Used for projects, great!
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use and data is comprehensible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Simulations could be more intuitive to set up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a cheaper product than competitors.
Good experience overall.
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Ability to create a wide range of simulations for the scope of my projects within hours. Good postprocessing of results. Very good customer service and technical support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe a bit "too easy". For example, having sometimes solid results that may not be that good when in-depth analysed. The software lacks some postprocess features that may be inherited from Paraview. Difficult to defend the procedures when "old-school" clients/partners with certain knowledge in CFD review the results. I miss measuring tools for models, and features that allow to combine data related to geometries when some layers are updated in a new model.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wind engineering. From wind loads to Pedestrian Wind Comfort. I am able to perform highly demanding simulations without lossing track of project updates as changing geometry or parameters is quite easy. Accessible technical support helps avoiding bottle necks while performing complex simulations.
Perception from a beginner level engineer
What do you like best about the product?
The most valuable for me is a technical support that gives you a solid explanation in case you need a help.
What do you dislike about the product?
A smaller number of modules compared to competitors, I believe it is a question of time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How different structure and materials´ selection affect a heat distribution
SimScale: Anything, anywhere, anytime, for any duration of time. GoGet of CFD world.
What do you like best about the product?
No data loss so far. No crashes. No fatal errors. Do not have to worry about simulation stopping if I send my computer to hibernate, or if I have to restart it.
Great graphical user interface. Be it CAD editor, mesh creation, or results post-processing.
And if I have to do something more complicated, I can just export/download the results to my PC and look at them in ParaView.
CFD calculations being done in OpenFOAM (an open-source, well-known CFD software) is appreciated.
Great responsive support team. It's almost like talking directly to developers of SimScale.
I can use as many resources as I want. The only problem is when I run out of resources - because that can be costly for whoever is paying for my subscription.
I generally import CAD files in STP file format, but SimScale has a very good compatibility with a wide range of file formats.
Screenshots up to around 20M pixels (probably depends on the RAM you have available on your PC?) can be taken, and they are very lightweight - less than 1MB each.

What do you dislike about the product?
Occasional glitches with screenshot taking. Took a screenshot? Download it (and make sure it's not just an empty rectangle), because if SimScale forgets the "view" for the simulation run, it will forget all the screenshots.
Occasional glitches with CAD editing - if an operation has a problem, I cannot interrupt the operation, and I have to wait for operation to time out - which can take a while. But don't worry about it, CAD editor is being actively developed, developers are aware of the issue, so this problem will be solved. In two months™?
Periodic boundary condition can be done for translational periodicity, but not for rotational one. Very annoying! It could have reduced computational usage by a factor of 2, or 4, or 12, depending on geometry, if periodic boundary condition just worked. [I hope SimScale people are reading the review. Because I am sure that OpenFOAM has this feature, but SimScale for whatever reason does not have it, yet]
Predictions of running time and computing resource usage are unreliable. The software responsible for that probably needs to take more factors into account - even with similar geometries, meshing can take 40min for one case and 80min for another (and prediction is probably 15min? to be fair, my geometries are inordinately complex).

SimScale is predicting airflow patterns, and relationship between airflow rate and pressure drop. Which provides opportunity to swiftly try out a few dozens of prototypes without even trying to manufacture them.
Sure, once "the best" prototype(s) are selected based on SimScale modelling, they will need to be actually manufactured and tested to see whether their performance is anywhere near expected. But unless SimScale is dramatically off, it should have at least helped to pick the best out of several considered options.

Interesting results and insights
What do you like best about the product?
We can clearly see the air flow within our units, which helps with our understanding of the machine performance. We can design baffles and similar air flow redirection methods, and re-run the simulation without any costly R&D. Customer support is first class, quick to respond with helpful suggestions. It's cloud based, so no need for powerful hardware to run the simulations.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's very complex, and takes a while to get your head around (at least it did in my case).
Models have to be massively simplified to allow a simulation run which takes a fair amount of time.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have never used and CFD software, so the performance of our machines has been improved purely by experience. Now we can simulate using these tools, we can hopefully increase the performance even further.
Positive quick integration for online simulator without the need for engineering specific computer
What do you like best about the product?
Best feature is for sure the fact you can leave sims running while doing something else, be it on the computer or real life, while not taking up computational power from the PC. Also obviously being able to turn off the PC and the sims running overnight. Whenever I reached out to support the interactions were fluid, quick and quite helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The geometry UI is not the best, and even with tutorials there are a few things, especially about importing meshes, parts and files that is not intuititive. Also the fact that once you save an edited imported file, if you want to do some new changes to it you need to create a copy - it would be easier to continue editing and being able to save the same file.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thermal management, heat dissipation engineering problems. I'm doing theory validation through simulation in order to develop a working prototype.
Great for pedestrian wind comfort, with excellent support from the SimScale team
What do you like best about the product?
SimScale has significantly reduced the time it takes to run our Pedestrian Comfort simulations, and it allows me to continue to use my PC while mulitple heavy simulations are running. Also, the SimScale support team is excellent. They are generally very quick to reply, unless it's a German public holiday, and they provide easy to understand feedback. I recently had an issue that exploited a bug in the software. Within 3 days the team had identified and fixed the issue as well as run my original simulation to confirm the fix worked.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel the results visualisation could be a bit better, especially for pedestrain comfort. Being able to adjust the colour scale as well as "cut" the model to make taking pictures of different areas would be very useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CFD simulations often require a signficant amount of computing power. They can take up to a day and significantly slow down the operation of the computer they are running on. By using SimScale, we are able to get our simulations done quicker as a more powerful computer is used for the simulations, which allows us to better make and test changes to get a solution back to the client quicker. It also allows for multiple simulations to be run in tandem.
Fast simulation tool for product development
What do you like best about the product?
Simscale is an easy tool for simulation in product development. I often use it for CFD and FEM simulation in business.
The support of the team is extraordanary. Fast, competent and always available when needed.
Models for the simulation can be easy exported out of the CAD tool we are using. Modifications of the model can be done in Simscale directly and the modified model can be downloaded as well.

What do you dislike about the product?
I like the product. Nothing to complain about.

What do you dislike about the product?
Right now there is nothing I dislike. A year ago it would have been easier to give a feedback: there was no online user administration. Today we have it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly CFD. Recently more and more AM designs.
