Can observe multiple information sensors and monitors outbound traffic

  • July 23, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We have a client using the Mimecast tool. We observe multiple information sensors, such as default information, mismatched data, unknown IPs, and various user activities.

They use Mimecast to monitor outbound traffic, including impersonation and mismatched data. All these activities are managed within Mimecast. Companies use Mimecast to enhance network security within their budget. For outbound communication, emails go to Mimecast, where they are scanned and delivered to the user.

What is most valuable?

We are monitoring emails that come from outside the organization. Some impersonation policies are in place, and we are tracking five different types of impersonation policies. These policies include external IP addresses, external users, reply-to mismatches, default inbound attachments, and VIP impersonation cases.

What needs improvement?

Mimecast need to ensure that the body text format is correctly handled and that images are properly embedded in the body text. Additionally, Mimecast should ensure that the system can accommodate multiple users and effectively send information to them.

For how long have I used the solution?

We are using V7.5.0 of the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

One person is using this solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy.

What other advice do I have?

I have learned various aspects related to the topic. I will monitor all types of logs, including those from Mimecast, which provides information about users’ contacts, histories, and account numbers. Although multiple policies are in place, we are currently monitoring just five specific types.

Mimecast is useful. According to the premises, Mimecast is important, but the choice of tools often depends on each company’s requirements and budget. While Mimecast is a highly effective console for email protection, companies select tools based on their own budgets and needs.

It is easy for a beginner to learn. If a person understands impersonation policies and how to apply them, the process becomes straightforward. However, if someone is unfamiliar with these policies and their monitoring, it can be challenging. However, once a person is knowledgeable about impersonation policies, the process becomes much easier.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

We have significantly improved email protection and productivity in our company

  • July 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In my opinion, what sets Mimecast Advanced Email Security apart is the comprehensive protection of emails that it offers. It integrates well with Office 365 and boosts our security while doing so without any fuss. One is the real time threat intelligence which is impressive in keeping abreast of new threats. Its spam filter works very well, cutting the number of spam emails to a great extent. This has indeed enhanced our cybersecurity since this software is easy to use and the security measures employed are very effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
A major drawback in Mimecast Advanced Email Security is that the spam filter occasionally mistakes genuine messages for spam, effectively holding the emails hostage until the problem is manually sorted out. This has affected the way we work as often there is need to check the spam folder. Also, it was no easy task to complete the configuration of the first level as compared to the second level, which was a complex affair and took considerable time of effort from our IT department.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mimecast Advanced Email Security has successfully addressed our concerns on phishing and malware, delivering an excellent solution for email security. Real time threat intelligence and spam filtering have been of great help in enhancing our cybersecurity. It also has a positive impact for our IT team because they are relieved from so many security incidents and can manage more important tasks. Further, there has been a decrease of spam and phishing attempt which has improved productivity and safer communication generally.

What do you dislike about the product?
Granular security settings can sometimes be difficult to find within the console.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company was bombarded with spam and it was taking a significant amount of time to combat with our previous tools.

Mimecast Advanced Email Security

  • June 25, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of knowing that potential and known malicious e-mails are stopped from being delivered to the end user. Easy to use and give a lot of insight into the threats that are part of your e-mail attack surface. For the most part the implementation is easy, until you need to configure specific rules and policies that are specific to an organization. We use it daily to look at the held e-mails and review what is undeliverable via the rules and policies. Easily integrates with M365.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downside is the support is a little offputting, if you are past your implementation phase. Some of the rule and policies are hard to configure through implementation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lessening the attack vector for the end user, by stopping most of the malicious e-mails that are phishing attempts.
