Centralized policy analysis has improved firewall visibility and simplifies access validation

    Reviewed on Jun 05, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

AlgoSec is used daily for firewall policy management, analyzing firewall rules, validating access requests, and identifying risky or unused policies before making changes.

AlgoSec provides centralized visibility of firewall rules and traffic flows across multiple devices. When a new access request comes in, AlgoSec is used to check the existing rule path, identify the affected firewall, validate whether the access is already allowed, and review any potential security risks before implementation and changes.

    What is most valuable?

AlgoSec has improved the firewall management process by reducing manual effort, improving visibility into security policy, and helping the team complete access validation and audit activities more efficiently.

The firewall rules analysis and application connectivity visibility features stand out the most in my experience with AlgoSec. These features help quickly identify risky rules, validate access paths, and troubleshoot connectivity issues more efficiently.

The application connectivity visibility features help trace the complete traffic path between source and destination systems across multiple firewalls during troubleshooting. I can quickly identify which firewall or rules are blocking the traffic, which reduces manual checking and speeds up issue resolution.

The centralized dashboard and policy visibility are also very useful features that make it easier to manage multiple firewalls and monitor policy changes from a single platform.

    What needs improvement?

AlgoSec can be improved in terms of UI performance, faster policy analysis in a large environment, and more flexible reporting customization. Better integration with additional third-party security tools would also enhance the overall experience.

In some complex environments, troubleshooting and report generation can take additional time, so performance optimization would help. More detailed customization options for the dashboard and reporting would also improve day-to-day usability.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using AlgoSec for around two years for firewall policy management and security analysis activities.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

AlgoSec has been stable in our environment and handles daily firewall policy analysis, visibility, and monitoring activities reliably.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

AlgoSec is scalable and works well in an enterprise environment with multiple firewalls and a complex network infrastructure. Proper resource planning and tuning are important for maintaining performance in a large deployment.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support experience has been good overall, as the support team is responsive and helpful during troubleshooting, implementation, and product-related issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, most firewall policy review and access validation were handled manually through the firewall management console and internal processes. AlgoSec was selected to gain centralized visibility, automated policy analysis, and better audit management.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Several other firewall security management solutions were evaluated, but AlgoSec was selected because of its centralized visibility, traffic flow analysis, and multi-vendor firewall support.

What other advice do I have?

AlgoSec provides strong firewall visibility, policy analysis, and operational efficiency, with some room for improvement in performance and reporting customization. I rate AlgoSec an eight out of ten overall.

AlgoSec has significantly improved firewall policy management, visibility, and troubleshooting efficiency in our environment. The rating is not higher mainly due to performance delays and limited reporting customization in a large-scale deployment.

AlgoSec provides good governance and security visibility through policy tracking, access validation, audit reporting, and centralized firewall management. These features help maintain better compliance and security control across the environment.

The output and recommendations provided by AlgoSec are generally accurate and reliable for firewall policy analysis and traffic flow visibility. However, in complex environments, manual validation is still performed before implementing critical changes.

Proper planning of the deployment, integration, and firewall workflows before implementation is recommended, as understanding policy requirements and network architecture in advance helps organizations get the maximum benefit from AlgoSec visibility and automation features.

AlgoSec has been a valuable solution for improving firewall policy management, visibility, and security operations in our environment. It has helped reduce manual effort and simplify day-to-day firewall management activities for our team.

Another feature I find valuable is the application connectivity and traffic flow visibility, which makes troubleshooting much faster. The visibility and change impact analysis stands out as particularly valuable. Being able to understand how a proposed firewall change will affect the environment before implementing it has helped reduce risk and avoid configuration mistakes.

    What needs improvement?

If I could improve anything, it would be more customizable dashboards and reporting. The current feature set is very strong and meets our needs well.

As for future enhancements, I would like to see more automation around policy optimization and more customizable reporting options. More automation and more flexible reporting would be welcome, but overall the current feature set meets our requirements well. I do not have any major feature gaps to mention at this time.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using AlgoSec for approximately one year.

What other advice do I have?

AlgoSec has helped us save time on firewall change management, troubleshooting, and compliance activities. It has improved visibility, reduced manual effort, and helped us identify potential issues before changes are implemented. Overall, we have seen faster operations and fewer configuration-related issues.

Another positive outcome has been better visibility into our security environment, which helps us identify risky, unused, or overly permissive rules before they become a problem. While I do not track exact metrics, we have definitely seen time savings, faster troubleshooting, improved change management, and fewer configuration-related issues compared to manual processes.

Troubleshooting firewall-related connectivity issues has become significantly faster based on our experience. What used to take anywhere from one to two hours of manually checking firewall rules and network paths can often be narrowed down in fifteen to thirty minutes.
