Workiva Streamlines SOX Control Testing With Strong Visibility and Consistency
What do you like best about the product?
Workiva has been a strong solution for our SOX program. I especially like using it as a centralized controls and risk repository, which improves visibility and consistency across processes. The ability to track SOX control testing progress in real time helps keep testing on schedule and makes coordination between teams much more efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area that could be improved is the quarterly certification process. The way certifications are distributed and completed feels cumbersome and less intuitive than it should be, which can slow down responses and increase follow‑ups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva solves the problem of fragmented SOX documentation and tracking by providing a centralized platform for risks, controls, and testing. Instead of relying on spreadsheets and emails, we can maintain a single source of truth for our controls and risk repository. This improves transparency, accountability, and consistency across teams. The ability to track SOX testing status in real time helps us stay on schedule, quickly identify bottlenecks, and better manage audit and compliance timelines.
Streamlines SEC Reporting with Seamless Integration
What do you like best about the product?
I like how Workiva's SEC reporting module allows for the timely and accurate filing of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and financials for various other annual audits. The ability to check and validate information prior to filing is valuable. I appreciate having a work document and spreadsheet working together all in one system, giving us the ability to validate and reconcile financials, and easily check figures and data validation to ensure financials foot and information is accurate.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that comes to mind is having to refresh the page when Workiva times out or doesn't allow to revert changes that have been made.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva allows timely, accurate SEC filings and validates information. Integrating documents and spreadsheets enhances data validation and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy.
Efficient Financial Reporting with Excel-Like Ease
What do you like best about the product?
I like how similar the features of Workiva are to Excel. It is very easy to learn and use day to day. The similarity reduces training time to learn the software and allows me to know where things are when I'm working in a document or spreadsheet. The initial setup was very easy; I just needed to set up with my work email and now have SSO access.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think sometimes there is a lag when working with large pieces of data or large spreadsheets
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva creates efficiencies in the financial reporting process. It's easy to learn and use daily due to its Excel-like features, which reduce training time and help me navigate documents and spreadsheets.
Powerful for Compliance, but Challenging Interface
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you have control as the user over the information contained in the filings with Workiva. It represents the development in a particular area that was previously provided by printer services. Workiva replaces that service through their reporting and compliance program.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that their editing software is proprietary, and that can be a little frustrating because there's less transferability. It's hard to understand what exactly you can do. It's pretty much an in-house tool that's been outward facing. Maybe just some refinement in that area would be helpful to make it more intuitive. Also, there's a high learning curve for Workiva.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva allows us to make timely filings, understand deadlines required by the SEC, and handle related filing and formatting matters.
Amazing Support, Critical for SEC Reporting
What do you like best about the product?
I find Workiva invaluable for SEC Reporting and SOX Compliance. It easily connects to our financial ERP, which significantly reduces the time needed to compile information for public reporting. I also love that it provides a centralized location for SOX compliance checklists, controls, etc. Workiva has an amazing support team that makes me feel like a valued customer even with such a large platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can always be more customization around the SEC Reporting side. I wish there was more ability to create reports that may cross-reference multiple data sources from Intacct. Also, the setup for SOX Compliance can be very tiresome, but that's to be expected with such a large project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva connects to our financial ERP, reducing time for public reporting and centralizing SOX compliance materials.
Easy Document Collaboration and Version Comparison in the Online Portal
What do you like best about the product?
I like the word/excel document feature within the online portal compared to other Company's versions of an excel add on. It is easy to link numbers and compare documents to prior versions. It is also easy to collaborate with team members and have multiple people edit a document at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do find it hard to apply user access changes to various folders and files in a given workspace. Sometimes I give someone access to the folder, but then i need to do the same for all sub folders and files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They’re working to make the platform even more useful by adding AI features to the tool. These additions are designed to support secure workflows and help with creating content and disclosures for SEC-related documents.
Smooth SEC Reporting with an Intuitive Workiva Interface
What do you like best about the product?
I love the user interface. Workiva is a very helpful tool for SEC reporting, making the entire process very smooth from quarter to quarter. Customer support has also been incredibly helpful when needed, always being very available.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are thousands of features available to use. It's difficult to understand what's available and which features are new and most useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company uses Workiva for SEC and FASB Reporting. Workiva benefits us by retaining our reports from quarter to quarter and easily allowing our entire team to access and update our documents simultaneously.
Powerful Cross-Document Linking, but Workiva’s AI Feels Slow to Deliver
What do you like best about the product?
Workiva is very useful to me because it can link across workbooks and documents, which is a powerful feature for maintaining consistency and supporting documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t like that Workiva’s AI capabilities and its approach to serving enterprises feel very slow and ineffective. In a world where AI functionality and productivity tools are growing rapidly, it should do more to address large enterprises’ governance issues and work to bring stronger AI products into its platform.

Workiva provides tools that help bring consistency and accuracy to reporting workflows, with features designed for linking and audit-friendly processes.

I like that Workiva helps me link data directly into reports so that it updates flow automatically and reduces the chance of human error. The initial setup of Workiva was really easy.

It does take a while to get comfortable with it.

Automated Financial Updates That Keep Footnotes Consistent and Save Time
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to automate making updates to financials once and having everything flow through in to each footnote is great. It ensures internal consistencies and save time in making updates
What do you dislike about the product?
the data table functionality is a little lacking. I wish it had better excel functionality or the ability to link to external workpapers
