Efficient Patch Management, Needs Improved Scheduling

  • April 10, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the granular way that patches can be pushed and patch lists are created with Tanium. I like how our process is set up so that almost everything is automated, which makes managing updates much more efficient. We have a patch list that is automatically created using Patch Tuesday as the foundation, and we utilize maintenance windows to push patches. This includes using a primary window for regular updates and a secondary window to push failed patches after remediation. Additionally, a lot of the setup was able to be migrated over, which was helpful for our small team of 5-6 employees.
What do you dislike about the product?
For the Deploy side, it would be great if the setup could be the same as Patch. Being able to pick, say, the first Thursday after Patch Tuesday every month without having to go in and adjust the dates monthly to match the Patch side of Tanium.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Tanium to automate patching for OS and 3rd party applications, creating patch lists automatically. It allows granular control in pushing patches and using maintenance windows for seamless deployments.

Highly Customizable to Fit Any Environment

  • April 10, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to customize to any environment and leverage the technology for all of my needs. I can create custom software packages and sensors and automate everything!
What do you dislike about the product?
Not everything is included with your license cost so if you want to unlock additional features you are always having to open the checkbook. Every module costs more money and leaves gaps in coverage if your company does not have the funding for them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility into systems as well as the ability to deploy the same package across multiple end points ensuring that our systems are all operating on the same patch level, software version, and we are remediating the vulnerabilities in our environment.

Streamlined Endpoint Management with Ease

  • April 10, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Tanium for endpoint management tasks such as patching systems, software deployment, and enforcing policies. It allows us to manage our assets more efficiently and provides the most up-to-date information from the system, which is a game changer for running quick reports on compliance and software usage. The Patch module is particularly impressive, saving over 10 hours each month by automating our patch schedule and simplifying the process of investigating and fixing deployment errors right from the console.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall, it is a streamlined package, but I feel there is a few weird quirks. Like if you want to send a software deployment out to a handful of computers and you already have the computer names, you either have to build a computer group for the one-time deployment or build a question, should be able to just have an Ad-hoc list like they do in the sensors area.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Tanium for endpoint management, patching, and software deployment. It helps us manage assets efficiently and provides up-to-date system information. The Patch module automates our patch schedule, saving us 10+ hours monthly and simplifies error investigation.

Effective Patch and Vulnerability Management at Scale and Scale That Simplifies Operations

  • April 10, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The real-time visibility and scale. Tanium allows us to quickly query and take action across thousands of endpoints without relying on slow or outdated inventory data. It also consolidates patching, vulnerability visibility, and configuration management into one platform, which simplifies operations and improves response time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform can have a learning curve, especially when first working with sensors, packages, and content customization. Some workflows also require deeper familiarity with the platform to fully optimize them. Once the environment and processes are well established, these challenges become much easier to manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tanium helps us quickly identify vulnerabilities, deploy patches, and verify remediation across our Windows and Linux servers in near real time. This reduces the time required to detect and resolve security issues, improves patch compliance, and gives our engineering teams better visibility and control over the environment.

Effortless Asset Management & Real-Time Insights

  • April 10, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like Tanium's ability to query information in real-time and analyze large sets of data. The data it collects, the visualization, and the queries you can do on it make it incredibly powerful. Also, the initial setup was really easy, just a matter of rolling out the agents, and then the information becomes queryable and usable instantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it a bit lacking in managing vulnerability management on assets that don't have the Tanium agent. In comparison to other products, scanning them without the agent might not give as detailed insights. The downside is you really need the agent on the asset to get the full value of Tanium.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Tanium for cross-platform asset identification, gaining comprehensive asset and security insights. It replaced several tools, including asset and vulnerability management ones. It excels in real-time querying and data analysis, making asset management and security oversight more powerful and integrated.

Unbeatable Endpoint Management and Live Data with Tanium

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Customization options, anything you need to do can be coordinated with Tanium.

The Live data is unbeatable we went from not knowing what devices we had in the field and whether or not those devices were patching both OS and 3rd part apps, to knowing near instantly whether or not a device had successfully installed a patch or update.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features that are a little slow to update, specifically the available policies in the Enforce module, however Tanium releases new features faster and with more reliability than any other similar product that I have worked with or researched, and they are soon releasing the ability to import custom ADMX templates into the Enforce module.

If you choose the Tanium On-prem product then you will be behind the Cloud product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility and endpoint management. Intune alone was not enough to manage our fleet, the data was stale, we could never tell if a device was even still checking in successfully, policies were slow to apply, apps were slow and if there was an error it took even more time for a technician to troubleshoot the error. Tanium resolved all those issues within the first month of use in production.

It truly is a "Single pane of glass" solution, I am able to do almost all of my work within the Tanium console. I can open Shell access live to a computer and troubleshoot, I can Screen Share/remote control with the ScreenMeet Integration from the console into an endpoint to assist a user, I can check or update the registry, manage software, processes, and services, I can build reports and act on data directly without having to move to another console. I can feed information directly back into a ServiceNow incident without having to rewrite or copy and past the info manually.

Powerful Yet Easy—Instant Reporting and Self-Service Deployment with Tanium

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tanium is super easy to use, but also very powerful. We can pull detailed reports almost instantly, and the self service software deployment is a huge hit with our users and field service team. Customer support is always quick to help in the off chance we get stuck
What do you dislike about the product?
If I had a complaint, it's that Tanium has SO many tools and modules that it's hard to know them all. Luckily, our team have each learned our favorites and help each other out when needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tanium's reporting and deployment tools have allowed us to keep a tighter rein on our various software packages and helps us keep our user base using the same version, which has led to increased user satisfaction and fewer calls to the service desk.

Tanium Delivers Real-Time Endpoint Visibility and Scalable Remediation

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tanium addresses our challenges around endpoint visibility, patch compliance, and scalable remediation by letting us deploy software, patch vulnerabilities, and take targeted actions based on real-time sensor data, with minimal manual effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some areas where Tanium could improve are complexity and overall usability, since there can be a noticeable learning curve when building custom sensors, packages, and more advanced workflows. The initial setup and ongoing maintenance also tend to require significant planning and expertise. Continued refinement of the UI and documentation would help make the platform feel more approachable and easier to adopt, especially for newer users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
What I like most about Tanium is the real-time visibility and control it gives us across our endpoints, along with how powerful and flexible the Deploy and Patch modules are. The sensor-driven targeting for packages really stands out to me because it lets us automate actions safely and precisely, rather than relying on broad, one-size-fits-all deployments.

Sufficient for Basic Tasks, Struggles with Complexity

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Tanium used to do events for us, as it was a beneficial aspect. I also find the 'deploy' feature useful since it's where we do most of our work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I struggle with imaging computers and sometimes reading failed scripts in Tanium. It doesn't give us a clear reason why a script failed. The initial setup took us a while, and we still experience growing pains.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Tanium to push software and look at event logs. It solves some scripting problems, but causes more when scripting isn't working.

Powerful Tool with Great Support, Needs Minor Tweaks

  • April 09, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Tanium for patching, gathering data at scale, as well as deploying fixes and software at scale. One of the major problems it solves is providing a single pane of glass look into our environment, offering insight across several domains from a single location. I really like the ease of use and the support behind the product. If there's an issue we cannot solve, Tanium support is there to get a Subject Matter Expert to assist. Once I completed the required training, it's pretty easy to get what I want from the tool. Overall, this is an extremely powerful tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
The discover module, at least for our setup, is not great. Since this is a client-based tool, it should be easy to know "Hey Server3 was active yesterday, but is no longer reporting today", or with the peer networking... "Hey I'm connected to the cloud but I see this other server on my block and he's not connected."
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Tanium for patching, data gathering, and deploying fixes at scale. It solves the problem of needing a single pane of glass view into multiple domains, allowing insight from one location.
