What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a graduate student, Dropbox is my go-to for safeguarding valuable data. Its reliable cloud storage ensures my work is secure, especially crucial given the potential risks with my aging laptop. The peace of mind it provides is invaluable in preserving my academic efforts.
I like having a central place where I can access files from any device.
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use and access. I like being able to access files from multiple devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lately it doesn't seem to sync very quickly. Like if I add a file or document from my laptop, it doesn't immediately show up when I want to pull it up on my phone or my tablet. Sometimes it can take several days before I see the newer saved items anywhere but on the device I saved them on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, it's more of a convenience than a problem solver. I use it to save work files so I don't have to email them to myself or carry them around on a jump drive. I also use it to save book manuscripts from my laptop so I can read them on my tablet. I also keep recipes in my Dropbox, and it's super-handy to be able to access them on my tablet in the kitchen when I'm cooking, or on my phone when I'm in the grocery store and want to buy whatever is needed to make a specific recipe.
Very good but would love to make some tweaks and changes if I could around archiving photographs
What do you like best about the product?
Automatic syncing across all devices makes life much easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Trying to find photos when I've uploaded them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When trying to access documents on another device.
The only backup / cloud solution that always works and never gets in the way
What do you like best about the product?
I have used dropbox for over fifteen years, mostly for personal use. It's the first thing I install on any new machine I set up, and it always works flawlessly in the background regardless of anything else I'm doing. It's the easiest, most mindless form of cloud sync and backup you could ask for, way better than any corporate-mandated backup system, and eons better than competing products like BOX. I've never had issues with the service going down, files getting corrupted or lost, or any other major detractions that somehow affected me negatively. In addition, the ability to recover deleted files has saved me many times over the years. I'm also happy that they have support across a number of different types of systems (desktop, mobile, iOS/Android, Windows/macOS/linux). The few times I've contacted support, they've been quick to respond and seem genuinely interested in solving issues or taking feedback from users. Admittedly I don't use any of the collaboration or document signing features, in favor of competing products that I'm asked to use for work or personal business, but I may find a use for them in the future. Sharing files with others via a shared link in a majorly useful feature that saves me from having to put personal documents on public services. Finally, I prefer paying for a service like Dropbox versus using free alternatives, such as Google Drive, because I trust that Dropbox cares about my privacy and isn't out to profit off of my data in any way.
What do you dislike about the product?
The web interface still feels very basic despite years of development. Further, the desktop interface (e.g. the menu dropdown in macOS) always seems to change every so often in ways that break the "comfort factor" of using a known system. Sometimes it's OK just to leave things alone if they work fine. Finally, I miss the "public" directory wherein all files were shared by default -- I get the issues in supporting something like this, but would be happy if paid customers could still have this as an option, perhaps with more limited features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It saves me from having to use awful, resource-heavy backup programs on computers, allows me to share files easily, syncs all of my files across a large variety of devices, and offers peace of mind in a way where I can simply "set it and forget it."
