Good Classifiers, Room for Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
I find Cyera to be good and improving quickly, with the team rapidly deploying new features. The team is very supportive, helping us achieve the visibility and auditability we need. They feel like a partner, essentially. Additionally, the setup was very simple, probably the easiest part of the entire process. Finally, I appreciate Cyera's better out-of-the-box classifiers, which provide more accuracy compared to Microsoft's built-in ones, although they still require some tuning.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not sure this is common in Cyera specifically, but the entire DSPM product space or any DLP program, working with vast amounts of data in different locations becomes a very daunting task. I hope Cyera could provide a much clearer roadmap to go from auditability to enablement of the tool and then eventually enforcement. I think we're kind of stuck between enablement and enforcement at this point because there's a lot to take on. It's usually small teams managing this for a much larger population. Going from product installation to actual enforcement can take a long time just because of the nature of the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Cyera to fill gaps in Microsoft Purview's scope, particularly better classification and labeling. Cyera's out-of-box classifiers are more accurate, with fewer false positives than Microsoft's, and help improve visibility and auditability.

Cyera solves the problem of having limited visibility into where sensitive data exists, giving leadership a clear, straightforward view of their data as the company grows.
Fast Setup, Efficient Security Solution
What do you like best about the product?
I like that the installation of Cyera was very fast. The proof of concept we started was completed in just a few days, and we were able to see the data within three days and start working on it. Within one week, we were fully deployed and could access the information we wanted, allowing us to start resolving issues promptly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the hardest thing to understand is how to improve the system after the first integration and the creation of the rules. It's hard to understand the process of how to improve the system. First, we got an overwhelming amount of issues, and the start of the process of resolving those was very tedious and long.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cyera makes it easier to locate information, permissions, and errors, helping manage security and compliance, including EU regulations. It's our main DLP system.
Data discovery has accelerated and now drives faster classification and compliance mapping
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Cyera includes data visibility, data tagging, data classification, AI assessments, and policy governance, risk, and compliance policy.
For data classification, I import structured and unstructured data into the platform, let it run through its discovery, and then identify classification with auto-labeling, ML classifiers, as well as manual tagging that I do to identify what data is in there. The platform also runs through compliance checks automatically.
I use Cyera as an assessment tool but also resell the product.
What is most valuable?
The best features Cyera offers include agentless discovery and sampling as well as AI ML-based classifications.
I find myself relying on the sampling the most, which makes everything really fast, but also the auto-classification and ML-based functionalities. The main thing that stands out to me and my team about the features is the speed of integration and how fast it does the discovery on the data. Once it discovers the data, it also maps it back to a ton of compliance frameworks and best practices that I can use to operationalize.
Cyera has positively impacted my organization by allowing me to identify the highest risk areas but also provide better classification of data, which then leads to better data pillar maturity.
Cyera has accomplished all three outcomes: saving time, reducing risk, and improving compliance scores, as the speed at which it discovers data was significantly faster.
What needs improvement?
I think the area for improvement in Cyera is probably around integration, particularly with other platforms and third-party tools. For example, I see some integration areas with leading DLP solutions or even firewall solutions.
Cyera does a pretty good job of integrating with Microsoft MIP.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Cyera for about a year and a half.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Cyera is pretty stable, and they have been very fast with newer feature adoptions.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability is quite good since Cyera scales pretty well because it is built in the cloud.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support from Cyera is pretty good; they have been very responsive to tickets.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Previously, I used Varonis and Symantec, but they just were not accurate and they took forever. They always could not get the last fifteen to twenty percent of classification, which required a lot of manual work. Cyera has automated that process.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment with Cyera, as it has vastly improved the way I do data classification as well as identifying risks in my data.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Cyera was that the licensing initially was tricky because it is based on storage as well as user count. I use Cyera to actually identify how much storage I had.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Cyera, I did evaluate other options, including re-evaluating Varonis for their cloud and looking at Forcepoint, Symantec, McAfee, and a few other DLPs, as well as Microsoft.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate the customer support a seven on a scale of one to ten.
My advice to others looking into using Cyera is to try it out first.
I think Cyera has a great management team and a really innovative product.
I rate this review nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Effortless Data Management with Stellar Integration
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the integration of datastores in Cyera. The datastore scanning and reporting structure are very well done. I spend most of my time on the Datastore section and Data in Cyera because it provides a complete inventory of all the datastores. The initial setup of Cyera was easy because it's a completely Cloud SaaS solution, and datastore integration was smooth. I'm also grateful for the support team who help us with queries and feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think including forensic data/actual data along with sample data would be helpful. Also, having a full-fledged DLP solution could make it a more comprehensive solution.

Some of the new releases seem less polished, as I have noticed occasional minor glitches appearing after version updates. These issues often require additional follow-up or fixes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cyera addresses the fundamental issue of not knowing where sensitive data is stored and who can access it, whether in the cloud or on-premises. Without this level of visibility, it becomes challenging to properly evaluate data risks or determine which remediation steps should take priority. overall, Cyera benefits me by saving time, improving data risk visibility and enabling proactive data protection making data security more manageable and operationally efficient
Effortless Data Discovery and Seamless Cloud Integration with Cyera
What do you like best about the product?
What stands out most about Cyera is how it handles scanning within data stores. Having used several Data Discovery tools, I found that Cyera’s on-premises discovery through Connectors was particularly smooth and trouble-free. In contrast, I’ve observed that other DSPM tools often cause servers to hang when their connectors or agents initiate the discovery process. Additionally, Cyera integrates well with cloud platforms like Azure and GCP, making it effective for discovering data across these environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
At this point, there isn't much to note, as we are currently working on remediating our policies and are interested in learning more about the remediation features. I recently participated in the virtual customer connect forum, where I noticed some upcoming features that I am eager to try out. I am also hoping to see the tool offer comprehensive DLP capabilities, particularly an agent-based solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to locate the various pieces of data scattered throughout our network, which gives us excellent visibility. The ability to label data based on its content is very helpful. The pre-defined policies within Cyera are effective. The data context provided under the issues section is detailed and supports our analysis. Both the Issues tab and the Dashboard contain useful information.
