It can be complex to configure, since there are so many configuration options available.

A “Just Runs” Technology That does its work performant

This is one of those technologies that “just runs” and, once it’s set up, doesn’t create any extra work for us.

The basic profiles dashboard feels a bit old-fashioned and reminds me of Excel.

HAProxy is extremely fast and efficient, even under heavy traffic. It provides advanced load balancing algorithms and fine-grained control.

The configuration syntax can be difficult to understand for beginners. Debugging issues is not always straightforward, especially in complex setups.

HAProxy is solving our need for reliable traffic distribution and high availability across our services. It acts as a central entry point, balancing incoming requests efficiently and ensuring that no single backend becomes a bottleneck.

Works out of the box with little configuration. Does most of what we need.

Web interface is not as good as the cli.

After moving our workloads to a GKE environment, it became easier to use the Istio proxy, while HAProxy was harder for us to adopt.

It’s easy to handle huge traffic, such as around 100k requests per second, on a selected bare-metal server.
