What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and information which can be saved.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing exactly. But I feel all is very good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gud info can be saved and retrieved easily. Like vlan, subnet location, type etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Yes, Go for it it will resolve you problems regarding IP subnet information for your entire organization
Proactive Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
The simple GUI where everything related to CPU, Disk Space, RAM is displayed in the single page with proper visualization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unable to integrate the different platforms for monitoring one technology/application
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been using this for more than 5 years, the first email we receive before an adverse event in any servers is from Solar Winds monitoring only. We were able to analyze different scenarios with the level of detailed analysis provided by Solarwinds. Solarwinds is our primary monitoring tool.
SolarWinds IP Address Manager is a valuable tool for any IT Toolbox
What do you like best about the product?
The SolarWinds IP Address Manager makes it so easy to track what static IP addresses have been assigned to what devices and even what ranges of address are reserved for specific types of devices. It makes organizing my network so much easier since I can properly document my entire IP address map.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the SolarWinds IP Address Manager showed the MAC addresses of the devices it finds on the scans. Otherwise, I'm very happy with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was looking for a good way to track my reserved IP addresses and ranges and the current devices that are assigned in those addresses and ranges. SolarWinds IP Address Manager solved that problem for me unlike anything else I have been able to find.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend the SolarWinds IP Address Manager to every IT person that manages a network of devices. It is a valuable tool to document and manage your IP network addressing.
In Depth Network Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting
What do you like best about the product?
A few great things about NPM - NetPath, Network Insight for Cisco, F5, Palo Alto, Dynamic Maps, Layer 2 and Layer 3 topology discovery..
NetPath is a great hop by hop analysis tool and very useful for troubleshooting network delays, configuration issues, packet drops along the path taken to reach a particular service being served at a TCP port level.
Network InSights for various devices are adding more value - eg. Cisco ASA HA topology, Cisco stackable switches, Site-to-Site VPN's, F5 load balancing.
Dynamic Maps 2.0 are much better than the erstwhile Network Atlas.

It's not actually a dislike but more of customization flexibility - ability to chose colors, fonts etc on Dashboards, Maps etc.
Need of a common discovery engine across all Orion modules. (This pertains to other modules under Orion like IPAM, UDT, NCM and NTA)
SolarWinds can help by increasing and creating more ready to pick widgets that can be just a drag and drop to dashboards.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to identify hardware issues like power supply failures, cooling issues etc has reduced hardware replacement times.
Performance monitoring metrices have been configured to proactively trigger alerts of different types - email alerts, SMS alerts, Slack messages. This helps with preventing issues from occuring.
Dashboards for various teams have helped with monitoring the right components. The flexibility to include charts, graphs is very useful.
Comprehensive reports of different types availability, utilization, status etc have been able to address all audit and compliance needs.
Creation of users with different roles and responsibilities make it easier to ensure that only the desired users have the rights to view components allocated to them.
NetPath has also helped with identifying bandwidth and latency issues with Service Providers - both Internet as well as Intranet (MPLS leased circuits)
Device Views give a nice visual depiction of the node under monitoring and hence eases the strain of going through logs and other data.

Consider the whole stack of Network Modules on the SolarWinds Orion platform rather than NPM as a standalone product. The other modules are real value adds to help you on the journey to Monitor, Manage and Analyze.

Very effective logging and app monitoring solution.
What do you like best about the product?
Documentation to set up loggly and plugins was pretty straight forward to create and manage. Also help desk was pretty responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost. However, the solution is very well built and the amount of features/capabilities you have with the lowest plan is worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a SaaS that provides an API to many solutions that relay on timely response and high availability. If we have an issue with our service we must identify it quickly to be addressed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you want an COTS product for logging and monitoring I high recommend Loggly.
Solarwinds IPAM for Effectively Managing Subnets on Your Network
What do you like best about the product?
A few of the best features of Solariwnds IPAM solution are;
1. You can sort the subnets in a specific hierarchy under separate folders. It provides you great convenience in managing these subnets.
2. You can understand which IP idle which IP is used in which subnet with yellow and green warnings. This gives you an important advantage over Core networks where DHCP is not used, in order to avoid an IP conflict.

What do you dislike about the product?
Solarwinds' biggest problem in general is that it is very slow. Sometimes you may have to wait 1-2 minutes before opening a new page. I think this slowness is due to the fact that it is an application running on a windows server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Solawrinds' IPAM solution to manage our core network and monitor the IPs of central servers. With IPAM, we can easily track which IPs the servers have, which subnets are available for assignment or expansion, which addresses can be deprecated or recycled. To find out if an IP is idle before, we was lookig at the ARP table on the Core switch and then ping it. We was spending lot of effort formerly for this process. But with IPAM, everything is now within our reach.

What do you like best about the product?
SolarWinds is an excellent application to supervise the network within the system as I need this type of application to control my network flaws and monitor the coverage from all charges. Thus, this application is helpful in making the ways of powerful networking across the social forums, to find the result of business growth. Its application is very simple and users like me can have this without any trouble because altogether this application is a fantastic source of learning and knowledge to promote the business on every forum.
What do you dislike about the product?
This application can slow down the system by making a rush of websites so, make sure proper ways of communication and monitoring the system then upload this software for your network. Secondly, your internet plays an important role in making this application a successful tool so, try to use the high speed of the internet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SolarWinds helps to detect the multi- clients, monitoring network within the system, and provide the way to watch deeply for any business options. Our company uses this application for better troubleshooting the net path so, this is an easy and flexible application for our system. This application is altogether a good source of communication to the internal or external system. Therefore, we can earn more earnings and more development by establishing the novel ways of communication that do its function not to discover the detail from outside but, also an insightful observation is also praiseworthy.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to do IT audit in the environment, track changes of the hardware,software etc.
Amazing product that has saved me countless hours of manual configuration
What do you like best about the product?
NCM includes baseline checks that allow me to make sure that all new switch/router configs meet at least a baseline level of security configuration. This allows me to provide just a quick baseline check to our yearly auditors instead of lines and lines of code proving we have met guidelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
Last time I tried to use the firmware upgrade feature it could not handle firmware larger than 100mb, this is almost all cisco firmware at this point, so I had to manually update. To be fair I have not tried in the latest hotfix patch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The best problem we have been able to mitigate it auditor compliance. Solarwinds has built into NCM audit checks for HIPPA,NIST, PCI, SOX and more out of the box. They also allow you to build your own compliance reports for your industry. Again, this has saved countless hours during audits.
