Powerful Cloud Security with Centralized Policy Management in Zscaler Internet Access

  • March 27, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best things about Zscaler Internet Access is its strong cloud-based security architecture. It provides real-time protection against web threats, malware, and unauthorized access, which significantly improves overall security posture without relying on traditional on-premise firewalls.Another key advantage is its centralized policy management. Administrators can control and enforce security policies across all users and locations from a single dashboard, making it highly effective for remote and hybrid work environments.I also appreciate the granular URL filtering and access control, which allows organizations to block or allow traffic based on domains, URLs, or IPs. This helps maintain compliance and prevents risky browsing behavior. Finally, features like SSL inspection, DLP (Data Loss Prevention), and bandwidth control provide deep visibility into traffic and help prevent data leaks, making it a complete secure web gateway solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the main drawbacks of Zscaler Internet Access is performance and latency issues. Since all traffic is routed through Zscaler’s cloud, users sometimes experience slower internet speeds and delays, especially during peak hours or in certain regions.
I also find that troubleshooting can be difficult. Logs and visibility are sometimes limited, making it harder to quickly identify and resolve issues when something breaks.
Additionally, Zscaler can feel overly restrictive at times. Its aggressive security policies may block legitimate websites or applications, requiring frequent manual adjustments and exceptions.
concern is cost. Zscaler is considered a premium solution, and licensing—especially for advanced features—can be expensive compared to traditional firewalls or alternative solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) primarily solves the limitations of traditional firewall-based security, which struggle to protect modern, cloud-driven environments. Legacy setups often fail to detect advanced threats, lack visibility into encrypted traffic, and create performance bottlenecks due to backhauling traffic through data centers.
One major problem it addresses is cybersecurity threats like malware, ransomware, and phishing. ZIA inspects all internet traffic (including SSL/TLS encrypted traffic) in real time.
Benefit: Users get secure and seamless connectivity without performance degradation from VPN backhauling.
ZIA also solves the problem of poor visibility and control over user activity and cloud applications. It provides centralized policy enforcement and granular controls over web traffic and SaaS usage.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Zscaler Internet Access is its cloud-native security model and strong zero-trust architecture. It provides secure web access without relying heavily on traditional VPN infrastructure. Features like URL filtering, SSL inspection, advanced threat protection, and granular policy control are very effective.
The centralized admin console gives good visibility into user traffic and helps enforce consistent security policies across remote and on-prem users. It also scales well and reduces the dependency on legacy firewall hardware.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area for improvement would be the initial setup and policy configuration, which can be complex for new administrators. The interface is powerful but may require some learning time to fully utilize all features.
In certain scenarios, there can be minor latency depending on user location and traffic routing. However, these are manageable and do not significantly impact overall security and performance
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zscaler Internet Access solves the challenge of securing internet traffic without relying on traditional perimeter-based security or legacy VPN infrastructure. It helps enforce zero-trust access by inspecting and controlling user traffic regardless of location.
This benefits us by improving visibility, reducing security risks from web-based threats, and providing consistent policy enforcement for remote and on-prem users. It also simplifies security management through centralized control and reduces dependency on on-prem firewall hardware.

Easy-to-Use GUI with Strong Endpoint Security and Browser Sandbox

  • January 14, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The GUI is quite good and easy to use. It also helps with endpoint security, and the browser sandbox is useful for data loss prevention. The manual and OEM support were good as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Implementation has some hassle at the initial stage and requires a lot of troubleshooting. There’s also a fair amount of work needed on the server side, including opening multiple ports and whitelisting URLs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An end user was able to paste company data directly into the browser, and we didn’t have visibility into who did it. It would also help to have an option to disable clipboard access from the host to the browser.

Excellent Security Solution for Upgrading Protection

  • December 11, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Comprehensive Security Everywhere Zscaler decouples security from the physical office. Whether a user is at the headquarters, at a coffee shop, or working from home, they get the same level of protection. It eliminates the need for VPNs just to browse the internet securely.

2. Zero Infrastructure Maintenance (SaaS) Since ZIA is 100% cloud-based, there is no hardware to buy, patch, or upgrade. You don't need to manage physical firewall boxes at every branch office.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. High Cost Zscaler is a premium product. It is generally more expensive than traditional firewall solutions or basic web filters. The licensing model is per-user, which can get costly for large organizations with many features enabled.

2. Complex Deployment While you don't manage hardware, configuring the policies in the cloud can be complex. Setting up SSL inspection properly is difficult because it requires installing certificates on all devices; otherwise, it breaks many applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The "Backhauling" Problem
The Problem: In traditional networks, traffic from remote users or branch offices is routed back to the corporate headquarters (via MPLS or VPN) to be scanned by a central firewall before going out to the internet. This is called "hair-pinning" or "backhauling." It causes high latency (slowness) and requires expensive bandwidth at the HQ.
