Powerful Analyze Tool, Needs Better Print Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
I love using Meltwater for its Analyze tool, which is incredibly helpful in monitoring and reporting media coverage. The ability to tag articles and have them automatically included in reports is fantastic. This ensures I can see real-time graphs of media focus and attention. The tool allows me to tag each article in alignment with my firm's media strategy, helping me keep track of practices, sectors, and offices that receive coverage. I particularly appreciate being able to see which articles have the most engagement and assess the performance of specific media campaigns. It also enables quick searches for media issues, even if they don't directly mention our firm, and generates reports efficiently. The comprehensive media coverage Meltwater offers is immensely valuable, and the fact that all information is readily available for searching is a significant advantage. Additionally, I find Meltwater's media coverage perspective far superior compared to what we previously used. The setup process was made seamless with the help of Meltwater's team, and the courses provided were rewarding, especially in leveraging the information through tags and the Analyze tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that sometimes articles are not picked up, which suggests the scanners might need improvement. I can add these missing articles myself via the Added Content feature, but ideally, this shouldn't be necessary. Print materials often don't make it through to the portal, despite possibly being monitored. This disconnect where print coverage is supposedly saved in Google Docs but not properly synced with the firm keywords is quite frustrating. I have encountered issues with print publications from South Africa not appearing as they should, and my attempts to rectify this have failed. Moreover, radio interviews have to be published as podcasts to be picked up, which is not always practical as not every interview is published this way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Meltwater to monitor media coverage for our law firm, analyze coverage effectiveness, and identify gaps. The Analyze tool lets me tag articles and track engagement, helping us manage campaigns effectively.

This design simplicity significantly eases our ability to adapt and integrate the software into our daily workflow. I find Meltwater exceptional for streamlining our workflows, which enhances productivity and team collaboration, as it enables centralized information access across teams. This feature is invaluable for maintaining organizational coherence. Furthermore, having access to paywalled content is a huge benefit, as it provides us with comprehensive insights into our organization's performance and the effectiveness of our media relations strategy. Meltwater's ability to track non-traditional media hits, such as Substack coverage, enables us to stay informed about various media landscapes and reach broader audiences, which is an essential aspect of our press coverage strategy. Overall, these features together offer substantial value, making the platform a pivotal tool for our operations.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are press hits that Meltwater doesn't catch which emerge through Google Alerts, indicating that the feature isn't as thorough as it could be. This gap in coverage is a significant issue for aggregating press hits. Additionally, while there is excitement for the new broadcast and radio features, Meltwater presently lacks sufficient support for diverse media content, particularly in tracking non-traditional models. This includes coverage and contacts associated with newsletters, Substack, and nonprofit newsrooms, which are currently underrepresented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Meltwater to track press coverage efficiently, streamline workflows, and centralize information across teams, enhancing our media strategy. Its intuitive UX and access to paywalled and non-traditional media greatly aid our analysis and outreach efforts.
Good platform with a lot of capabilities

There is a really a ton of functionality in the platform.

Nothing! We've been very happy with the platform.

I like that we can monitor competitor data and we also use it for press releases.

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater offers a user-friendly interface that allows us to manage various channels such as press work, social media, and monitoring simultaneously. We use Meltwater daily and are particularly impressed by the easy integration and smooth implementation. Should support be needed, the support team is always reachable – whether it's the emergency team or the personal contact person. Overall, we are completely satisfied and would choose Meltwater again at any time. The AI functions also make our workday easier and enable more efficient working.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the beginning, it is quite complicated to create your own searches, especially because of the required operators. However, Meltwater offers support from the start and sets up the searches. Additionally, there are helpful blog posts and AI-based assistance that help in creating searches on your own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the past, it was very time-consuming to manually manage all social media channels, regularly publish content, and handle community management. Today, all of this can be done with just one click, and everything remains clear. The same applies to press work: With just one click, I can send a press release to numerous journalists.

This software is highly user-friendly and offers numerous customization options, making it easier to identify areas where communications can be improved.

At times, the monitoring tool does not display all the mention results.

I find Meltwater incredibly useful for Community Management, Reporting, and Research for new clients, enhancing my understanding of conversations within the communities I work with. I particularly like the Explore tool and the AI assistant, as they offer valuable insights when searching for what brands are discussing. This feature suite makes exploring data and trends straightforward and insightful. The transition from Sprout Social to Meltwater was smooth and cost-effective, adding great value to my team. Furthermore, the initial setup was easy, facilitating a seamless adoption of the platform. These aspects collectively make Meltwater a reliable and efficient tool for my professional needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that scheduling content sometimes results in errors that are inconsistent with platform requirements. Additionally, I would like the system to be adaptable to more file types.

I appreciate the user-friendliness of Meltwater, as it facilitates our Global PR Monitoring. The service offers a good overview and transparency for our international structure and the multilingualism in our global setup. The reporting capabilities are particularly valuable as they form the basis for executive summaries. I find the newsletter creation feature very practical, as well as the tagging, which helps us structure and organize content by different countries.
What do you dislike about the product?
The newsletter templates are not always flexible enough to adapt them to the corporate design. Additionally, media coverage for China requires improvement.

Additionally, I find the initial setup to be fairly easy, greatly aided by the availability of comprehensive learning materials and monthly webinars or training sessions that enhance my understanding and usage. These features collectively support my work in social sentiment analysis and empower me to make informed decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes face issues with Meltwater crashing, which disrupts my work and requires time to reboot and recover any unsaved progress.

I use Meltwater to efficiently source journalists and track our media coverage. The software makes compiling lists in an organized and digestible manner impressively straightforward. I absolutely value the organizational features of Meltwater, which allow me to maintain a clear structure in my tasks. Additionally, the simple tab functionality enhances the user experience by making navigation seamless and intuitive. I also found the initial setup of Meltwater to be exceptionally easy, which is a huge advantage for getting started quickly without unnecessary complications.

I find pitching through Meltwater challenging as I often don't receive responses from journalists.
