Comprehensive Media Insights and Effortless Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how Meltwater offers a thorough overview of our media coverage, highlighting relevant industry topics from both news sources and social media platforms. I also find it valuable that I can quickly generate analytics whenever necessary. Furthermore, the option to integrate coverage from Presse-Monitor PMG is particularly useful, as it enables us to include print coverage from Germany.
What do you dislike about the product?
One drawback I’ve found with Meltwater is that it only includes print coverage if you connect it with PMG. Additionally, I think the social media tracking features could use some improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed a media monitoring service capable of covering the entire industry, something that simply wouldn't be feasible with an in-house team.
Robust Monitoring and AI, But Needs Better Data Analysis Tools
What do you like best about the product?
There are a lot of monitoring services now offered, and as an agency with many clients to monitor for, Meltwater offers the best balance of services and price. Their monitoring is great and media database is also very good. Sure, there are gaps, but keeping up with the quick pace of media turnover can be a challenge. In addition, their use of AI integration seems to be quick for the industry, and I appreciate that they're leaning into that section and look forward to further improvements and integrations as AI continues to progress.
What do you dislike about the product?
Beyond a bit of difficulty monitoring for TV and radio (trouble finding specific clips for TV and just overall difficulty of finding any radio), the service is great. The main thing that I would like to do with Meltwater that I can't seem to find a great solution for, at the moment, is a dashboard for clients/searches that I can share with my team. Yes, there's the analysis section, but that only serves me after a campaign has ended or is a snapshot (which I would have to pull every so often). There's so much data that comes from Meltwater but the hard part is analyzing that data into trends that really make an impact from a client perspective. That would be the next step for me and what's I'm missing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Media monitoring and serving as a journalist database. The function where I can search about who's writing about a certain topic has been very useful.
Meltwater has proven to be a valuable tool for our student-run PR firm.
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is user-friendly and provides in-depth social listening data with minimal effort. The dashboards are sleek, intuitive, and easy to navigate, and our lab has consistently been able to pull actionable insights from the platform. With access to a wide range of sources, from social media to news outlets and blogs, Meltwater makes it easy to monitor and analyze media in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Meltwater itself is a strong platform, it can be frustrating when Meta data is incomplete or inaccurate, limiting a full understanding of online conversations around certain topics. Additionally, some AI features, such as sentiment analysis, aren’t always fully reliable, so we caution students not to rely on them exclusively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater helps us monitor online conversations in real time, which allows us to better understand audiences and provide recommendations to clients.
All-in-One Platform for Content, Media, and Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
I like how it is an all in one platform. When vetting other competitors (Cision, etc.) Meltwater felt like a one stop shop for all things content, media and analytics.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been a few glitches, including content not publishing when it is supposed to and inaccurate media numbers when compared to Cision.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows our department to use one platform for a variety of needs. Previously, I had subscriptions to three different platforms for social listening, social publishing and media monitoring. In Meltwater, it is all in one.

What do you like best about the product?
I use Meltwater for its robust media and social monitoring capabilities, which significantly assist in outreach efforts. The platform is incredibly useful in identifying channels and outlets that align with the content we are developing, allowing for targeted messaging across the numerous academic fields we cater to. I particularly appreciate the AI assistant, which aids in generating search queries and crafting effective communications for the media, providing invaluable support in a diverse academic environment. Meltwater allows me to shape a nationwide outreach pool, a feature I find highly beneficial. The ability to search media outlets based on location and topic is crucial for our faculty and staff, enabling them to contribute pieces to specific outlets and engage with relevant content creators effectively. I experienced a smooth transition when adopting Meltwater, thanks in part to the multiple experts from Meltwater who were readily available for consultations through Zoom calls and emails, as well as the comprehensive introductory materials that eased the setup process. Overall, these features collectively enhance the university’s communication strategies, making Meltwater a tool I trust and would likely recommend.
What do you dislike about the product?
I lack sufficient automation with Meltwater to support my work efficiently. Given that I don't have a full-time PR staff member, I need as much assistance as possible in generating, distributing, and tracking media pieces. An increase in automation, such as auto-filling certain execution parts for specific outreaches and identifying relevant outlets and writers, would be considerably helpful.

I use Meltwater to streamline media and social monitoring, targeting appropriate channels for our content, and easily tracking media mentions, which enhances our outreach efforts.

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Meltwater is a single platform that allows for multiple functionalities, which makes it a comprehensive solution for our organization. It's highly beneficial that I don't need to learn and manage multiple platforms for different areas such as public relations and social media scheduling. Being able to send social media posts across various accounts and measure mentions of our organization all within one platform streamlines our workflow efficiently. Meltwater also provides solid support, which is reassuring when navigating its multiple features. Additionally, the ability to easily track impressions and engagement is crucial for our operations, especially considering our sponsorship commitments. Figuring out audience reach and impact on our events becomes straightforward. Using Meltwater has meant a cost-effective solution as it replaces other subscriptions like Hootsuite, saving us money and the complication of dealing with multiple platforms. Furthermore, its ease of use contributes significantly to its value, reducing the learning curve for staff and enhancing productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes encounter issues when trying to collaborate or populate hashtags with Meltwater. Not all features from platforms like Instagram and TikTok are available through Meltwater. This limitation can be challenging and I hope these functionalities will improve with technological advancements.

Powerful Media Monitoring with Effortless Setup
What do you like best about the product?
I like the media monitoring features and the daily digest emails. It's easy to set up keyword searches and run reports on media hits.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes looking for reporters covering certain beats can be a bit confusing, but practicing the search queries will likely help improve results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater helps me keep track of the media mentions earned by organization and it's faculty members. It's extremely helpful in getting alerts about news stories where a faculty member is mentioned. It's also helpful in running reports on keyword searches.
Comprehensive and Timely Coverage
What do you like best about the product?
Comprehensive and timely coverage. Few instances of superfluous items.
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficult to find realtime sources. Media/Reporter database lacking. Too many items lead to paywalled sites. Too many repeated wire stories in reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Comprehensive media monitoring on most traditional media and online sources.
Comprehensive Monitoring with a Learning Curve
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Meltwater for its robust search function, which I have come to like the most after becoming more accustomed to the system. This feature is particularly valuable as it allows me to effectively scan and monitor media coverage of the Green Climate Fund's projects and partnerships, especially at the national and regional media levels. This localized coverage is crucial for understanding the sentiment around the work in specific countries, such as Uganda, differentiating it from more generalized international coverage. I want to highlight the outstanding customer support we receive from Gwen Ang - a wonderful personality and super knowledgable and helpful to those of us still learning on the system
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't find Meltwater so intuitive if I am honest. It takes practice to become familiar with the system, but for occasional users, it is not so user-friendly. The dashboard is a bit overwhelming because there are almost too many functions. It should simply be search and analyze, and there could be a layered system with basic Meltwater functions and an additional layer for more sophisticated users. The initial setup took time, and it is still a work in progress for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Meltwater to monitor localized media coverage and understand sentiments about climate change, enhancing our media strategy and outreach at GCF.
Time-Saving Multi-Channel Scheduling at Its Best
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to schedule social and on multiple channels at the same time, saves a lot of time. Easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are frequent updates which in one way is good but it also makes you have to relearn where things are.

Being able to post across multiple platforms and channels really helps me save time.
