Algolia has completely enhanced the search experience for our users.
What do you like best about the product?
Algolia was easy to integrate, and their platform makes it easy to customize the search experience based on our product and customer needs. We had originally built our own search experience but found that transitioning over to Algolia gave us the ability to constantly be delivering an excellent experience to users without needing to maintain the search technology on our own.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a business owner, I haven't run into any downsides yet but admittedly the engineers on my team would be more prepared to comment on any details of the integration or maintenance process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are allowing media buyers to discover and browse their purchase options much faster.
As a frontend dev, Algolia is an absolute delight to work with.
What do you like best about the product?
Having a predefined library of frontend components was key to choosing Algolia for our main search functionality. Having example components to work from or extend for my use was incredibly helpful for building a search interface fast. We managed to build a series of pages without Algolia... and the day before launch we decided to add instant search. We were able to integrate + launch it within a day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Keeping real time data in sync is quite difficult/expensive with Algolia as a solution. Where we have a large list of items in our Algolia, they also have data points that update in near real time. The combination of needing to update data in algolia, and constantly refresh the algolia cache in browser results in either high costs, or out of sync data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia has been fantastic for using real time fuzzy search across a broad spectrum of data. Combinging 3-4 data sets that we display as separate pages into one search result is a breeze.
Being able to take the same complex data set, and provide predefined sorting options has added a lot of functionality to our product rapidly. Without the need for backend to create custom endpoints for us.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Algolia is incredible for creating real time search interfaces, but difficult to work with real time data updates. If you're sending updates in mass, it will be difficult to keep users already browsing the site in sync.
We opted to delay some of our updates to algolia, and use web sockets to update users browsing the site just in case to combat this.

When you have special needs or very particular needs you need to adapt your product to Algolia.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improve user experience like never! Really fast for my users and easy to integrate for my developers

Don't rebuild the wheel use SaaS like this

The use case we have is a bit odd for Algolia so I keep explaining to stakeholders the design decisions we made.

To construct a set of relevant hotels for given anchor hotel or place.

I currently feel that there is no downside of using algolia as long as my data is safe.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I had a document searching functionality to be implemented in my project. I stored all the content of my document in the my local database but when it came for searching a keyword from the stored content in the database I lagged the response timing as it was not very fast. I resolved this issue when I used algolia.

I like Algolia very much, it is fantastic for our business, great search speed and ease of integration and support, a great tool that makes it one of my favorite services, its functionality and the potential it offers is so great that you will not regret use it.

I have time using Algolia and I have not had problems, it is a great tool.

Algolia is the solution, which helps us to create searches in real time, allows us to offer fast and relevant digital experiences that generate real results at the first press of the key, a very useful tool at the moment of rapidity.

What do you like best about the product?
Algolia is an extremely fast tool that can manage styles pretty well by using a scoring productive formula that's very easy to adjust. If our customers misspelled a query, it lets us handled these misspelled questions and work with HTML customer search orders by Javascript. Also, Algolia embraces web-based services, which improve the accessibility of Windows Phone devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Algolia lacks of instructional videos, something necessary as it's a bit complicated, especially with the arrangement of the records and the increase of specialized features. Also, the latest price increases have made Algolia much more costly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia is the question tool we use for our iOS software and our future web app. Algolia is used every day by every individual within our Marketing department and for each of our customers. It is especially useful for class collection and standard pagination we are using to get an instant response. This solves certain important search optimization questions that are normally addressed by complex algorithms. It makes marketing simple without design interference to adjust search terms when it's appropriate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The system from Algolia is incredibly powerful as it supplies users with immediate search engine results at break-neck levels. It's incredibly useful when information is necessary at your disposal in a high-speed setting. However, Algolia can be somewhat hard to implement and run without all the support of a third party, especially for smaller businesses or organizations without many IT assets.

What do you like best about the product?
What impressed me most is how simple it is to get up and running with Algolia. This was made easier as I was using Laravel Scout that did a lot of the integration with me.
Algolia’s interface is simple to use and the documentation is clear. They also have some super components already build for major JavaScript libraries.
And of course the speed - it’s so fast to search with!

What do you dislike about the product?
By default the JavaScript components will run a search on load, this caused every page view to hit their API. We were not aware of this behaviour and quickly hit our plan quota. It wasn’t hard to fix but did catch us out.
We had to double up our set up - once for staging and once for live. This was a little but fiddly and meant we had to be careful with any changes we made and ensure they were replicated. I do think we can store this in a configuration file and import this into various instances using their API.

It offers a powerful search with minimal set up, but can be highly configured with ease. There are many options to enhance the search and tailor it to your needs such as typo correction and custom synonyms helping drive search results in the correct direction.
The stats and analytics provide further insight into how people are using the search / your website and allow more tailoring and focus to be applied based on what users want / expect to find.
The UI demos were very helpful in testing changes to the settings quickly. We could make changes then trying them with real data directly within Algolia, no need to edit any code our end.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use their free trial to extensively test and if you have your search on every page don’t get caught by the API request that gets fired.
