Great Scheduling Program

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
the simplicity of the software--it is pretty intuitive and simple to use
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not very easy to schedule multiple tasks in the same day
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Float helps my organization keep track of where we all are and what projects we are working on. We have many clients and projects that we all juggle
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just explore and play with it

Intuitive and easy to use

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive and easy to use with a friendly UI in both mobile and web interfaces. Using Float has given our team insight on unused capacity and improved team scheduling.
What do you dislike about the product?
Does not have native integrations with MS Project, so the export then import function is fumbly to use. Works better as a resource scheduling tool (which it is) than a project management tool (which it is not).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to using Float our team depended on after-the-fact time reporting on an Excel sheet and had limited vision on future capacity to take on new projects. Float is providing both real-time resource tracking and future capacity insights, allowing multiple projects to be coordinated and future planned. We are tracking 18 simultaneous projects and 7 future projects with Float for a 6 person project team. Float's reporting is giving upper management valuable insight into time spent and team capacity, allowing long term planning and reprioritization based on available resources.

Valuable integration with companywide scheduling and project management

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to track and report hours (especially the aggregated view at a week or month level), consistency between business pipeline and scheduling
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasional technical glitches (most common is clicking on a block of time logged and the site crashing), limited intuitiveness in interface
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows me to see the projected allocation of time on individual projects, facilitates clear decision making

Fast and easy

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Design is pleasant, giving me a fast overview of things I have done in the past week and month.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes would be good to have more information on the day card itself, a quick hover could possibly give me a small overview of the content.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Day-to-day management of my task and evidence of things I have done.

Float is great for visual thinkers

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Visual clarity. The colours and block shapes make it easy to distinguish between projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Switching from looking at scheduled projects to logging time could be easier. Took a while to locate the tab the first time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeing how my time has been split up and organised.

    Computer Software

Float works very well with our company workflow, never had any issues.

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its simplicity is a clear winner for me. A lot of times it eliminates the additional communication with my project manager, just because I know exactly what am I supposed to be doing.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like it to have the option to add a quick comment on the scheduled time entry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us to organize our team's schedule.

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to log your time in, easy to manage teams, and create a reports
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't actually like the schedule feature logic and view. Especially since this feature is default shown after you opened a page
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me track my time and make it visible to the manager, check my schedule and plans

Streamlined for managers, clunky for users

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like seeing my week's expectations and then filling in the reality in similar views.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the limited set of keyboard shortcuts. I wish it were easier to add items without mouse click-and-drag. I often accidentally make changed and need to revert. I wish it included a stopwatch style counter like competitors (e.g., Toggl)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows our team to manage time spent across various contracts

Very useful to plan the workload for the week and organize teams.

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The visual "block" style, easy editing and that people can see how busy you are.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be easy to randomly displace some blocks while inadvertently moving the mouse, which messes up all of the hours and planning
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a freelance, that people can see my workload and that I can plan in advance

Useful for some business functions

  • June 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Relatively easy to use interface, with a view that helps project managers see what the upcoming weeks/months look like in terms of resource commitment. There are also functions like adding phases to projects that are pretty useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Any time, as a resource manager, that I need to add single day commitments in the middle of a longer commitment, I have to stop the longer commitment short of the day needing to be planned, put the day's commitment in, and recreate the longer commitment to resume after the day being planned. This is a huge headache when putting in things like one-day trainings or other commitments that aren't in the "time off" category. There could also be additional tie-ins to other software. Having to manage a forecast in Float and then do other management (time entries, project/task management, etc.) is not very efficient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Float allows me, as a resource manager, to forecast things out like long-term project commitments and days off for things like holidays. It also allows me to see how a forecast matches up against a budget if needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool if you're looking for a tool that assists with resource management in your organization.
