Best in class business intelligence tool for small to medium sized teams
What do you like best about the product?
Our organization has used a variety of business intelligence tools over the years, including Tableau, PowerBI, and most recently Looker. While all of these platforms are powerful, we often found them bloated and cumbersome to use. Looker’s LookML is excellent for data modeling, but it also locks you into the platform and centralizes modeling in a way that limits flexibility.
We use dbt for our data transformations, and Omni’s two-way integration with dbt has been a game changer. It allows us to leverage our central data model while also giving us the flexibility to do quick, ad hoc analysis directly in Omni when needed. Whether we are using our dbt models or building something fast in Omni, we can push the results back to our data warehouse with ease.
We transitioned all of our worksheets from Looker to Omni in about two months, largely because of how intuitive Omni is. The user experience draws on the best elements of other platforms. It includes Looker’s ease of drilling and exploring, Tableau’s tabbed workbook layout, and familiar Excel-like functions for non-SQL users. It covers everything we need without the extra weight of features we do not use.
Most importantly, Omni’s customer support is the best I have experienced from any vendor, not just in the business intelligence space but overall. We are in a Slack channel with their team, and their engineers and even their CEOs respond within minutes. They are hands-on, collaborative, and eager to help solve complex problems.
Omni has been a transformative partner for us. I highly recommend it to any team looking for a modern BI tool that blends power with simplicity and offers unmatched support.

What do you dislike about the product?
Omni is still a relatively new product, so there are some rough edges. I often tell my team to expect a little bit of jank here and there. But in our experience, the trade-off is well worth it. This might not be the right tool for a massive corporation that requires a perfectly polished platform with zero errors. However, if you can tolerate the occasional quirk, I highly recommend it.
We do run into small bugs from time to time, and a few expected features are still missing. For example, some visualization types and formatting options are not yet available. That said, the Omni team is incredibly responsive. They actively listen to feedback, frequently add our requests to their roadmap, and often come up with smart workarounds in the meantime. It really feels like they are building the product alongside their users.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Omni for internal business intelligence dashboards, including membership counts, revenue goals, database management, and tracking business education trends. It helps us bring all this data into one place so we can make faster, more informed decisions.
A very effective BI Tool that combines the quick ad hoc experience of excel sheets with scalable SQL
What do you like best about the product?
Hard to speak to one thing. Omni Analytics is by far the best BI tool I have used and I have used many from Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Superset, etc. The list goes on. Being able to have data modeled into topics within the Semantic Layer, have git branch like dev and prod releases, connect multiple data sources (within one connection), flexibility when working with data, separation of concerns with model layer and workbook layer, great customer support, straightforward implementation and integrations, etc
What do you dislike about the product?
Don't really have down sides. It would be nice to have a best practice guide on how to best work with the platform to scale your data and achieve optimal performance but that is more of a modeling issue than platform specific at the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplifying the process to get data in the hands of internal customers.
From the platform to the customer service, Omni has been absolutely wonderful!
What do you like best about the product?
Omni is easy to learn and use, and the documentation is very helpful! The team is constantly innovating and is so quick with new releases or updates. The customer service is exceptional and very responsive!
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features that I wish were more self-service in the UI, like more aggregation types (e.g. percentiles), and other things that you don't need to write in the model itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Omni allows us to present data in a digestible, easy to read view. The AI capabilities are also permitting us to add context to our dashboards, stronger than ever before.
Business Intelligence: Episode IV – A New Hope
What do you like best about the product?
The semantic layer approach provides consistent and reusable definitions for aggregating data. Not just within a report, across all reports. Business logic that used to be tribal knowledge buried under layers of field calculations is instead brought to light, agreed upon, version controlled, and made reusable. An opinionated BI tool that encourages best practices instead of enabling as many bad ones as possible is like a breath of fresh air.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Omni is version controlled and enables data environment switching, that functionality has not yet been extended to make the dbt integration fully git-aware. Lots of potential on their roadmap.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Version controlled semantic layer to develop unified measure and relationship definitions. dbt metadata integration. Advanced visualization options. Okta user management.
Perfect blend of light weight speed and enterprise grade features.
What do you like best about the product?
Very feature rich while maintaining a great user experience and allowing teams to move quickly and iterate. The team behind the product is equally, if not more impressive with their quick responses and helpful answers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Understandably some of the features are more natively tied to common data warehouse products (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.) whereas we use a data lake architecture for which some features like data input tables.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Omni allows us to model our data in a flexible way that meets our business's needs and to make that data available to end users in a variety of ways, meeting them where they're at.
A modern plug and play BI tool
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use with simple UI for all non-tech folks in the team. Good response of support team when needed for onboarding or other metrics. Allows seamless switch between csv type data , SQL data and or AI based data. Great for ETL process as it integrated with DBT
What do you dislike about the product?
A little difficult for non-SQL folks and prices seem a little high compared to other alternatives available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data visualization throughout different channels of data including Postgres database and Survey data collected via Tally + google sheets data collected internally.

It handles large datasets with ease, keeps data safe, and gives real-time updates with smart predictions. With great customer support, Omni Analytics is a powerful yet simple tool for any data-driven teams
What do you dislike about the product?
While Omni Analytics is a powerful platform, some users may face a few challenges. Its wide range of features can be hard to learn, especially for non-technical teams moving from simpler tools. Setting up custom workflows can take time, and pricing may be too high for small businesses needing advanced features. At busy times, support responses might be slower, and there’s room for more integrations with niche tools. Also, teams looking for just basic analytics might find the platform a bit too much, leading to many features going unuseds
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Streamlined tool that caters for data personas across the entire organisation
What do you like best about the product?
SQL Editor for Custom measures, duckDB smart cache, well thought out approach to semantic layer and source control. Easy to integrate with most modern dbs. Great support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Quite a new tool so doesn't have feature parity with some of the more established tooling - although the pace of product releases is very promising. Ultimately we decided to keep our tech-stack stable, but everyone that was part of the POC agreed although Omni was a great tool and one that we may look to come back to in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Omni is flexible enough to allow data teams to build governed data assets whilst without impeding the ability to carry out un-governed data exploration and analysis
