Ideal for monitoring usage
What do you like best about the product?
It allows you to create your own personalised dashboards to analyse data. I use it to understand how my clients are using a specific platform and how I can best support them.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does take some time to set up the dashboards but once the templates are in place, it's great from there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping understand how users are engaging with different functionalities in the platform and where there are opportunities for them to get more value from the tool.
Heap is powerful yet extremely intuitive to use
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy for a new user to pick up. By allowing users to identify events using the activity feed, anyone can quickly learn how to use Heap to formulate important charts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are really good but are not easily discoverable, such as combo events, funnel comparisons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap is great for Product Managers that frequently conduct A/B tests.
Product Manager
What do you like best about the product?
This product is best in class in combining auto-captured events + custom API events. If I need more client-side events, the visual labeling tool is convenient. I don't need to bother a developer to defined these events for me. I can't imagine life without it. Additionally, building reports is so easy and intuitive. I can build reports in less than a minute if I know where to look.
Heap has built a library of integrations that make it a breeze to accomplish any product task. For example, we're segmenting users based on action and then sending it to Iterable which then sends out a campaign for these users. Heap can also integrate with your AB testing tools which helps you further analyze your customer's behaviors. Powerful stuff.

What do you dislike about the product?
If you don't structure your custom API events, then Heap won't read it correctly. You need all your event properties at a top level structure, it hates nested json objects. In addition to custom API events, Heap Events has a confusing structure. There's properties only available at an Heap event level versus a user level versus a property level. This makes it hard to find the properties you need when building reports. Unless you know what you're looking for, it's a pain to create reports without this knowledge.
Categorization is also confusing with Heap. You have different category rules based on charts, events, segments and dashboards. I can't add Paths to dashboards, which is a missed opportunity.
Lastly, and this is not Heap's fault, but if you're a company instrumenting Heap into your products, you need to do a lot more work in instrumenting Heap and your events correctly. If you don't have a good analytics plan or structure in place, you will struggle with using Heap. Heap is only as good as the data you input into it. This is something we are working with as well. Heap has done a good job with helping us with the instrumentation, but it felt very surface-level. We learned a lot along the way that we wish we had known in the beginning.
When we started evaluating it, it was cheaper than the other comparable tools available in the market. But it's getting just as expensive as the industry leaders out there like Amplitude. If you're a startup, it's going to be a bit out of reach.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps give insights into customer behavior within the product. Very helpful in understanding why users are not converting specific parts of the product, which allows us to deep dive further with customer interviews or surveys to validate the issues we saw in the funnel. I also use it to understand impact if there is an outage or a bug affecting our users by checking the trends of events.
Easy to use and find lots of valuable information

I like that I'm able to use filters to segment data based on what info I am looking for

I need to press "refresh" pretty often to get updated data
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing me to see how marketing campaigns are performing for different KPIs (new users, new customers, conversion rates)
Heap is a great tool to track your users actions on the webpage
What do you like best about the product?
the integration with snowflake, it is very helpful to send all events with a click.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the functionalities of the filters and the dashboards are not very clear, also some of the events are not classified correctly (sessions vs users)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap helps me create funnels of our users actions in both the user interface as well as in my database (snowflake) which is very helpful when trying to spot issues and create alternatives to increase conversions and sales.
Great data driven

Easy to use, lots of way to get data, easy to connect with other platforms
What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes its little bit tedious to make some charts base on the data you need
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting conversions for all platforms that we don't have integrations with our Website
A simplified analysis to make decisions and solve contingencies
What do you like best about the product?
Heap has worked very well for me; I consider it more valuable today than tools like Adobe Analytics. I like the intuitive user interface and dashboard; they make the work of monitoring, analyzing and study of the information we obtain through its functionalities more comfortable and practical. Heap helps us understand how users interact with our platforms, which has helped us define and solve user experience issues. The information we get is easily translated into reports and helpful in improving decision-making.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing he finds a bit disadvantageous compared to other competing tools is the lack of integrations with other industry solutions and customer service response time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used it to track our platform and analyze data and interactions occurring on various pages to get a broader picture of what is going well, what can be improved and issues that need to be resolved in a hurry to ensure a satisfactory user experience much as possible. It has many functions and features that make our work more accessible and efficient, such as sound data collection, data segmentation, real-time tracking of our platforms, A/B testing tracking, and report generation, among others. It is a robust and effective analytics tool.
It is excellent for obtaining data to improve web resources and provide better user experience
What do you like best about the product?
In our organization, we prioritized understanding our users, knowing their most executed actions in our applications, the traction obtained in each feature since its launch, getting essential data derived from making business decisions and more. We do it all efficiently in a way we could not have done before without this tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that is not easy about Heap is the initial implementation and setup, but luckily it has tutorials and a good onboarding process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Heap, we have accurately tracked every step of users in our web-oriented applications and events. Today, it is a tool of daily use in the organization and helps us to locate problems that we otherwise would not have been able to solve as quickly as possible and improve our websites more and more.
Excellent tool for insights on user and workflow actions and behavior
What do you like best about the product?
We use Heap and love it! The auto-capture allows for great go-back analytics on things not previously captured. It can be a bit complicated to understand initially but once you get familiar with the platform it becomes an incredibly easy-to-use self-service tool for gathering customer insights.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our company hasn't fully adopted Heap across all teams which makes it difficult to gather insights without the need for manual creation of dashboards for specific events & interactions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap is helping uncover customer behaviors and usage analytics which as allowed us to create user-specific GTM and adoption strategies. The self-service format has enabled us to get super granular with the insights we are looking to pull.
DIY Data
What do you like best about the product?
Love the breadth and depth of the data Heap offers, and how that can be pulled in to Salesforce. This allows my team to better monitor client activity, and get ahead of any issues that could impact a renewal or upsell.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is SO MUCH that Heap can do and it can be overwhelming to customize, especially for someone like me who does not come from a product or engineering background.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap allows us to see what our customers care about. Who is logging in to our platform and when? What sorts of activities are they doing there; what matters to them? This allows our Customer Success and Sales teams to better customize customer lifecycles and touchpoints, as well as get ahead of any issues for renewals or upsells.
