Production Ready Big Data Environment
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using cloudera big data engineering for quite some time now and the way they have integrated all the different services together is flawless
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the UI becomes little slow but that is not a show stopper, its manageable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Big data solutions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Cloudera is one the top tool in the industry
Solid Hadoop Platform with Awesome Support
What do you like best about the product?
Very Stable Platform and Cloudera is very quick on adding/enhancing features and always some thing to learn, explore and apply to business needs. Customer Support is brilliant and issue resolution and RCA is very detailed. Engineering teams are more pro-active. Cloudera Data Sciense Workbenck is one tool which data scientists leverage for end-to-end analytics and DS.
What do you dislike about the product?
No mush dislikes.. Looking for tools and APIs integrate more with DW Platforms. Data Ingestion should also be made more simpler instead relying on other vendor tools. CDSW should be extended to leverage data in different data base platforms as well as hdfs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Streaming from various sources, BI Analytics, 360 degree view of customer, Quality Intelligence & Analytics, Query Federation with DW Platforms
Close to success
What do you like best about the product?
Hortonworks two main pillars are HDP (Hortonworks Data Platform) and HDP (Hortonworks Data Flow). The former applies to the infrastructure required for building and deploying a data lake, and the latter is about ingestion, in batch or realtime.
Both HDP and HDF rely entirely on opensource projects, this is a distinctive point about Hortonworks.
Both HDP and HDF rely entirely on opensource projects, this is a distinctive point about Hortonworks.
What do you dislike about the product?
As an open source project collection, it relies strongly on community activity. You still have the option to contract premium consulting or training services.
Altough it is quickly evolving into Data Science tools availability (eg. Tensorflow incorporate in HDP 3), it can be cumbersome from a developer transitioning from a traditional IDE, into the notebook vs. datalake metaphore.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Typically it is used as an enterprise platform. There are very few companies that use it only departmentally. It solved the business problems of maintaining a pure open source Hadoop environment. It also solves for Disaster Recovery and Security. Hadoop was not designed for Security, but with Hortonworks Ranger and Kerberos, you can implement a world class security framework.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Because of its open source platform. Make sure that it has the right integration into your current data field.
Cheaper storage layer & SQL ingestion with Hive and MPP engine for faster query response with Impala
What do you like best about the product?
Impala performs really well with BI Tools
What do you dislike about the product?
More improvements into Impala for long running analytics workloads
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most of our BI teams use Impala for their day-to-day operations
One of the all round big data solutions out there
What do you like best about the product?

Cloudera Navigator
What do you like best about the product?
1) It is considerably a new technology which has a lot of scope in future. 2) It is mainly used for storing big data and processing of big data - this is what I like about cloudera! Last but not the least, it's open source - you don't have to pay anything. You just have to download and start using it!
What do you dislike about the product?
To install and use cloudera Navigator, you must need a minimum of 16GB RAM and high processor in your Laptop/PC, this makes it difficult to use in normal PCs with lower configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One main business problem is big data. Companies want to store and process big data so they use cloudera navigator to store and process big data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's easy to use and it's open-source..meaning you don't have to buy. You can just download and start using it and I believe it solves your business problems!
Good experience
What do you like best about the product?
Cloudera offers a lot of interesting features. Its really user friendly and let us solve complex business issues of organizing data. Also its a very secure platform where you can integrated security features and IT governance to functions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think for small business Cloudera its little bit expensive, when you realize the value, you can see that the price covers the benefits .

Couldera Data Science a desperately needed tool from Cloudera
What do you like best about the product?
Running collaborative notebooks on you Cloudera Hadoop cluster is a big boon to a data science team. Pairs well with a previous investment in Hadoop specifically from Cloudera.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish this would install to the cluster and run in a container on the cluster instead of requiring an external application server(s). Spark support was not as good as some of the other notebook solutions out there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding how our services are behaving or misbehaving. We use this primarily for the time series events and metrics that are aggregated from our service offerings to our Hadoop based Data Lake.
One of the best available tools for Machine learning research
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use. Supports multiple languages and frameworks like R, python, scala, Apache Spark etc. It's quite easy to download libraries and supporting packages. One of the most important feature that I like is the availability of data from any storage - cloud, data warehouse
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not particularly fond of the User Interface, but that's the only bad point that I could find.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great tool to work with on projects requiring collaborations. Cloudera Data Science can be used for any machine learning problem and since these days Artificial Intelligence is being implemented everywhere, so Cloudera data science would prove to be a great tool to work on.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for something that does a quick analysis and also supports frameworks for detailed machine learning research then Cloudera Data Science is for you.
