    Education Management

Adjustment period needed, well worth it

  • January 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the organizational views and how user-friendly Asana is. It's easy to learn and really gets the job done.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes time and persistence to really get team members on board. It is an adjustment to a digital to-do list and it's understandable but you really need a lot of buy-in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have solved our problem of dropping projects. Even if they aren't done first-thing this doesn't let things fall through the cracks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are new to a project management platform I highly recommend it. But be aware that it will take time for teams to adjust and commit to this method.

    Research

Easy collaboration in person and remotely

  • January 30, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I love how tasks can be assigned to a specific individual with a due date, and that there are differentiated, dedicated spaces for details and notes in addition to to-do list action items.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited privacy for users without premium. Also, that tasks disappear when they are completed - sometimes it's nice to keep a backlog.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We frequently have research assistants coming in for regularly scheduled shifts, and instead of disrupting my workflow to ask for the day's tasks, they can manage their own productivity by seeing what's in store for for them for the entire week.

Asana has also become a communal note-taking space, so we use it as a living manual of how to function in our workspace answering questions like logins and password information, lists of who to contact for what, due dates for renewing certain licenses and certifications, etc. It really streamlines the transfer of knowledge between new and old staff members.

Best thing ... if you have the time.

What do you like best about the product?
You could literally run your life from Asana. Personal, work... anything. It has endless possibilities. It’s lists & capabilities are customizable and each item you add into your workflow has layers of options.
What do you dislike about the product?
I stopped using it because it was too much to keep up with. Too confusing how things connected together and how to manage it. I would add stuff to my list and not know where it was when I went to do it. I couldn’t figure out how my inbox worked or how to connect all the tasks into my inbox.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was better organized, but I don’t think I saved time. Could’ve spent more time setting up a project in Asana than I could’ve actually doing it.

Asana is user friendly and collaborative

  • January 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the collaborative aspect of Asana as a task manager. My team and I can collaborate on projects and see each other's progress. The deadlines and ability to assign tasks to my teammates keeps our projects on schedule and has definitely made our office more productive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I will loose track of tasks in Asana when I do not put a deadline on the task. This, could be avoided if I used the deadline function on all tasks but sometimes I do not need a deadline on a task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana as a way to keep our projects on track and as a way to brainstorm new projects and keep track of ideas we come up with in our meetings. It gives us a collaborative space to brainstorm and optimize our tasks and projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would consider using Asana if you are interested in collaborating more effectively with your team and prioritizing tasks. The ease of use makes it a great option for all types of teams - and for personal use!

Easy, straightforward task management

  • January 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana makes it very easy to set up tasks to share with a team, schedule on a calendar, and check off when complete. It's a simple tool with not a lot of bonus features, but it gets the job done for users who just need a nice overview of a list of tasks to be completed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The list view is not for everyone, and it lacks a lot of the more robust features of other project management tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of my clients prefers this tool over others, so I use it with his team. It's allowed me to have a clear view of what everyone's part is within the organization, and when their tasks are due, so I can plan/schedule my own work around that.

Easy to use + Clean

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how user-friendly the platform is and the features to have dependencies and templates are great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, nothing really. In terms of what could be improved, would be the archiving of projects, those tasks still come up if they were left in the project before archived.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana to manage our client projects and timelines with all the tasks that go along and come up with accounts.

Cross Functional Collaboration and Documentation

  • January 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How it can be used for different functions. Engineering needs are often at odds with other functions like Marketing, but Asana allows both teams to be in the same project management tool which is key.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is steep and there are some great features that are one price tier above ours. Unfortunately, right now there are not enough features to justify moving one more tier above what we are already paying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our whole team has really taken to Asana very quickly. Moving everyone to Asana has not been the normal case of pulling teeth and constant reminders. It has increased visibility across and the organization and we hope it will increase productivity over time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You have a lot of flexibility, but will still need to communicate clearly when different teams use Asana together. This has been key in making sure our process is clear

Simple and organized

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a great platform to streamline and simplify your workflow. From tasks, to to-do’s and project management, Asana allows you to see the bigger picture of where everything is in the pipeline, so you don’t drop the ball on anything that’s important to you and your business.
What do you dislike about the product?
After their most recent update, the navigation within the program itself can sometimes be frustrating. Sometimes I end up going in circles to get back to a certain page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I’m a project manager, so Asana is a great way to keep people on track with miscellaneous tasks. Ever since they added “timelines” in May 2018, it has only gotten more organized and easier to track the progress of things.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is better than a majority of platforms available.

Project management with Asana

  • January 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most about asana is its agile interface and the integration it can have with other tools such as instagantt, they definitely make project management something easier to follow, carry and execute, it is enough to just create the tasks, assign them to a analyst and place the main person responsible for the project as a follower, so that the latter ensures that everything is fully accomplished. Tools like asana are so powerful that they are used in the largest technology companies that exist in the world.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reality is that when talking about a tool like Asana there is little that can displease, since as mentioned, anmtes is a super complete tool in addition to powerful. If there are small details that could be improved, such as when creating a task, there should be an option that allows to place the followers of the same in all sub-tasks without having to manually add sub-task by sub-task. only one that could limit as possible improvement, of rest the tool works very well
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Basically Asana allows us to solve projects within our organization, but more in detail we can follow up on the activities carried out by each of the analysts, verify the documentation of each of these activities in the comments of the tasks, and we also validate that the established times for each one are fulfilled, additionally thanks to the integration that the asana has with the tool instagantt we can observe graphically the progress of our projects in order to give our clients better detail
Recommendations to others considering the product:
My recommendation to companies that are evaluating whether to implement asana or not, or that are looking for a tool that fails them project management is to try asana and I guarantee that they will be highly satisfied, you will see how it is streamlined and a little easier the management of the projects thanks to the friendly interface that the tool has and the amount of options it has

Everything all in one place

  • January 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can quickly and easily set a task, recurring task or add a project and then not worry about it until it comes up again on my dashboard. When I use the tags and tag colors I can quickly identify and categorize tasks and even see them on different calendars.
What do you dislike about the product?
You have to know some simple tricks to quickly and easily set up a project. The trick is that you have to put a colon (:) after a task name to make it a project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I manage all the tasks for managing 100+ client websites and social media updates single-handedly. But, I can easily add a team member and assign them tasks when I need to.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I use the color coding as well as tagging to allow me to see the tasks that I can't let slide. I recently switched to looking at tasks in the calendar format and I prefer this view.
