JumpCloud Cloud Directory - Business Review

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud allows our business to manage Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. On top of that, it was flexible enough to allow us to integrate SSOs and policy groups, both of which were essential for our company. We were able to integrate both Google Workspace and Microsoft Active Directory into JumpCloud as well. I really like the fact that this is a cloud based solution so our IT team can dedicate resources elsewhere instead of to maintenance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally, JumpCloud servers go down during business hours, leaving our company stuck with the configurations we have. While this does not happen often, it can be detrimental to business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud helps solve the issue of having devices that run different types of OS. We can seamlessly manage any OS and implement directory access for Windows machines. We utilize SSO, policy groups, device groups, OS commands, and more. These, in conjunction, allow for smooth operation of business. Whenever a new technology is released that we want to integrate within JumpCloud, given a short amount of time usually the connection is available. We have made SSO integrations between our ERP systems, Helpdesk systems, email, phone systems, and more. JumpCloud solves these issues by not discriminating based on OS types. This allows anyone of any device OS to receive the same benefits.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider all the integrations you have and will need in the future. JumpCloud supports all kinds of integrations from SSO, Active Directory, and device and policy management. This is a cloud directory system and will not require any kind of hardware setup other than installs on user machines.

JumpCloud DaaS for the future

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud is a great product because it allows me to have a good amount of administrative control over our widely distributed workforce. There is nothing else quite like it that we could find.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been a small number of outages recently. However, JumpCloud management has jumped right on the issue and is working to eliminate that downside.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main issue we wanted to resolve was the ownership of our hardware in the field, JumpCloud allows us to secure the device remotely, should the need arise. It also allows us to move users quickly between machines in remote locations.

JumpCloud makes it possible for mixed OS environments to work together seamlessly

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The onboarding process was straightforward. The JumpCloud interface is intuitive. I assumed that the disruption to our employees during the initial rollout would be high, but it has pretty much been a non-issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are looking forward to additional functionality on the remote monitoring and management side, namely remote desktop ability for all computers. This is an essential solution for supporting our employees from an IT standpoint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As our company was growing, we were looking for a solution that would allow us to offer choice to our employees (Windows, Mac, Linux) without sacrificing security and oversight. Jumpcloud allowed us to bring Macs into the company and still behave as a good corporate citizen.

Best IdP, MDM - Not so much...

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The SSO / IdP / directory features are very useful and is what we needed to move forward with some security protocols regarding authentication.
What do you dislike about the product?
The MDM part of JumpCloud needs some work. It's better than nothing, but it lacks severe features that every other MDM has. It should not be sold as an MDM.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Directory and authentication services are now dialed in!

great product, but not for everyone

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how fast you can synchronize your users and their rights across all of your platforms and devices
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall, I like it, but I noticed that sometimes it struggles to search devices by their names. Also, when installing it on a Linux device, be careful because it has a policy that disables ssh access (it checks "Enable Public Key Authentication," and you can't connect to a Linux machine via ssh before you disable this). Still, at this point, you have already lost access to the machine and can't synchronize new policies, so be careful if you have only ssh access to your device. At least it was my experience
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main benefit is synchronizing all your company users across your platforms. For example, if you have G Suite, you can synchronize users from there to azure, Jira, windows/Linux/macOS devices, and it saves so much time.

Jumpcloud, LDAP like it should

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Jumpcloud to manage both users on a large scale, so the ease of use has to be one of the most outstanding features. Super easy to add new groups, add people to those groups, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
You need to log in separately as a regular user and an admin. It's understandable why this is required, but a hassle nonetheless.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the problem of having many credentials for many services. Alongside helping developers/ops people log into systems more easily without needing to set up passwords on individual systems.
