It’s ultrafast, reliable, and highly efficient. It offers elite traffic management, flexible ACLs, advanced health checks, and massive scalability, making it the gold standard for high-load, mission-critical environments.

has a steep learning curve, lacks a built-in management GUI, and depends on syslog for logging. Its UDP support is limited, and managing complex configurations can feel daunting.

HAProxy solves several critical infrastructure problems, primarily focused on availability, performance, and security.

This is one of those technologies that “just runs” and, once it’s set up, doesn’t create any extra work for us.

The basic profiles dashboard feels a bit old-fashioned and reminds me of Excel.

Its performance and reliability. HAProxy is extremely fast, handles high traffic smoothly, and gives very fine-grained control over load balancing and traffic routing.

HAProxy can be difficult to configure and maintain for complex setups.
The configuration is powerful, but it’s very syntax-heavy and not always intuitive, so debugging or scaling configs can get tricky, especially compared to newer tools with simpler abstractions.

For me, this means better performance, high availability, and reliability—applications stay up even during high traffic or server failures, and users get a smoother experience.
