User-Friendly and Automated Efficiency with Jamf
What do you like best about the product?
I find Jamf incredibly user-friendly, especially from the administrative side of things. It's much more approachable compared to other options like SCCM and group policy. The barrier to entry for a new CIS admin is remarkably low. I also appreciate that Jamf simplifies the initial setup process, which was much easier than anticipated and worked more or less out of the box. Additionally, Jamf effectively automates a lot of manual processes for device management, allowing us to turn manual processes into automated ones to a pretty excellent and granular degree.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the more recent features like Mac app deployment don't provide as much feedback when things go wrong, and they don't allow as accurate of scoping as things like policies and mobile configurations do. I would love to see that improve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Jamf to automate manual processes like device building and configuration, managing our endpoints efficiently. It helps transform tasks into automated actions with excellent precision.
Extensibility with Jamf Pro
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to extend Jamf Pro with EAs. We use this feature heavily to gather information that otherwise wouldn't be available. No experience with other MDM solutions, so can compare.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost of using Jamf Pro. Being forced to move to Jamf in the Cloud. While worthwhile, feeling forced. I understand the value of being the cloud and we're working to get or organization to adopt that model so that we can move forward and manage our devices at all times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping devices properly managed - patched and secure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't be afraid.
Jamf is the biggest name in MacOS management
What do you like best about the product?
asset management and management through policies are amazingly simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of patch management is a big issue. Cert based file management is nonexistent since the depreciation of JDS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to implement “choice” in the environment.
