Overall good software to manage digital asset in one place.
What do you like best about the product?
To me, it is easy to navigate the interface and easy to do collaborations and manage digital assets. I like the idea that the assets are stored all in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
The structure of the software is takes some times to get used to and familiarized with. The onboarding training is provided but I wish it could be more summarized in points.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
So far it works good.
Onboarding and set up is smooth for all
What do you like best about the product?
We vetted a dozen DAM options when considering the right move for our 30 years worth of digital assets. Canto stood apart because of the combination of consideration of its staff and face recognition and related industry tools being the right fit. Thus far we've been very happy with the move as onboarding and setting up our DAM has been clear and smooth. Our implementation manager is communicative and tailors support to fit our team. And the interface has a very brief learning curve to maximalize on its usefulness.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't encountered any negatives of note thus far. The biggest issue is understanding the nuances between tags and keywords. While Canto has many resources to help various industries and companies, the Canto-specific terminology baked into the DAM can be a bit hard to adapt to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto is our way of combining digital assets spread out across multiple cloud storage options and physical drives into a single, searchable warehouse. The tagging and other search features will allow us to better share content across our team and position us to better leverage photo and video assets for years to come.
User Friendly
What do you like best about the product?
We love the user friendly interface, ease of template creation and accessibility for our teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
We wish there was a way for our end users to save additional verisons of their templates as workable files. To be fair, Canto reps were clear from the jump that this wasn't a current feature and at the time we thought that would be okay with us. After a few months of use we did find ourselves wishing that sort of functionality was an aspect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto gave us the opportunity to control our assets across 15 locations and ensure that we are always in the know for any menu changes/edits. Before Canto we were physically checking in at locations to check in on marketing collateral and often finding that it had been edited, changed, printed incorrectly, etc. We would also occasionally find that menus had been changed without our knowledge, which means we have incorrect or incomplete details across our channels, which impacts guest experience. Canto has allowed all of our collateral to present more cohesively across the board with far less legwork and far fewer Dropbox/Adobe subscriptions.
Game changer!
What do you like best about the product?
facial recognition saves us so much time. And being able to search and select photos from many folders and many points in time is also way easier than it has been. I love being able to make and share collections with colleagues which really streamlines collaboration.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the integrations we thought we would have are not helpful, i.e., in Facebook you can only insert one photo in a post vs a group of photos. Same for wordpress. It's not the way we use those platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping us to have one central location for all our photos which until now have been stored in many different places. 2) Makes it so much easier to search and find the images we need. 3) makes it possible to track how images are being used 4) Facial recognition saves us hours upon hours because we can instantly find pictures of our leadership on demand.
A very robust DAM for organizing a media library.
What do you like best about the product?
I was hesitant to start using canto when I first jumped in- the dated UI doesn't instill much confidence. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Canto offers more features than it's competitors. Being able to organize assets by type, date and tags is extremely simple. Creating users, assigning access and selecting roles is a breeze. The approval tags are extremely handy for quickly locating finalized content. Being able to download multiple formats of a particular asset is something we came to rely on. You can quickly watermark items, which saved us having to open up photoshop. The versioning system saved us from multiple stupid mistakes. I love how Canto groups files automatically, saving us time. Canto is a very robust Digital Asset Management system and I would have zero problem recommending it to anyone!
What do you dislike about the product?
The main thing to dislike is that the UI feels dated or unrefined when compared to competitors. When you get past that, there is a lot to love about this platform! This is nitpicky, but I wish sharing an asset link required a few less clicks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to quickly organize approved vs unapproved assets which saves us time!
A fantastic solution to a huge problem
What do you like best about the product?
Canto is a game changer for our company - we are able to store, manage, and distribute assets to our internal team as well as outside agencies easily. The layout is intuitive and dynamic and the features have suited all of our needs. A representative helped us with implementation and it took less than a month for us to get up and running.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is quite a bit of work to tag all of the assets and sort them in a way that makes sense, but once done the assets are searchable in a variety of ways.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our assets were being stored on a variety of platforms and were not easily located. With Canto, they are all in one place.
A good option on paper but not in practice
What do you like best about the product?
It does all it says it will - catalogue, store, retrieve images
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface, complicated process to do simple things, too many buttons, poor image quality review, limitations not talked about in demo related to the number of liscenses we bought.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Storing of all our images, and allowing peope to retrieve them
Canto is easy to integrate into.
What do you like best about the product?
It is very helpful to have a library of necessary brand items, designated to your level of need.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are not many things I dislike about Canto, I am still fairly new to using the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto is allowing our organization to store newly created brand assets, and tag them appropriately.
A More Collaborative Space
What do you like best about the product?
My company recently migrated from Extensis Portfolio to Canto. Canto has offered a better collaborative space for users and clients. We have both local and remote employees, so sharing assets between team members comes easy with Canto. Sharing assets for clients to review has been simplified as well - no more hard drives or long upload and download times to file sharing platforms. As we continue to use it, I see daily users becoming more comfortable using the tool as a single source of truth and navigating the DAM platform as a self-service. As someone who is on the Administrative side of Canto, I love the reporting feature and download feature to show what assets are acually being used and engaged with.
It can be a bit daunting migrating to a new platform, but Canto's implementation team made it easy. With weekly dedicated check-ins and responsiveness to questions outside of those meetings, as well as user on-boarding, Canto's implementation team set up our DAM so we can confidently use it. Their customer support is also just as responsive and great to work with if and when needed.

What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see assets assigned to portals by asset rather than by folder. Also, the boolean search aspect doesn't work for something like project/job numbers, so I can't search two jobs at the same time and populate assets from those projects. Maybe a manual boolean search aspect would be nice in order to generate assets from two different jobs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's solving asset-sharing with third parties and clients, and internal collaboration since we have both local and remote employees.
Easy Photo & Video Management
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to sort photos & videos and include meta-data for search
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration for documents and other types of files are not as succint as video/photo.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing assets & sharing out to internal/external partners.
