SAS Viya Platform offers no-code and low-code options, which allows beginner or fresher employees to use it efficiently. SAS Viya Platform's visualization and AI technologies are excellent.

Compared to other SAS software, SAS Viya Platform has the option of click and run and click and select functionality that works as low-code. I can also create flows that require very little code or no code, which helps my team perform tasks very quickly and saves time.

AI suggestions are particularly valuable because when I get stuck in difficult situations, the AI suggestions help me clear the work. Data visualization is also very useful, and I appreciate the graphical presentation and the interactive capabilities I can create.

Our main use case for SAS Viya Platform during that time was to analyze the health and records of people based in Canada. We were conducting analysis based upon that data. We tried to find out who were the people who were struggling, who had health issues, and who had the highest chance of complications and death due to health issues. We were trying to do prediction or predictive analytics using those health numbers.

The way I set up the predictive analytics using SAS Viya Platform involved using data called health data. We obtained it from the sample data from inside SAS analytics and we then, first of all, cleaned up the data. Then we used a pipeline. We then added in some predictions in there, some decision tree analysis, then we tried to do some more concepts such as finding out what was the best form of the prediction. We used those answers to figure out which one had more accuracy or not.

In my experience, the best feature of SAS Viya Platform is that it is very quick in doing the analysis. It does the job very quickly and very well without any issues. I was able to do multiple analyses at the same time. It was pretty easy to document what the analysis was being done. The difficulty level was not too easy but also not too difficult, so it was in the middle ground for any person to learn analytics.

The speed and documentation of SAS Viya Platform helped me in my coursework because we were having very intense analyses done and we needed to submit a lot of assignments and analyses as quickly as possible. SAS Viya Platform was able to do that. I did not do much collaboration, so I cannot speak to how that would work. Perhaps that is something we can look into.

SAS Viya Platform has a bit of a learning curve. It was not easy to start with. There was a lot of different information, a lot of different courses, a lot of different learning materials, and many different places to find information. It was very difficult to begin with. Initially, it needed a lot of support from my teachers and instructors to help me and guide me through this entire experience. I thought it was a bit of a letdown. SAS Viya Platform is not something that anybody can start learning from zero. They need to work through a learning curve.

I think it is very important for us to understand how SAS Viya Platform can be improved. The learning materials are very scattered. There are a lot of different learning materials that are very different and jumbled up. It was not easy to follow along. There was a lot of different information. I understand that analytics is a very detailed and deep industry to work into, but I think the platform should be something more easy and more understandable.

I would recommend improving the support resources related to SAS Viya Platform.

Before using SAS Viya Platform, my only solution was using Excel or some basic AI materials, but Excel would be the one that I would use for large numbers. It would not be the best solution, but SAS Viya Platform was able to do a better solution with large numbers.

I cannot speak to return on investment related to SAS Viya Platform because I was using it for free. However, the relevant metrics definitely show time saved because it is able to crunch 50 to 60,000 rows of numbers in a matter of five to ten minutes, which is a huge improvement.

We did not have to pay anything because this was part of the learning experience. I know that is quite good. When I compared SAS Viya Platform to Excel, I noticed that one hundred percent of what SAS Viya Platform can do, Excel cannot do. Excel could not do all of those predictive analytics. Excel was just a basic initial understanding and SAS Viya Platform was able to do all of those very well.

The learning curve was not easy, and the software is not something you can learn from zero without support and guidance. My main use case for SAS Viya Platform is developing codes using SAS Studio, scheduling the codes using SAS Environment Manager, and creating dashboards or reports using SAS Visual Analytics within SAS Viya Platform in a SAS Drive itself.

In that instance, I utilized Visual Analytics for trend analytics to create line charts, bar charts, and highlight key points. My main use case for SAS Viya Platform is focused on developing codes, which is very easy, and running the code is also straightforward with just a click of the run button.

The best features that SAS Viya Platform offers to me are the capabilities for writing code and designing flows in SAS Studio, as well as creating insightful dashboards in SAS Visual Analytics. The drag-and-drop feature is particularly useful since I can create more insightful dashboards just by clicking on the charts, which I find very interesting.

SAS Viya Platform has positively impacted my organization by saving time compared to when we were using SAS 9.4. Previously, with SAS 9.4, we were able to work on only one project at a time, which means if we worked for one hour on one project, that was it. However, with SAS Viya Platform, we can work on two to three projects simultaneously within one hour, which is a significant improvement.

To improve SAS Viya Platform, I would say that SAS 9.4 offered multiple tools for creating programs using SAS Enterprise Guide and for creating schedulers and libraries using SAS Management Console, while everything in SAS Viya Platform is more integrated and combined.

Among the needed improvements for SAS Viya Platform, the consideration of user interface and possibly performance is essential, as it is a web-based application.

I am a user of SAS Viya Platform; the team I belong to is via analytics, and we are building for our internal service, analytics service, for our production.

Our usual use cases for SAS Viya Platform involve ordinary dashboards, presenting tasks, production figures, and a lot of production figures, flow rates and so on, and we also integrate short-time forecasting using the built-in functions in the dashboards.

We mostly use it for tables, charts, some forecasting, and as a data export function, allowing us to download data sets through SAS Viya Platform. Additionally, we use it for production planning, creating a custom-built application so that management can see dashboards with production planning overviews for various functions in our organization.

Since starting to work with SAS Viya Platform, the positive impact we have seen includes improvements in distributing data sets for better analytics and machine learning. The main benefit of using SAS is that we have one truth for analytics; we extract data from our handling system consistently, which leads to uniform results across different analyses. Before using SAS, various analysts provided different results on the same data, but now we have one truth which I believe is the main contribution along with an increase in the speed of feedback from our processes.

The features of SAS Viya Platform that I have found most valuable include its stability, reliability, and speed; it is a stable platform. The functionality is quite fragmented depending on what you have bought during setup, and the version we currently have is 3.5, but we are migrating to 4.0, I think. I believe the stability is crucial because if something goes down, the organization starts calling, so it is important that it is up and running, and I think the stability and speed are good from that perspective, even if it is a bit old.

I think SAS Viya Platform could be improved as it is a little bit limited; for instance, you have to purchase specific features such as charts and quality control, so it is not a full analytics product. You have to buy separate parts and it feels fragmented. In comparison, other packages I have used are more complete and less divided; SAS is quite divided, particularly with quality control, which used to be included, but now requires separate packages for control charts and so on.

Based on our interaction with technical support, I evaluate their services as professional and responsive; we have received help whenever we have asked, and their response time is quite fast. Currently, I have no problems, but while migrating, they are assisting us to ease the process.

One of the specific examples of how I use SAS Viya Platform for risk adjustment analytics in healthcare is to determine the population of members that are more likely to not get an annual visit with their primary care physician. That is one of the use cases and how we follow up with them. This is also used in a predictive analytics sense where we need to provide and generate a list of members for whom we have to chase and get an EMR or a chart. So mostly in the predictive analytics area.

The best features that SAS Viya Platform offers are the easy visualization of the results, which stands out for me, and also the ease of using the AI agents to describe the problem and come up with the solution.

For example, one aspect of the visualization is how by looking at the graphs, you can determine which area, such as the plan area in the healthcare insurance field, we need to focus on and where we are falling short. It is easily visualized, mostly for the marketing team in the provider area that needs to concentrate there.

SAS Viya Platform has positively impacted my organization. Previously, the team had SAS developers and the data was fed into a different visualization tool such as Tableau or Power BI. This eliminates the need for that.

Eliminating the need for separate visualization tools has greatly affected my team's workflow because it is just one integrated tool, one integrated platform. You do not have to worry about the connections to Tableau, generating the output, and if there is an issue with a live connection on Tableau, then the visualization does not show up, and that is the end of it. We would need to wait for a resolution from another team, and this eliminates the need for that.

I cannot think of any improvements for SAS Viya Platform from the top of my head, although users might have suggestions.

I would add that some users need more training in SAS and SAS Viya Platform. An AI assist, such as a live assist, would be helpful for them.
