Extremely flexible customer data platform which should sit at the middle of any company's martech
What do you like best about the product?
lots of sources and destinations available, as well as custom sources and destinations to tailor to own needs if they currently aren't supported. Requires less dev resources than other competitors as far as im aware
What do you dislike about the product?
Some destinations and source ownership between Segment and their partners can lead to a bit of back and forth (e.g. SDKs, missing features or bugs in functionality) with support teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Resolving customer identity and being able to conglomerate all activities a customer experiences in one place with Personas. Easy to set up server-side tracking as well to circumvent ad blockers and create a complete source of truth when it comes to event tracking.
Segment does exactly what it says and does it well.
What do you like best about the product?
I greatly appreciate that Segment offers multiple ways to add tracking, from programmatic methods to click user interfaces. This has worked well and has been deployed across multiple web platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Segment can be a little bit confusing to set up for the regular user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improved analytics. We can also follow specific user behaviors.
Segment has been critical for us in terms of marketing attribution, and they have a helpful team!
What do you like best about the product?
The "identify" table is pretty great/magical, I like how easy it is to set up (most) sources, and it's been a great experience every time I've reached out for help
What do you dislike about the product?
Personally, I don't love how requisite it is to have Eng folks involved to get a source properly running, but kind of hard to complain about that. My biggest bummer is just when there's no pre-built integration for a Source we'd like to add.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our primary use case is to track the activity on our company website(s) and particularly, user activity. This has given us far more trustworthy attribution options and has made it easier to understand how users engage with our site.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know your use case as well as what partners you'll need to work with. I'd also encourage you to ensure your Eng team will have the bandwidth to offer support because they WILL be needed at some point(s). But overall, if you're looking to gain insight to marketing attribution/user activity on your site, Segment is an excellent tool to go with.

Not much, it's really useful! Maybe the SDK could have updates more frequently.

I love Segment SDK with Javascript and Debuger tools

What do you like best about the product?
Its very easy to integrate with other tools. Tech profiles and data analysts' profiles can work with the tool to make the data governance process very smooth.
What do you dislike about the product?
It happened once Segment Engineering team updated their libraries without enough QA and it created a bug, and some data events did not arrive to the destinations.
There is only one tagging plan that applies both for apps and the web, and it would be helpful to have different ones.
There are some limitations depending on the implementation (cloud mode vs. client mode).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thank you to Segment tool, we assure data quality and we are able to control that all the events generated accomplish with an established schema and quality. It also arises when there is an event violation. Also, we could delete several SDKs from the apps, leaving only Segment one.
Helps us scale easily
What do you like best about the product?
As a product manager, it's a dream come true when you can seamlessly intergrate new platforms without having to take your engineers' time. Works just the way it is needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe a few points about how other teams are using this platform. We need to pay extra to filter the data we send to each platform. It would've been great if we didn't have to pay for this. It helps us reduce costs on other platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrations are easy. Sending data to multiple platforms is seamless, and the platform already covers all the commonly used tools, so it helps us integrate new tools faster.

We use segment for tracking with amplitude. By following users' data, we have good insights into their interests.

You do not have the possibility to choose the language of the website.

A very nice overlook (great interface), ease of set-up, working without problems, quick troubleshooting.

Not all needed sources, blocking of web tracking for some users.

Getting data from multiple sources into multiple destinations especially into the DWH.
