limit, but that turned out not to be the case. So that support was frustrating. 5. we have not used the AI / intelligence.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

currently, we have stopped using this tool because of the reasons just mentioned. the cost is too high - both for the tool (overlapping with Azure) as well as the backend infrastructure and maintenance and added certification items we have to tend to in order to be compliant with these requirements. We avoid that by just staying in PaaS.

What do you like best about the product?

UI is friendly and easy to navigate from administration perspective. The tool integrates easily with various database technologies, we have used with Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Virtual Machine and On Premises SQL Server.

From performance perspective, there is low latency in viewing metrics and dashboard. The data fetch is seamless and accurate.

One of the best features is onboarding new databases with instant access to OS, DB and replica data, keeps management straight forward and relatively easy.

What do you dislike about the product?

Not many, but to mention some, the alerting feature can be improved. For example, report feature to find trends of past alerts.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Database monitoring via Redgate Monitor has been instrumental for both Proactive and Reactive monitoring. We use it all the time to spot performance problems, disk space usages, backup reports, upgrade report and so on.

It is a comprehensive solution for DBA team.

What do you like best about the product?

You can have a quick overview of your sql fleet in a single page and understand in few seconds if there are issues

What do you dislike about the product?

Not having a native Redgate Monitor Mobile app to access it
