Lightweight, Cost-Effective, and Perfect for Cloud
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Ubuntu’s lightweight nature and its cost-effectiveness since it is an open-source operating system with no licensing fees. This has been particularly beneficial in my organization, which operates in a cloud-based environment using Azure Virtual Machines. Ubuntu's compatibility with Docker makes it ideal for deploying applications through docker images, maintaining them easily, and scaling them as required. The widespread adoption of Ubuntu in the industry as an organizational standard for production-ready environments adds to its reliability. I value Ubuntu's strong support community and the frequent updates and upgrades it receives. The ease of setup when being deployed in Azure environments, due to the existing agreements and configurations, requires minimal effort from my side. Ubuntu has proven to be a strategic choice, outperforming alternatives like Windows that are heavier and have slower boot times, especially when integrating with Docker, which is cumbersome and not fully supported on Windows systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
In some cases, Ubuntu poses limitations in pipeline deployment scenarios where specific tasks require the Windows operating system. This is notably an issue for custom tasks within my organization, such as tasks that involve sending emails from mail servers that might be purchased by my company. These tasks may not be compatible with Ubuntu and necessitate Windows to execute correctly, thereby creating a limitation where Ubuntu cannot perform these pipeline tasks successfully.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu for deploying applications with Docker images, benefiting from its lightweight nature, cost-effectiveness, open-source support, and extensive library resources.

The King of the Linux OS
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is very user-friendly and is an excellent choice for those new to Linux. Many applications come pre-installed, and you also have access to tools like Snapstore, Flatpak, and the APT package system. If you're worried about using the command line, Ubuntu makes things much simpler, allowing you to accomplish most tasks without needing to rely heavily on terminal commands.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snap packages can be sluggish to start, and some users dislike the forced Snap integration. Memory usage is higher than minimal distros like Debian or Arch, and occasional GNOME shell extensions break after updates. Ubuntu’s default look also hasn’t changed much in years — functional but not exciting. Innovation? Not much.

Ubuntu addresses the fundamental challenges of software cost, stability, and flexibility. It offers a fully functional, secure, and open-source operating system that doesn’t require costly licenses or frequent maintenance. I rely on it for development, multimedia tasks, and everyday computing, and it consistently performs without the unnecessary bloat or forced updates that are typical of many commercial systems. The package management system and extensive repository make installing new tools straightforward, while its reliability allows me to concentrate on my work rather than dealing with system crashes. Frankly speaking, Ubuntu is much more stable, secure and efficient to get job done compared to Windows.
