Float the resource management tool that optimizes time and executes quality resource planning
What do you like best about the product?
Float is one of the most outstanding tools in the last years based on everything related to the management of resources that give a plus to the collaboration within a planning and execution of a project, this tool contains many virtues which makes it totally striking within these we can find that it is a flexible and powerful programming tool that is innovative and adapts to new technologies also highlighting that it has a synchronization and integration with other task management tools and projects such as Asana, Jira, Teamwork among others thus facilitating the process and information management with respect to project planning
What do you dislike about the product?
It is important to emphasize that in spite of the strengths that Float contains it also presents some difficulties that although it is certain it is something common within the tools of management of resources and planning of projects and it is that always at the beginning of the implementation of the tool the process of learning is a little confused since the explanations are not well implied for a total understanding, in addition that if it is not configured totally well at the beginning by getting to present/display a lack of pursuit of the tasks that are executed in real time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Float although it is true that it presents small details but to our company it has been of much aid and that it has offered a endorsement to us in many failures that were within the company, this tool has been a plus that has arrived at our employees so that you can handle multiple projects optimizing the time and yielding with the best quality, because that is the concept of this tool maintains you active producing and sharing the programming tasks, maintaining notified to all the work equipment by means of electronic mail of the activities that are being followed and the schedule that that they are executing
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is not a secret that Float is a leading tool in the market, but it is important that before implementing it, we investigate its operation in order to obtain a better development of the application and to achieve an accuracy in the proposed objectives, within our organization it has provided all the fruits that we needed, becoming disciplined and competitive in the market
Conceptual view of resources work
What do you like best about the product?
User friendly, simple to drag and drop task for resources but able to seem multiple resources task on one screen.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it had more calendar capabilities. Schedule meetings etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were manually keeping track in Microsoft Word / Excel. Limiting to one person being able to edit at a time, instantly solved with Float.

Float gets the job done, but can be glitchy. Some persisting issues that are bad for our business.
What do you like best about the product?
The visual aspect of Float is fantastic. We rely heavily on the ability to color code by project manager (matched to our KanBan board) for better overhead visibility. The clarity around capacity limits (turning red at 8 hours), PTO, and project owner give a great overhead view of each resource. Also, the edit history is incredibly helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software can be glitchy and hard to rely on at times. Often when moving blocks of time, the software will prompt you to refresh the page and you will lose whatever action was in progress. Sometimes the software will not let me drop a block where I want to, and I'll have to place it a few days and then manually extend/shorten the time block.
The reports section was recently changed, without warning as far as I know, and it has been a huge pain point for me. I run Capacity to Contract reports using Float exports, and this structure change completely crushed my existing workflow to the point where we abandoned our old spreadsheet in favor of a completely new report.
Sometimes ghost data will not show up on the schedule view, but will skew the reports for each resource. This causes a headache when running reports because I have to manually keep tabs on all numbers for each resource, given I can't trust they are 100% accurate.

We use Float for our resourcing and utilization monitoring, so we are able to identify what type of work needs to be brought in at which points in the year, informing sales. We also use this as an overhead planning tool week to week.
Great resource management tool, not customizable though.

User friendly, visually appealing, effective resource management tool, cheaper

Not customizable, doesn't integrate with other programs, cannot tweak API or make suggestions to correct.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing a team of 40 people with varying skill sets, availability, interests and projects all under one view and system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you know exactly what you need when researching platforms. This is not a customizable tool, but could be a very efficient use of resources ($s) if it provides the baseline what you need.

What do you like best about the product?
Can easily, clearly and efficiently see my workflow and projects for the coming weeks.
What do you dislike about the product?
None really other than it can take a little long to initially load up - but that may be down to the large amount people in the company loading up.

Letting people clearly know what jobs and projects they have on over a period of time.
Float is fluid to navigate and easy to understand

The schedule feature is easy to understand from the get-go. The design is fluid and it's excellent to see what your team is working on alongside you.

I would quite like to see animated or interactive data.

Float is helping delegate projects between members with ease.

We use it in stead of filling out timesheets so it reduces time and paperwork.
Great scheduling module, easy to use, highly recommend it!

Easy to use, minimal amount of clicks to achieve what is required.

Big block descriptions, but can easily be changed by changing the settings. Would like to personally change the colour on my personal view.

Defaulting fields for activity tasks. Which can be very helpful for timesheets that are to be submitted at our organisation.

What do you like best about the product?
It's helped formalize resourcing at my agency and helped stakeholders get a better snapshot of what's going on, what's bogging people down and what's coming up.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of ability to create a dashboard(s) - like one that shows all team members in one place based on account or project without having to click around as much.
Don't like how hours are shown for each team member over several days (would prefer if it showed how much time is allotted per day as well as total time - think this would just make it easier to view).

Resourcing! We needed things more formalized and needed better synergy between offices (especially because resources are now being shared across offices). It's beneficial to actually see hours in order to understand bandwidth
