What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to see when jobs are complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
No way to view version diffs between envs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have 30+ groups using Stonebranch to solve so many different kinds of issues. It runs database jobs, file transfers to and from different types of servers, SFTP transfers to various vendors, FTP file monitors, java jar programs, running Windows tasks and so much more. Every group that starts using Stonebranch really enjoys it, and they love that they can be emailed or paged when jobs fail, as well as having an easy interface to see job statuses.

From an administration standpoint I can easily see when agents are having trouble, as well as create custom reports to see any information that I want or need about the jobs running. I administer around 10,000 jobs and Stonebranch makes it easy to do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a very powerful tool that makes administration easy to use and developers can learn how to quickly implement jobs on it. It's versatile and the triggers can handle all kinds of complex scenarios. Stonebranch support responds almost instantly to questions and is amazing to work with.

Modern workflow automation software

  • March 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like all the various types of tasks that we've been able to implement within the Universal Controller software. For instance with the stored procedure tasks, we're able to code and test a stored procedure and then directly invoke that stored procedure from the Universal Controller software. For days when we're releasing code to our production environment, I also like that I can create a bundle of tasks and triggers and fully promote the entire set of them. We've built the bundle into our code promotion process, so the bundle also serves as our checkpoint of 'is this code ready for production'.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a ton of features of Universal Controller, and having said that there are quite a few potential error states that you can encounter. Some of them are fully documented, and others are lightly documented. When I search for the errors online they are often too generic, which leads me to need to open a ticket with Stonebranch support. I haven't encountered too many of these instances; but when I do, a ticket is needed and a couple hours of time go past before someone can get back to me. I have no complaints with the speed of support and their helpfulness, but if I could avoid the need to contact them in those scenarios, it would be helpful for everyone.
Outside of the above, the biggest downside of the software is that it requires and is licensed by agent/server that it is deployed on. All of the competitor software is licensed like this as well, and it's done in a way that makes sense especially for non-technical staff. So I don't see this part changing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to better visualize our workflows and understand what parts are taking the most time to complete. The software is also far less obtrusive and for the most part, gets out of the way and lets us implement the tasks like we would expect to, which quickens our time to launch.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We had an old green screen based scheduler for years, and I don't think that people realized how much it was holding us back and preventing us from being more successful. Ask the question to your developers if their workflows or automations are being held back by your current software and ask if there's a way Stonebranch can fulfill that.

What do you like best about the product?
Universal Agent and Universal Agent Controller
What do you dislike about the product?
Shell command functionality partly isn't 1:1 (for instance mkdir -p - the p switch is missing)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Filetrasfers from a to b. No Mainframe Knowledge used, get rid of Mainframe FIleTransfer Solutions at all

Extremely satisfied with the product

What do you like best about the product?
I have worked with and managed scheduling tools for many years. Among all the ones I know, Stonebranch is, without a doubt, the best, most efficient, practical, and interactive of them all. I have been working with it for over 7 years. Its web interface, currently set up under an F5 in high availability, has a sensational performance. Just like the functionality of the agents, also installed in Load Balance and set up in a cluster, are perfect resources. Currently, my maintenance days are never a headache when it comes to the automation environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, I have no complaints. All the needs I had, either Stonebranch released quickly, or they had already released and I didn't know. Recently, I needed to attach a spreadsheet to an email, and as soon as I opened a ticket commenting on this need of mine, they had already released a fix that solved this problem. Simply sensational.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Client issues with scheduling SAP Jobs, which were done manually, or through SAP's own schedule which is very efficient.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Currently, the best automation tool I know. Fully interactive web interface, easy to understand. Object-oriented design that greatly facilitates the composition of Workflows.

What do you like best about the product?
UAC is intuitive and powerful. By leveraging the metadata repository, we’ve built KPIs and dashboards that have transformed our daily SDI meetings. We can now instantly pinpoint DW refresh time (part of SLA), failed, or late jobs, making our improvement process faster and more data-driven.
What do you dislike about the product?
File Transfer task needs some improvements. Also needs some more examples in the documentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us organize automate, and schedule a wide variety of tasks. it is our enterprise scheduling tool.

Universal Automation Center has nice flexibility to cover almost all challenges out there
What do you dislike about the product?
