Investing in tools for a scaling startup
What do you like best about the product?
I work for a startup that is leaving its scrappy phase and starting to scale. I needed something that could grow with us.
Canto is the best for file management. My company was using google drive and it was a mess. I used canto in a previous role and advocated for it and implemented it. Using custom fields to tag all of our assets makes it very easy to narrow down my search. Portals are a a key feature for us too, as we mainly share assets with our clients and vendors and need to keep them secure. We use custom statuses to lock down assets that customers share with us so they aren't shared anywhere else. Being able to crop and resize when downloading is super helpful for my team.

What do you dislike about the product?
It will take time to setup, and we are still figuring out how we want to organize our folders. Canto Assets can be in multiple folders, unlike dropbox or drive, which can take some getting used to. An integration to post to meta would be great, surprised canto is lacking that since there is one for Linkedin.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps is find and manage our assets and controlling access.
Canto is the Best We've Had!
What do you like best about the product?
Canto is our go-to webdam! We depend on it to store final files, allow downloads for printing, web, sharing with clients, and most everything. Pre-Canto we used an outdated server which was not easy to access, messy and post-COVID it would have been practically impossible to access working remotely. We're quite pleased with Canto.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing I really, really dislike about Canto is the search feature. I know we've been shown and told to use the "filters" for searching. It just does not work for me! I will enable the filters (when available), check all the boxes and run my search. Nothing. I have to get very creative with my search terms and just take twice or three times longer than I should to locate a particular file. Canto used to have a good search feature, so I'm not sure why it was even changed. Sometimes we change things for the better, when it may have been better being left alone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto solves the file access issue as well as accessing files remotely from anywhere. If we were not able to access files, we would not have a job is how it benefits us! I've never heard of any issues with the amount of file storage, but there has to be one I'm sure. For as long as we've used it, and added files, we apparently have a ton of storage space! We're currently trying to organize our Canto files to make our daily work a bit easier, such as locating files faster, etc.
A game changer for our organization
What do you like best about the product?
Canto DAM has truly been a game changer for our organization. From the moment we implemented this digital asset management system, we noticed a significant improvement in how we handle our digital assets. The AI tools are particularly impressive, streamlining our search processes and enabling us to quickly find the assets we need, The custom portals have enhanced collaboration across teams, allowing for tailored access to specific assets based on individual project needs. We also love the upload links feature, making it effortless to gather and manage incoming files from various sources. Additionally, the ability to easily assign files to folders and albums has transformed our organizational workflow. This functionality not only keeps our assets organized, but also fosters a more efficient and productive environment. I highly recommend this DAM system to any organization looking to optimize their digital assets.
What do you dislike about the product?
While we have greatly benefited from Canto DAM. One aspect we find lacking is the inability to batch edit file names. A dedicated rename function for multiple files does not currently exist, and having this feature would significantly enhance our efficiency, especially when managing large volumes of assets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto enhances our workflow by providing a streamlined process for accessing and sharing digital assets. Users can easily manage and organize their files, which helps maintain order and accessibility across the board.
Canto is easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Its very easy to use and navigate, especially for those not super comfortable with tech.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does require a lot of work on the back end i.e. need to add a lot of meta data to keep things organized. As the Canto lead for my organization, I have to go through long orientations for the people in charge of adding new assets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its a central location for all to access our assets.
Getting to Know Canto
What do you like best about the product?
What I love most about Canto is how easy it is to create portals and share content effortlessly, without losing the quality of your videos or photos.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I don't like about Canto is that it takes too long to upload a file and the excessive amount of emails they send.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing content and creating links to share it.
The Best Way To Organize and Share Media

What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have anything bad to say about Canto so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing media internally and externally.
Canto Review
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of finding images that we have uploaded.
What do you dislike about the product?
When opening another person's files, you have to click on every bubble to relink.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto solves our problem of managing all our images.
Glitchy but good organizational tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like the tagging feature and ability to share content out to clients without them having full access to our account and they can share with attendees that have been at an event.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are certainly glitches and the system can be a bit slow and rudimentary. For example within an album trying to create a new section and having the images show up in a section below but the title not appearing after several reattempts to log in. Another issue is when faced is when using the mobile upload function it takes an extensive amount of time even if you are on a strong wifi network. Sometimes it crashes and you have to start over on the upload.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto's platform has created a space for our company to focus organizing all media across all our different events which has been very helpful.
We just started using Canto at work, and I am loving it so far!
What do you like best about the product?
The comprehensive search and filter features are probably my favorite thing about Canto. It is so easy to find exactly what I'm looking for, and I haven't found this in any other asset management software so far.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Canto so far, but I have only been using it for a few short months. I am hopeful this will still be the case once I've used it for longer!
The only thing I would say is that the person who trained our team to use Canto didn't seem extremely well informed on all the features Canto had to offer. She did not have answers to a lot of our questions and just said that she would get back to us later.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We did not previously have a good system for storing and organizing photos which made searching for them that much more difficult. Canto makes it so much easier to not only keep everything in one place, but also find photos in a snap. Another issue Canto is solving for us is allowing us to have more control over which photos can be distributed for use by individuals outside of the MarCom office.
Great DAM Tool
What do you like best about the product?
It's a great DAM tool wiht alot of features that can save an organization the headache of misplacing digital assets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it has so many features it can be overwhelming and time consuming to enact proper DAM protocols. It is not the most user friendly or intuitive platform and a lot of folks in my organization prefer to ask me to to upload or organize assets instead of trying to learn it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's one place where we keep all our digital assets. Wokring in conservation you deal with a lot of contracts, images and videos, and Canto offers a place to keep track of everything and organize it.
