Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is integrated with our online sales to auto calculate tax and returns
What do you dislike about the product?
it's a little time consuming to go back if we have a refund to give a customer. We have to do manual transactions in vertex as our system doesn't communicate back and forth with Vertex due to our setup. It's not really a Vertex problem as much is it is in how we had to set the system up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started online sales and this calculates and charges taxes in real time and eases return prep time.

Missing the ability to tax exempt based on product categories and locations

For clients not having to worry about tax rates as much

It beats having to manually update your tax rates every time a tax rate changes.
Great Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
I love the automated processing. I know that our transactions are flowing right through Vertex so the right sales tax is being charged. The comfort of knowing that our monthly sales tax filings for various states are all correct and processed on time. Moving forward with Vertex has provided a comfort and security as well as freeing up so much of my time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Uploading adjustments is time consuming because the required file has so many fields and only a few need filled out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We automated our Sales and Use tax filings eliminating the time consuming manual process.

The support, in my opinion the company provides a fast and full support.

It Is not fast as the customer actually expect

A little slow to load on the first time.

We are avoiding the problem of writing our own tax calculation process for every cuntry
Best Software for Indirect Taxes
What do you like best about the product?
Seamless to SAP. allows for custom mapping of products purchased for Use Tax. And of course the people.

Sometimes Customer Service takes there time responding to issues. (Not the critical ones)

Benefit: Low staffing on the business side.
Problem Solving: Multiple Legal entities not all in the same product/service field. Makes it easy with only one application.

I think that it could be be faster in answer tax details

We use it with our retail solution helps us to use the right tax in the difficult USA tax rules
Upgrading to Vertex O
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to assign tax area IDs to specific addresses to obtain the correct tax rate
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not a 100% solution. This is because some addresses are outside of city limits. Also, some addresses are assigned a 100% confidence factor for the tax rate although they were not correct. Overall, over 90% of the addresses tested had the correct tax rates which is a major improvement from the 'Q' series

Obtaining the correct tax rates especially for some of our locations that are outside of the city limits

What do you like best about the product?
Vertex O Series provides a great amount of administration and control over tax calculation to the user of the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very little, software is user friendly, only have a few differences in whether an address is defined inside or out of city limits, which results in inaccuracy of tax rate.
