Prompt and comprehensive tech support.

  • May 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Friendly User Interface simulator with prompt tech support.
What do you dislike about the product?
The simulation took long time to complete for brief design analysis but, understandable due to free version usage :D.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simulation intermittently failed but run okay after retry. With online simulation tools, the benefits is obvious (no high end PC/GPU required and it's free)

What do you like best about the product?
LOVE the text chat and super helpful advice especially for those just learning. They help walk you through just about any problem. No question is a bad one, and they help to make sure you understand every part of the way.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tutorial basis for Formula SAE is based on their old UI. So following along is slightly more difficult. However, I have been told this is something that will change in the near future!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SimScale is allowing my Formula SAE team to design, validate, and build an aerodynamic package through their CFD software. For our team this is crucial, as we do not have the computing power at the moment to run these time consuming simulations. SimScale's cloud-based approach allows us to run any complex simulation on an absolute potato of a computer!

A Very User Friendly FEA program

  • May 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I had a new heatsink extrusion design that I wished to prove-out in a more detailed manner than I normally do, and decided to look into doing so in FEA. Perusing the web to find programs out there that would fit the bill, I quickly came to a couple of conclusions:

1. What was out there and free to use, would have likely taken me weeks to learn.

2. What was out there for me to purchase was expensive, and still not very user friendly to come up to speed on.

3. Regardless of price, the SimScale program seemed to be the most user friendly. I could get my feet wet by using the program for free for 3000 "core hours" (Simulation duration * number of cores used), and this sounded like a really great way to get my feet wet.

I really like that there are a ton of tutorials on You Tube for this software, which was not true of any of the other competitors. That coupled with the number of "public" projects on their website, allowed me to get up and going pretty quickly. I created my design in 3D cad and imported into SimScale. It took me a few tries to finally get my simulation work properly and when I got stumped (it happened twice) I was able to ask for and receive help via online chat. I thought they were very nice in helping me out (I was after all using the software for free) and just a couple of small hints from their staff got me heading in the right direction.

After 3 to 4 two to three hour sessions I had my 1st design up and running properly. I was most appreciative of the online chat help as it allowed me to get up and running and have a very favorable experience with their tool. My next simulations will come much easier for me now that I have this 1st one under the belt.
What do you dislike about the product?
The annual subscription is about $4800 a year and that is a ton of money for a little one-man shop where FEA usage might happen just 1 or 2 times a year. I wish they had some kind of a monthly rental program or perhaps some kind of pay as you go service where you buy X number of core hours to use as this would be much for friendly for the small business user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I need to do simulations for natural and forced convection electronic product design. SimScale seems like it will do nicely for this purpose!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try! With the Community license, trying out the software in painless.

Awesome Platform

  • April 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to access CFD without the requirement of expensive computer hardware
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found anything yet in the platform that I can say I do not like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used it for small HVAC air distribution optimization projects. It is a fabulus tool for the engineering team enabling the visualization of flow patterns. Visualization of HVAC air streams and air speed for comfort purposes and minimizing the use of duct work and fan power.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it. Use the trial period to familiarize yourselves and you will be amazed by the results.

Intuitive workflow, robust default mesher and very supportive assistance

  • April 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Definitely Simscale is a walk in park compared to famous commercial CFD software. The GUI is very intuitive and the simplified workflow together with a robust default mesher and scalable computational power allow you to get results quickly.
The large amount of tutorials and public projects makes easier for you to learn about settings for different type of physics. The icing on the cake is the knowlegeable and immediately responsive assistance, who has given me help on time to get important results from my simulations.
Particularly Mehmet Özcan has even provided me solutions with a video tutorial made in the middle of a Saturday night!
Thanks a lot Mehmet and to all Simscale application engineers!
What do you dislike about the product?
The fluid material library should be expanded.
You need a good internet connection to postprogess large geometries without struggling.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Simscale mainly for conjugate heat transfer processes in battery thermal management applications.
In addition I'm carring over also gas multicomponent compressible simulations.
Main benefit are less setting parameters than commercial CFD software, a shorter workflow to hit the run buttom and get results for the next design iteration.

Simscale CFD simulation

  • April 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Simscale's CFD tool for some tasks. For the time being, I try to become proficient in CFD simulations, by doing a variety of tasks. I often get fed up with no background knowledge, but I found that Simscale's platform is very intuitive to use. In addition, there is fantastic support, among other things. via their live chat. I have been writing to Mehmet for the past few weeks and he has provided really good support, he seems incredibly competent.

So I like the good plastfrom and also the great support
What do you dislike about the product?
I am new to CFD simulations, so I often gets challenges and it is time consuming for me, but it basically has nothing to do with Simscale
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ventilation comfort in buildings
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Simscale is good and easy to use, it is quick to get started and there is really good support

High supportive staff and very high end technical guidance and very cooperative

  • April 22, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
First of all the Simscale GUI is very user friendly. Indeed the meshing part is very easy compared to remaining commercial tools like ANSYS and Starccm ++. also the meshing is very accurate and really helping to converge the simulation faster. coming to the software, it is very easy to learn and there are numerous tutorials are available in the public project library. coming to the technical assistance, the staff are highly interactive, co operative and highly informative as well. Also this saves a lot of hardware and software resources for the corresponding end engineer or customer due to its web based flexibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
there is nothing much to dislike. i am literally exploring lot of technical stuff, enhancing my technical skills as well. there is some limited access to LBM, pedestrial comfort solvers. however they are providing 3000 cpu hours for free with maximum 16 processors. indeed one can generate 25 to 30 million cells at a time for a particular project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i am solving problems related to in compressible flow, problems related to thermal analysis of data centers, species transport equations etc. since i am a free user, i am having access to 3000 cpu hours and 16 processors. so this is really helping me to overcome my computational resource issues. also interacting with the technical staff helps me to update the technical skills to the best. this makes me to solve more and more problems.
