Great,addictive
What do you like best about the product?
The way they progress with a skill track or learning path is very systematic, right from scratch and take things gradually in a way that learning data science becomes addictive. They are very fast with respect to their updates(almost every week new courses/tracks are added).
What do you dislike about the product?
Different courses are taught by different instructors, this may result in a loss in continuity. They can perhaps have more case studies(though they have projects) to make things more engaging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped to move from Excel to something more deeper, specific for data analysis. It also helped to become focussed w.r.t the tools to be used for data analysis(choosing from many ones like SAS, SPSS,etc.)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Yes, it is good for learning data science especially those who want to learn it from a programming point of view like R & Python.
Amazing Platform, Intuitive and Effective
What do you like best about the product?
I use DataCamp everyday in order to strengthen some skills in languages I use in my educational and business atmosphere, including R And C++. I found this software extremely easy to use and unlike most, it encourages the use to continue onto the next lesson and move forward with the program. Alongside with the wonderful user interface, the actual information itself is well structured.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't find any issues other than one which doesn't hinder the capabilities, but does make it cumbersome. The mobile integration isn't the greatest, so any progress on your mobile device isn't automatically integrated with the progress on your desktop version. Needless to say the mobile app still offers amazing excerises and practice tools at the tip of your fingers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's always been a challenge for instructors to assign homework in regards to coding or computer programming classes, but with DataCamp, it allows the ability to create a course online, all managed by the instructor.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The sooner you engage yourself, the sooner you begin to learn!
DataCamp
What do you like best about the product?
DataCamp has a multitude of resources to help the beginner programmer learn data science. It's heavily focused on Python and R, but also has courses on SQL, Spreadsheets, Git, and Shell. With 287 courses currently, there is always something new to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
DataCamp is great for beginners, but might seem tedious, boring, or too easy for someone who already has a substantial programming/computer science background and is looking to enhance coding skills.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DataCamp does a great job tying the skills with real-life examples in a wide variety of fields, from medicine to police stops to voting. I have realized how prevalent data science is in today's day and age.
DataCamp is a very helpful and useful tool to increase your Python, R and SQL skills.
What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy the tracks that you sign up for and you don't need to install any software to practice your skills. I recently got my certification in the Intro to R for Data Science and it was a powerful skill that I gained to understand more about the syntax and think thoroughly when answering coding questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The wording in the scripts can be a little confusing as opposed to how it looks like in the questions section. Sometimes in the question section, it asks you some questions that we haven't covered in the learning lab at all. I think that is a good way to think and practice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most of the problems that I am solving in DataCamp is being able to read data properly and try to understand the problem that we are trying to solve before we before coding anything. The major benefit behind this is if I type a code incorrectly or if it does not answer the question specifically, I am able to learn from that error.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend DataCamp for anyone looking to pursue a career in Data Science or just looking to learn a new programming language and to understand the content behind it. Super useful and one of my favorites.
Data science lessons made easy
What do you like best about the product?
I like how DataCamp is a great tool that lets me learn more about data analytics and data science as a data analyst at my company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how DataCamp isn't free and I have to pay for courses beyond the first chapter.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The business problems I'm solving with DataCamp is primarily professional development. I have been able to do other lessons and improve my data analytics skills.
Learning and development for data science
What do you like best about the product?
I like the data camp platform because of the videos and practice problems that the courses offer. It gives you a great primer to do great work in whatever subject they are promoting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Datacamp for businesses and personal use isn't cheap and you have to use it constantly to justify the value.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The business problems I'm solving with datacamp is the need to keep my data science skills in the new. By using data camp, I'm able to continue to be marketable.
Amazing web-tool for data visualization for Beginners!
What do you like best about the product?
A free/inexpensive mode of online learning. Great, concise videos aided with parallel practice sessions. A useful hands-on tool with pre-loaded language packages. I find it very convenient to just log in and use it anywhere I like.
What do you dislike about the product?
After few practice exercises, there is a call for payments but it is not undermined by the pros we have for Datacamp. One gets whats worth with free and then with payment, one can explore more. I wish there was a student's discount or package for a year.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data dimensionality reduction approaches and data viz tutorials help me solve my exploratory data- analysis problems which are generally time-consuming. One can make publication quality graphs too using ggplot and they are particularly useful to learn when you have multiple variables. Our group benefits a lot from various tutorials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool to learn quick applications of many languages and Data Viz skills!
If you commit...
What do you like best about the product?
I think DataCamp is great. The lessons are relatively intuitive and the UI is top-notch. If you can commit to putting enough time in per day I think you'll be coding in no time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Handling errors actually works pretty well compared to some other courses I've seen but I think there's always room for improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning python bit by bit instead of jumping head first into a project.
Great way to learn R and python
What do you like best about the product?
I love the interface. It felt like you were actually coding and that made it real
What do you dislike about the product?
It was hard to devote time to it. There is an app now. But only the beginner courses I already did were on there. It is expensive but I had a discount code
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning R and python for graduate school/career
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely use! Just be motivated.
Great product, great team.
What do you like best about the product?
Great concept and product, great scope of courses. Extremely supportive team also to the smaller fish like us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would have linked my github account for networking, but I am not willing to give r/w access for no reason. Minor issue though. Hard to find anything to dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Onboarding new employees / student assistants
- opportunity to improve on advanced topics (it's hard to find courses for advanced and expert users)
- opportunity to improve on advanced topics (it's hard to find courses for advanced and expert users)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with a free trial, to see if DataCamp is for you at all. If can imagine using DataCamp... do so !
Get a subscription for 1 or 2 persons (or ask for trial of the more advanced courses) and really test these more advanced courses. It's easy to create a good beginners' course, but hard to find really helpful expert courses. Compared to openEdx or coursera it's much less of a degree / certificate kind of tool. Contact the support if you have any questions!
