Translation Operations across platforms

  • January 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease and outreach of our translation strategy could not have been deployed without a tool like lokalise, across both web platform, website, mobile apps..
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to have a plugin for CMS platforms as we also have that in our portfolio and its our main painpoint as for now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having all teams involved in the translation progress has enabled us to establish a translation operation strategy that has boost our language outreach far beyond our expectations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are running any software platform, application in different languages, with a mid-to-large team, this product is just prefect. Even for small wording changes on the default version, it made our life easier not to rely on dev-ops for those changes.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use for both tech team and our translators.
What do you dislike about the product?
The admin section is bit confusing, it wouldn't hurt to have tooltips or more clear descriptions here.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before it was very manual to add/change translations, now it is super simple and we can easily make edits in translation without bothering our tech team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Not sure of other competitors of Lokalise out there, but we are satisfied.

Lokalise makes our life so easy

  • January 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We started using lokalise for our iOS and Android App 3 months ago, and I wish I had used it since the beginning. I have never used a software that brings so much value for the price it costs.

For instance I like the ability it provides to correct a mistake or try new texts in our iOS and Android app in seconds, without the need to submit a new version to app stores. We save time and money, we don't have to worry about leaving mistakes on our screens until the next version.

Not mentioning how easy it becomes to translate new texts with auto translation and have it validated by the reviewer of our choice.

Our translators love to work with Lokalise because it makes their job so easier. We are currently translating our app in 6 languages. We have more than 3000 keys and 60 000 words, but it keeps this task simple!
What do you dislike about the product?
-It is a bit hard a the beginning to understand how it works in apps (how lokalise strings will cohabit with local native strings inside the native app and what string is the going to be used by the app)
-I don't know how to count words in a specific language for a set of keys
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Translating our apps, and merging the similar keys form iOS and Android in common inked keys to divide the translation cost by 2.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't wait too much, the sooner you get the solution implemented the less work it takes to implement, and the sooner you gain from the benefits the solution provides. No hesitation. I recommend.

A huge help in localising our podcast app for iOS, Android, and the web!

  • December 31, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For us, Lokalise's killer feature has been the extremely flexible export API, which allows us to import exactly the translations we need into exactly the formats we need across all three platforms.

The input interface works great for collaboration too, and it's very practical for us to be able to tag specific platforms for each translation - again, it's important for us to streamline translations to keep app download sizes small and keep web app startup times fast.

Integration with Google Translate is a nice bonus for those times when we want to scramble out an early beta release without having all languages ready.

Looking at the interface overall, it's easy to see the state of each project and each language at a glance, which we have integrated into the process for our translation cycle.
What do you dislike about the product?
We previously had to maintain our own Ruby client library, which we open-sourced, but that's no longer a problem since the API and its client libraries emerged.

We've used Lokalise since it was a baby, several years now, and frankly encountered no real bugs or outages that I can recall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lokalise helps us to bring our premium-grade cross-platform podcast aggregator to millions of active monthly users. Our Android and iPhone apps support 29 languages, and we have 29 localised web subdomains for those languages too. Lokalise lets us maintain a smooth process of updating them all in one place, from app strings to catalogue strings to our mailing list and update announcements to our community.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As with any translation software, before evaluating, I'd suggest to have a good idea on your initial volume and new monthly volume in the medium term. Also consider how you will break things down into projects. All of that will be needed to estimate the cost involved.

Easy to use and very flexible

What do you like best about the product?
The SDK with OTA translations update without having to make a new app release
What do you dislike about the product?
No branch selection flexibility when connected to BitBucket
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central place for managing translations both for developers and translators. Automating translations updates in the project by connecting it to git
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very easy setup, flexible and easy to use, nice new features still coming out.

What do you like best about the product?

What do you dislike about the product?
As a client I still struggle with some stuff like branching and cross platform integration (android, ios, web)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i18n, of course. Most use cases are well covered.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Set up a simple example, then improve add features one by one (like universal placeholders, plurals, etc)

What do you like best about the product?
In the past, our company has sent a flat file to a third party company and waited for the translation to be complete. With Lokalise, i love that i have one place to manage ALL translations. It's so easy and fast, completely love using this solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like to see the export of the translations a little easier, but this could just be me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing translations for 25 languages is one place with the ability to add new strings for translation.

Great tool for agile localisation

  • December 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1) The user support is really helpfull and friendly. They are always happy to help and they answer all questions really quickly.
2) Clean UI.
3) It's possible to test some features from a different subscription plan for free.
4) It's a great tool to easily manage translations into many languages at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some technical drawbacks:
1) Unicode symbols with capital letters are not displayed as placeholders.
2)There's a visual bug of the editor which sometimes displays placeholders from right to left for RTL languages. It's quite confusing, displaying them from left to right seems to make more sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We translate our app into many languages and Lokalise really helps to manage this in the agile model.

Lokalise is really recommended, currently best in market if you need localization

  • December 18, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We were using another product. After a while, we started to look for solutions for our problems for updating text without app release. Live SDK is life saver for us, because otherwise we need to implement this feature somehow. Moreover all stockholders like easy to use user interface and other features such as integration with slack , detailed key history and attaching screenshots to keys. Customer support service is really great, we use other saas application and if we compare with them we can say lokalise customer support is really great.
What do you dislike about the product?
In our organization we have started to use lokalise with 1 project. After our experience other department (applications) started to use and at this point user limit became an issue. Number of User limits would be increase. And another issue is MAU limits of live SDK. After we started to use Live SDK feature for 1 application, we want also for other applications but because of limit of MAU. I would suggest to lokalise team to make flexible options such us we can make over-the-air feature passive/active for each applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Whole product team and agencies involve translation process and save us for unnecessary respondent work. Because of regulative laws we sometimes need to change text in application. Without need to release we can easily update text in production clients. Moreover, we were using another product but it has some limitations about ios plurals issue and we overcome this problem with lokalise.

Attach screenshots to keys is really beneficial for external translators. Because they are not present during the UI design, so they could not know keys usage purpose. So they find this feature very useful when they making translations.

With project chat we don't need any other platform such as mail, slack etc. We use project chat feature for asking any questions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While we are searching localization products, we tested most of the products in market. So I suggest to try Lokalise and other ones and you will choose right one
