What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Created multi-tenant analytics with custom KPIs and now seek simpler natural language access
What is our primary use case?
My usual use cases for Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers include creating an analytics product suite for multiple tenant users. We had around 250 customers and we wanted to release the analytics solution with standard reports, ad hoc reporting capabilities, and GenAI capabilities using NLQ.
Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers provides the associative model, which also supports NLQ in the form of Insight Advisor, allowing customization of SQL queries and implementing a security layer using RLS and section access in Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers. This use case involves launching a set of reports to multiple users, with the major challenge being managing security, ensuring that customer A does not see data of customer B. We have used Databricks and Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers, handling data at the Databricks level with RLS and section access coding done in Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers for me is the synonym functionality they provide. For instance, if one customer refers to 'month' and another to 'month name,' both can point to the same month such as January. I can create synonyms in the Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers model to map these to a specific column in a table, enabling the model to understand queries regardless of the terminology used.
For example, if a user queries revenue for January using 'month' or 'month name', the model recognizes the reference to the same column, simplifying queries for business users who may not be familiar with technical terminology. This feature facilitates easier end-user access to data, allowing them to create their own vocabulary and synonyms, making it user-friendly for all levels of expertise in AI and NLQ capabilities.
The dashboard customization feature of Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers has helped tailor my KPIs excellently. We cater to over 250 customers, most of whom have similar KPI definitions, but some have different needs.
For example, one customer wanted to see revenue excluding discounts on the dashboard while another wanted it included. By using a KPI standard table and incorporating manual SQL to join this externally imported table into Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers, I managed to accommodate these differing KPI definitions without creating separate dashboards for each customer, achieving this with just one copy of the dashboard.
What needs improvement?
From my experience, while building dashboards is easy from a developer's perspective, improvements could be made for end users. The rising demand for AI has led to expectations of being able to ask simple text questions to get answers without navigating dashboards. Future users may prefer directly querying with natural language rather than interacting with dashboards.
Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers should further simplify features for better user-friendliness so that both developers and customers can operate effectively without dealing heavily in technicalities.
I view Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers as stable due to its ease of security implementation and database connectors, making it user-friendly for creating multiple tenants and managing access roles. However, I believe Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers needs to improve its front-end user experience to better serve business users who may find it complex compared to simpler tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers for approximately two to three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We have reached out multiple times for various issues, particularly regarding login problems with our created tenants. Occasionally we encounter memory errors or unexpected issues, which often resolve themselves unexpectedly without intervention. This inconsistency has raised concerns about support responsiveness compared to other tools.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I evaluate Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers as quite scalable. Initially, I was skeptical about handling large data sets, but over time, I realized that Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers effectively manages data with features such as caching.
Having previously worked on Microsoft Fabric and MicroStrategy, I see that while Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers can manage data well, I have concerns regarding its performance when loading large tables, as I noticed some delays which may necessitate further optimizations.
How are customer service and support?
I often communicate with Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers's technical support. Based on my experience with technical support, I would rate them a seven out of ten.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers, I have used Databricks, Databricks Genie, and Fabric Copilot for similar use cases.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup process for Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers was straightforward as it is a complete SaaS solution. I simply accessed our cloud login credentials, created multiple tenants, and managed to do so without major installations because all necessary features were already provided in the cloud environment.
What about the implementation team?
I participated in the initial setup of Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers.
What was our ROI?
The major metrics I track with Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers include multiple KPIs, especially the number of bookings and generated revenue, as these are critical for performance assessment in the event management industry.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am not very sure about the pricing of Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers as I was not involved in that.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
The decision to stop using those products and switch to Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers was not mine; it was a leadership decision. Leadership opted for Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers as it was comparatively cheaper than Microsoft and better suited to our customization requirements. Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers met the feasibility needed for a wide range of challenges we faced.
What other advice do I have?
I have not yet used the machine learning driven answer systems, but that is in plan. I have not yet utilized the real-time insights feature. Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers' visualization tools are somewhat similar to other tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and MicroStrategy, regarding visualization capabilities. However, from a developer's point of view, building dashboards in Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers is easier compared to others.
For end users, I perceive minimal differences, but I notice a qualitative difference while building from a developer standpoint. I would rate my overall experience with Qlik Cloud Analytics Featuring Answers a seven out of ten.
